Super Mario 64

Super Mario 64: Review my Stars!
Back in the age of the Nintendo 64, Super Mario of the 64 brought out a fun new 3-D style gaming platform where you collect the power of the stars to save Princess Peach. In this version of Mario's epic tale you will adventure to whole new worlds, collect stars and battle bosses. Mario is alone this time but with your skills and his jumping specialty you'll defeat Bowser and save the day!

The Story
Dear Mario... the first of the last words written by Princess Peach in an invitation for Mario to visit the castle and this time it's not for the broken plumbing. You adventure into Princess Peach's Castle and learn that Bowser is waiting at the top of the Castle. Your epic journey begins when you step into the magical paintings in each of the different rooms as you progress your way to Bowser.

+2.5 - I really liked that this adventure was inside Princess Peach's Castle. I thought that this made it unique compared to the past Mario games where all you did was travel the land to search for Bowser's Castle. Too many Mario games do that and it's no longer unique.

+2 - Any adventure with Bowser at the end of the game has to be a great game.

+2 - I liked how you could speak with each of the Toads which added to the story a bit. At the beginning you also had Lakitu and Peach's letter so it was pretty cool.

+1.5 - I liked how the game started you out with Peach's letter. It really pulled you into the game and you immediately became interested.

+1 - I even enjoyed the credits and there was an ending after you defeat Bowser. This is something that I'll always like.

+1 - I liked that the story involved the use of paintings because it was unique and out of the ordinary but I wasn't necessarily thrilled about it either.

Super Mario Kart: Road Rage Review
Super Mario Kart for the Nintendo 64 is among one of the best racing games I ever played. The game is very competitive, enjoyable, exciting and fun to play. This game offers a cool selection of characters of the Mario world and with each character comes race tracks like Bowser's Castle, Mario's Raceway and plenty more. This is a game that anyone of any age can enjoy.

The Story
Unfortunately, there is no story to this game. It's all about the racing.

The Graphics
Back when this game first came out you were always excited to see what could be offered from a new game like this one. You never realize just how much more realistic graphics would become years down the line. As for Mario Kart of the Nintendo 64, they were among the best in graphics for the console. I must say that the only thing I disliked about the graphics was the ship sailing around on Donkey Kong's track did not let you land on it. I tried so hard to land on that ship and when I did, I was absolutely disappointed. Of course, there was no real reason to land on it, but I thought it would be cool.

+2.5 - Most tracks had something to do with one of the characters. I thought this absolutely cool and it made me want to play certain tracks even more than the other ones.

+2.5 - I loved the design for the items. When I saw the Lightning bolt and the Blue Spiked Shell I thought that they were absolutely cool. I was already expecting the Star to be how it was. (I never did play Mario Kart on the older consoles)

+2 - The different tracks were pretty neat. I thought that Bowser's Castle was probably the most creative track in the game. It offered lava and some of Bowser's minions were there. It was just really cool and perfectly designed.

+2 - The concept of the tracks was pretty neat. I liked the scenery of the different tracks and with the way some of the tracks were built was pretty cool. You could even visit Peach's Castle. I know I would also ride o... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi\'s Island

Super Review World 2: Yoshi's Island
Yoshi's Island is another great game devised by Nintendo. This time Mario is in diapers as an infant who falls out of the sky and into the land of Yoshi. In this edition of the Mario saga it could be argued that this is Mario's first epic adventure into a world where he must fight Bowser for the first time.

The Story
The game opens up with a nice little tune that eventually leads into the opening scenes of what happens that causes Baby Mario to fall from a stork. You find out that Magikoopa flies into the stork and grabs Baby Luigi but dropped Baby Mario into the land below. When Mario falls, he falls into the hands of Yoshi and so does the map that the stork was using. Sure enough, Yoshi decides to help Baby Mario find Baby Luigi and the stork who are being held in Bowser's Castle. This adventure takes off through many castles in search for Luigi and bring a happy ending to this story.

+2.5 -  I really liked the fact that unlike most other Mario games, they actually included a real story with this game and gave reason behind what was going on and led up to the Yoshi helping Baby Mario. I felt that this was both unique and pretty cool.

+2.5 - I really liked the fact that the story was somewhat different than the normal Bowser kidnaps Peach and Mario undergoes a long journey to save her. In this, it ultimately, expands the entire Mario saga with something unique to all other Mario games.

+2 - At the end of the game there's a scene that shows a little more to story like Super Mario World. Aren't happy endings great?

+2 - I liked the fact that your adventure led you throughout many castles and when you ran into the bosses of the world, Magikoopa would swoop in and make the bosses bigger. Also added a bit more to the story because of this.

