While it's true I'm sure they made profit elsewhere, losing $500 million a year isn't great for your business plan, hence I say they are more like to drop out of the console race.

Stephen quality doesn't always equal good sales. It can but it might not. I can't think of a game off hand but there are some games out there that are good that just don't sell. I can't think of one game off hand but there have been a few.

i guessed... ps3... because i feel the least sucessful console was GC... those are my sentiments and i really am not too interested how many japanese people bought the console, VASH... the thing is with the xbox... as IGN pointed out... Halo can be credited for actually 'selling' the console... which i feel is as much a weakness as it is a strengh...

Normally it wouldn't matter how many people bought it in Japan, but these numbers were laughable. Some weeks the console that was the least successful according to you actually outsold the 360, while other weeks you would see Original Xbox- 19 (meaning 19 Xbox's sold in all of Japan You also have to remeber that Japan is the same size market as the US because so many people play games there. It's practically impossible for MS to win while doing so utterly bad in Japan, unless the PS3 is a flop and I mean a huge flop.

Who ever said the Wii's graphics are going to suck better take a look at the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronocals screen-shots.

I voted the Wii simply because of it's innovation. Not saying that the other systems are bad or worthless but I actually like orignality in my experiences, and Nintendo has been doing it for long time, so screw you Sony and Microsoft, I am going to get me Wii.

Its a formula the videogame companies have always used, too lose money on their console and recoup it in other areas. Like game Liscensing, and game assescories. For the original xbox Microsoft used alot of third party hardware, like a ibm chip. So they weren't able to reduce the cost of the console enough for them to break even.

With the 360, they can change the parts inside of it at any time, and the price of technology goes down. So they will be able to make a profit on the system before too long.

Microsoft knew the xbox wasn't going to make alot of $$$ Microsoft is in this for the long haul. THey knew they just couldn't come into the game market with crap, they used the xbox to establish a base, and get a foothold in online gaming. Which they have accomplished.

Bill gates is worth more than 30 Billion dollars...

I think for the last year Microsoft has been selling more xboxes than playstation 2's.




THAT ALL SAID, no graphics don't make a game. With the gamecube and the xbox I felt like they hit different markets. With the GC its not even possible to play some games because of the poor controller. Is this what nintendo calls innovative? Not only was the controller bad but srylsly Whats up with the 5 foot cords on them? If you want one with a decent cord you have to buy 3rd party.

So in closing, As far as Nintendo goes they have always focused on making fun and innovative games (like donky Konga) and the Wii definantly has prospects. But I think the 360 will take the cake.

As far as the Sony system, I think it was a mistake to include the costly Blue-Ray, seeing as how I don't think the public consumer market is ready for it. Its just crazy and stupid. Are you telling me a game is going to go through 8 gigabytes of data in one sitting? Then what... YOu can't switch discs? (ala the playstation Final Fantasies)

Games that big wouldn't even be downloaded like I download demos on the 360.

I think the Wii Will hit more of a Ninch market, and its yet to see how well somthing that radical will go over (like with parents)

I THINK the Verdict is still out on both sony's and nintendos system. Too early too say.

I didn't know that, but that will help them out a lot.

I'm not sure of the PS3's plan, but Nintendo intends for there to be Wi-Fi out of the box, all you need is a compatible router. They also already announced that all first party games will have free online, and they are starting them with Super Smash Bros. online. Also only 10% of Xbox owners had XboxLive.

I found the GC controller comfortable, and as far as the 5 foot cord goes, if I'm not mistaken Nintendo was the first console maker that released a wireless controller (I know some third parties have before).

Yes Neo I know of the European and Aus. NZ. market, however I know little of sales numbers. And the reason I mention Japan is because as I've said gaming is part of culture there, it's not like it is in the US, Europe, or Aus.

Also Zylo Nintendo is tryinng to aim the Wii at everyone including non-gamers. Whether they can pull it off or not and whether the controller will be done right, nobody really knows at this point. However, I'm going to trust in Nintendo because they seem to have everything together this time and Nintendo quailty is something that is still good even to this day.

why not mention china? they've got a huge population, even if only 7% had a console... it'd be plenty to make a difference?

Wii is going to use Wi Fi?! i think... thats very crap... i mean, if i was gonna get a Wii... which i may... lets see if it was as cheap as the GC was... i would not get a wireless connection just for online play with the Wii... because its a heap more expensive... at least here in aus it is...

when you say non-gamers.... do you mean, non-gamers at a <10 in age or a more broader spectrum?

Broader spectrum, like even 40 year olds etc.
I'm relatively sure there will be some sort of adaptor that you plug in your pc to play wirelessly that way as long as you have broadband. The DS has one now. DM and Roy have one I think. But I'm pretty sure 360 and PS3 will be Wi-Fi compatible too.

Also I didn't think there was exactly a market in China because of the government, also I never hear any sales numbers from China.

Yeah, but no memory cards for the Wii. Also look at Google, the government asked them to not show results from the protest from a while back and Google said ok. Also I'm pretty sure Google gives the government info on peoples searches on stuff they shouldn't be searching for. They control quite a bit.

yeah i knew that... google looks out for certain serches... like the other day in your country... some teens were going to go on a killing spree and they were stopped becuase it got on the interent

Neo I meant in China. Roy he meant the Final Fantasy CC game announced for the Wii. But I don't think those were real screenshots as I have seen most everything that has been released screenwise.

This will probably be a shock for most of you but the most succesful conmsole will probably ps3. Why you may ask? Xbox 360 does not get good response in japan. Nintendo allways gets bad rsponse here in europe. And plasystation allways sells no matter where. I think the Wii will be much more fun but Playstation will win the war.
