Like most, the first play through ends up being a casual paced trial. What I do the next time around depends on the game I'm playing. If it is Harvest Moon, I am more of a completionist, and for any other game, not so much.

It really depends on the game. I start off all games casually, but I become a completionist if I really like the game. And if the game is actually deep enough as to where there ARE secrets to be discovered. Like, Super Mario Bros for NES, just beating it is 100%. Portal, on the other hand isn't 100% unless you to things you wouldn't even consider during a casual playthrough.

I wonder what the character limit on this thing is.

Depends on the game. If it is too big, than I will just play casually. If it is a a medium sized or so game like super mario 64, than I will play the game 100% through.

Whenever I play a game, I want to complete it 100%, otherwise I really don't feel like I beat it. Some take longer than others, for sure. I'm still trying to get 100% completion in Kingdom Hearts 2, I need to collect a ton of each synthesis material.

That depends on what game it is.  Like, if  it's Pokémon.  After I beat the Champion, I want to collect all the hidden items and complete the Pokedex.  But, other games, I just want to beat the story.

I'm a completionist on most games, but I'm not an achievement hunter, or something like that.

I would like to say im a completionist but as years go on i tend to put more and more games by the wayside because im one of those people who buys every game that comes out for every console so its not very often anymore i have time to actually complete a game anymore Unless i really like it but that's not too often i think the last one i did was Batman Arkham city

I am most definitely a casualist. I get very bored, and unfortunately much too quickly as well.

Take Pokemon for example. I love playing Pokemon games, especially new ones, such as hacks because they provide a breath of fresh air, not the same game over and over again. I like to play Emerald, but after a while, you just don't want to keep playing the same game over and over.

So say I am playing Emerald. I really only play to complete it really...I don't go for the super secret stuff or try to level up to 100, or complete the Battle Frontier as much as possible. One major factor to that however, is the vast array of Pokemon games to play here in the first place. Another factor is, well, life. I have homework to do, I have to sleep, etc.

Say there weren't many Pokemon games here. If that be the case, then most likely I would be a completionist.
Thankfully there are MANY Pokemon games to try.

Now, if there was a REALLY good game, like way too good, I would probably play it as much as I can, and as long as I can as well. I would explore every nook and cranny, find every little secret, try to find easter eggs, all that lovely stuff.

I don't find many games on that level however...the ones that I did find amazing like that were long in the past, and I am not excited about them now as I was in the past.

For me, it really does depend on the game. Usually in any given game, I will go out of my way to get things and finish sidequests that provide me with something I can actually use in gameplay. If all I get is some sort of cosmetic award or a bragging rights item, I usually won't do it unless I really, really love the game and want to finish everything because it's so much fun. I love Castlevania Order of Ecclesia so much that I went after every boss medal on Hard mode with the level capped at 1.

But it's also going to depend on how difficult it is to get to do certain things. For example, if I ever get around to playing The Lost Levels, I really doubt that I'm going to go after those bonus worlds that you have to beat the game 8 times to unlock. Nope. And sometimes I'll change things up just because of roleplaying reasons. When I played FFVI, I completely ignored Locke when I got to the World of Ruin because I didn't like him and I ended up beating the game without him.

So yeah, there's a lot of different angles to consider even if I'm not taking into account the time and effort I have to put into playing the game.

Well, I don't strive to finish a game 100%, I just want to play and experience the game itself, before attempting 100% completion. I think I have only fully completed one game.

I'm more of a casualist than a completionist. I don't really care about finishing a game through. Most of the time I get bored easily and move on one game to another. The only games I've actually completed all the way through are a few Pokémon games and Super Mario 64.

I try to complete a game- I usually don't. I usually start a new game, and alter between both the games. I do abandon games after I find them boring- I have school for boredom, thank you very much. I don't need more of the boredom.

I'm a "Casualist". I have a strong dislike for competition as to me it serves no purpose in life but to create tension between peers unless of course it is for fun.

I haven't entered a competition before and I honestly don't intend to as when I was younger, there was this person who was intent on beating me at this game we were playing in a lesson. She got 14,000. I wasn't really doing it for the competition but I ended up getting 365,000. My teacher could not stop laughing, as the girl who wanted to beat me just stood in the background glaring at me.

In response to games online, I often do a marathon on StumbleUpon, trying to complete the game 100% with any bonus features included.

It depends on the game, but I am usually a completionist. It feels good to get everything. Look at Kingdom Hearts: After you beat the game, there's still a lot of stuff you haven't completed yet. Same with Final Fantasy.

A mix of both, honestly. Depends on the game, but good games make me want to go out of my way to collect some collectables, but I never bother with all of them

I guess it really depends on what is expected in the side quests, if they are simple, easy little things, then why not? But if they are very time consuming and steer me off of the main quest to much, then no. The first time around when I play a game, I mostly just focus on the main quest at hand and then worry about all the little side stuff later once I have beaten it. So 1st time playing, I just aim to get it done and then after I have beaten it, I look into doing the other little things the game has to offer. Good question by the way.

For me, it depends completely on the game that I’m playing. For some games, I just beat the story, for some I have to do everything in order for me to feel like I really beat it and for some games, I play it over 3 to 5 times without beating it and I get rid of it.

With games like Lego Star Wars, I completed the game first trying to get everything I could as I went along but not fixating on any particular level. After finishing the entire game, I went back level by level to try to collect everything. So I start off casualist then become completionist. I've being doing the same thing with Lego Indiana Jones.