Super Mario World

Super Review World
Super Mario World is the one game that began my childhood addiction for video games throughout the ages. I remember playing this game at the age 3 and thus started a fascination for Mario that I could not control. Everything became Mario this and Mario that. This even led to me creating my own imaginary Mario Worlds outside of the game. My point is that this is probably the highlight of my youthful gaming experience. With having such a great game at the foundation of my childhood interests, this was truly wonderful.

The StoryMario became an instant classic and with that came the age old story of Bowser repeatedly capturing Princess Peach, holding her hostage and the plumber comes to the rescue to save her. Before long, Mario sets off on a journey that leads him throughout dinosaur land, to save Princess Peach from a top Bowser's Castle. In Mario's adventure he comes across 7 castles and 7 of Bowser's children.

+2.5 - I really like the fact that this game helped create the classic that the Mario games have become. Bowser capturing Princess Peach is the standard for most Mario games.

+2.5 - I really like that you travel from area to area to defeat Bowser's children in each of the castles. At end of each Mario destroys the castle when he sees that Princess Peach is not there.

+1.5 - I like that even the credits add a little bit more to the story.

+1.5 - I also like that Yoshi was somewhat apart of the story and is a big part of the game.

The Graphics
The stage is set in side-scrolling fun using 16-bit sprites. Although the sprites of the SNES were very limited, they still offered enough to make games back in the day feel like something special. Reflecting back we tend to try to compare graphics to today's games and think I can't believe I played that game but for Super Mario World that was never the case.

+2.5 - I really enjoyed the layout of the levels and the desig... Read the rest of this Review
Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Review
Super Smash Bros is the first Nintendo game that brings together the many different universes of gaming found on the Nintendo 64. This fighting style platform pulls the powerhouses from Nintendo's more popular games into one unique game. I believe this game to be the beautiful birth to a beautiful series of fighting style games that lives on today as Super Smash Bros: Brawl. There's no where else you can put your favorite characters to an all out fight to see who is the most powerful fighter of the Nintendo world.

Graphics: 9
I do think that the graphics of this game took a small step backwards compared to those of Super Mario 64 and Legend of Zelda which part of this game originates from. The reason for this is due to the fact that most the levels are built by blocks and is relatively flat and 2 dimensional. Aside from this I do love that the levels seemed somewhat eye catching. First, your stages are designed with a nice set of texture and second, each stage offers a few different effects that can take place. On the Castle stage, for example, the Tornado may hurl you into the sky which could easily lead to your death. I liked that this helped make the stage feel like there's more than feeling so 2 dimensional.

I also liked the animations by the characters and the items. Some of the items like Poke balls have cool little animations and is appealing to the game play. The home run bat is probably my favorite. Whenever you get the bat ready for the 1 hit KO is just awesome and makes me laugh every time. There is a lot that is offered in terms of graphics and it really helps pull the gamer into the game. Super Smash Bros is one of those games that did a pretty decent job at this even after the little set back. I feel a 9 is a suitable ranking for graphics.

Sound: 10
The sounds for this game really stand up to the expectations from combining games. First, you have the music and character sounds that come from each of their respective ga... Read the rest of this Review

Pacific Theater of Review
I played this game once from start to finish and I must say that I was disappointed in the quality of the game. The game was missing a lot of things all the way around and it's not normal for me to rank a strategy game so low considering that I love to play strategy based war games. This game is lacking in all aspects, graphics, sound and even addictiveness. I can't see how many people would even bother with playing this game too much because of it's overall poor quality. There's nothing that even stands out in it that could compete with KOEI's other games. This is possibly the least liked strategy game I've ever played.

Graphics: 5
I could understand that some games just aren't going to be all that great, however, this game just has no graphics. At most there are a few small animations that might look cool at first. After awhile it just gets boring. Nothing stands out and nothing really appeals to me after the one time I played through it. There's nothing special about the graphics, they're plain, boring and barely 2 dimensional. Other games of this genre offered so much more to the eye but this just looks bad. I would like to see a game like this in the modern day because maybe then it could actually be a good game with proper graphics and proper animations.

For being a game of the SNES it was just a huge let down. Genghis Khan 2 and Romance of the Three Kingdoms 3 or 4 offered much more appealing graphics that would maintain some visual appeal. Even Civilization was more eye catching than this game and that game was written with DOS. Graphics and animations are just all around lacking so this aspect of the game only gets a 5 out of 10.

