While the SNES era was my favourite, seeing as there are countless wonderful games for it, i think the playstation era was the breaking point in gaming as we know it. Once CD's became the medium of choice games took off, especially the rpg's for the psx. Also the graphics jump from the fourth to the fifth was huge, going from cartoons to things that actually resembled real people. I remember the look of amazement i had when i first saw ff7 and thought "omg these graphics are awesome." Who would have thought that a few years later when i was playing it i would laugh at myself for saying that.

the SNES had a lot of good games for it (which i didn't know until recently), but I still think that the N64's era was the best

I voted for the fifth age myself. During the previous times I either didn't play any video systems at all (up to the fourth age and partly into the fifth). I turned 20 in the very early 80's; when I finally bothered to become anything interested in gaming, I bought a c64. I stuck with computers (bought an Amiga, then an IBM pc clone) until I bought a Playstation in 1996. It was at that time that I began to play witjh both types- consoles and computers. But most of my fun times I remember being in that time- Playstation 1 and computers. It was when that next generation came that my interest began to fall apart- the games were classier looking, but the gameplay had started to go down. Now I still play as much as I can, but it's harder to stay interested, even as the games look flashier and classier.

I don't remember any gen before 5th. I voted for the 5th because i remember when i was like 4 and 5 playing Paper Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros. 1, etc. with my big bro. Those were the good days. My family was in trouble then, but still. Good old days when life was great. Now its a lot more stressful and full of bull. Man, i wish i could relive those days every now and then.

PSX FTW!!!!!!!

The current generation, for sure. Why's that? The reasoning is quite simple.

Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have taken great leaps to make the previous eras available to all... Nintendo has opened up its whole history for download (in portions of course, and there's some stuff we won't see granted, but I believe there is something there for everyone) along with the histories of many other systems while Sony has done the same thing with its own historical content, same with the XBOX although that only goes back one generation, to tell the truth.

Along with that you have Sony and Microsoft using their online download services to bring us older games with updated graphics (most times with an option to have the originals there too mind you) and its the classics that get this treatment. It's kind of like filtering through all the crap if you ask me, and I'm still getting the great stuff from today... sometimes there's Anthologies that are entirely worth the purchase, such as the Genesis one released not too long ago.

When I think about the fifth, I have amazing memories... getting my N64 was one of them and before that I had a PSX that I spent a lot of time with. Before that, I remember the day that I got my SNES and even that was a lot of time spent with my father playing video games and the like... so I'm quite cool with the fourth as well. Looking back though, a lot of the stuff that I enjoyed is sentimental only and the games haven't aged well. In this generation, I get the stuff that aged the best along with the best new stuff... works perfectly for me.

For me the 4th and 5th generations were very close. I ended up voting for the 5th generation though because nothing has made me feel the same excitement I felt the first time I played Metal Gear Solid or Star Fox 64 since then.

Oh man, star fox 64, what a game. I only need one more medal before unlocking extra mode (and the landmaster in vs.)

I would have to say 5th gen because that is when the n64 was made and it was a great station.

Definatly the now gen! the graphics are waaaay better and the gammes are nore fun

Generations 3-6 are pretty much my favorites.

I couldn't agree more with Ego, I play PS2 more than anything. It's still a good system with tons of games. GameStop has them for cheap too. Plus all those consoles were the easiest to get my hands on.

i really liked the 4th gen, but after introducing to FF games for the 5th gen, thats when i really started to play video games

I chose the 5th gen. because of the great RPG's that came out on the PlayStation and such. It was close with the 4th gen though.

Too many fifth gen lover's here. I think because it is the era of 3D games. I love that generation also.

i voted for the first gen cuz my dad found an Odyssey and gave it to me for my birthday last year and the games werent the best but they were fun.