Sound: 5
I can't say much for the sound either. There's not much in this that appeals to the eyes in the same way that the graphics don't appeal to the eyes. I have to turn all the sounds off because it just gets on my nerves. Sound just does not help the cause to playing this game and it really ... Read the rest of this Review

Diddy Kong Racing: Review Balloon
Diddy Kong Racing brings me back to the good old days when I was told by my mom to take the trash out and I saw a shooting star for the first and only time in my life. Standing there in front of the dumpster I wished for the new Diddy Kong Racing game that just came out. Shortly afterwards, my wish was granted and as a child I sucked at this game so bad but it was well worth it. Diddy Kong Racing is the Rare version of Mario Kart Racing consisting of Rare characters like Diddy, Conker and Banjo. The game offers a cool competitive counterpart to the Mario Kart game with an actual world you can explore and different race tracks you can venture to. If believe that Mario Kart was the only real good racing game of it's time, you are sorely mistaken. Diddy Kong Racing opened a new door to racing with an exciting racing environment unlike the Mario Kart series.

Graphics: 9
Eye-catching is probably one of the best words to describe this game's graphics. Each race track was detailed and offered variety. As you raced each track the scenery would change as you progressed back to the start line. Personally, I liked that the race tracks were, for the most part, big but they also offered cool changes in scenery and it felt more like a world instead of a racetrack. To add to this, each level felt new and unique which really helps to keep your interest up in the game. There's also a cool world you can roam around in that you could explore that took you to all the different race tracks of the main game.

Comparing to Mario Kart 64 I'd have to say that I prefer the race track designs and scenery of Diddy Kong Racing over Mario Kart simply due to Mario Kart's limited designs. Mario Kart's levels never really offered anything different as you progressed except that a few race tracks offered some change, however, Diddy Kong's race tracks offered quite a bit of difference between most tracks. In Mario Kart, Rainbow Road just felt like it would drag out forever but th... Read the rest of this Review

Donkey Kong 64: Bananas and A Review
Donkey Kong on the Nintendo 64 has to be the largest Donkey Kong ever created. There's grand new worlds to explore as well as cool new abilities, Kongs, Bananas and so much more. To add to the excitement, Donkey Kong took the old side scrolling gaming concept and updated it to a 3-D version on Donkey Kong Country. This game has a lot of adventure for the wonderful world of Donkey Kong.

Graphics: 9
I will admit that the graphics seem a bit bulgy but other than that I think there was a lot of effort put into the detail of this game. Everything from the worlds to the items you collect are pretty detailed and appeal to the eye. Being that this was a game that launched in the Nintendo 64 era, I'd have to say this was one of the games that offered the most in terms of graphics. The layout of each world is built for fun and each theme is pretty spot on in my opinion. I liked how each world seemed to flow together pretty well and it really felt like it had a Donkey Kong Country feel to it.

One of the things I liked most about the graphics probably starts with the cut-scenes. I liked how the game offered something you could watch after you finished off the boss to the world. I liked that while you were making progress you could see King K. Rool was making progress. I thought that this really helped bring out the story within the game and added more of a purpose to what you're doing this compared to the Donkey Kong Country series. The overall 9 I gave for these graphics I felt were great but not quite among the best I've seen.

Sound: 9
There were a few things that really stood out to me. The first thing I noticed was the Donkey Kong Rap at the beginning of the game. I thought it was ridiculous but funny and as a kid I still tried to sing it. The other element that really stood out to me were some of the boss songs and sounds. One boss in particular just had me laughing non-stop because I thought it was ridiculous and if I play the game again... Read the rest of this Review

Donkey Kong Country 2: Troublesome Review
Donkey Kong Country 2 is absolutely amazing and honestly my favorite of the Donkey Kong Country series. I love that Diddy and Dixie Kong are paired up because this duo is quite troublesome. On top of that, this is a direct sequel to the 1st game where King K. Rool's ship crashes on nearby Kremlin Island after the battle with King K. Rool from the first game. (Doesn't necessarily explain how Dixie found her way here, but who cares?! :D ). Even though this game is from the Super Nintendo era it will still literally rock your world!

**Please note that anything I put into parentheses are like my thought bubble while typing up this review**

Graphics: 10
I've gotta say that these graphics are fun and exciting. All graphics are clear and very detailed and really depict the concept of the level you're playing. To add to that, the levels are really well constructed. Take, for example, the Honey levels which I just thought was very cool. In fact all the levels on this game are extremely cool and when I first played this game, they surprised me with the level of creativity that was put into this game. Animations are no joke either, these really add to the upbeat persona that the Diddy/Dixie duo have. Altogether, it was just sheer brilliance.

Sound: 10
You can't ask for better music or sounds. Even now it's been many years since I've last played this game and I can still remember some of the music that was played in this game (No Joke). I love the music and honestly, it was very unique which added to the excitement for playing this game. If I had to choose favorite songs I'd have to say Bramble Blast was pretty cool and the song where you turn into the snake and jump across the ship (It was really fast and upbeat). Those 2 songs really made the music on this game for me. I really enjoyed the rest of it too, but it was these songs that stuck with me many years later.

Donkey Kong Country - Competition Edition
07-05-13 09:56 PM
Donkey Kong Competition Review
Donkey Kong Country is a great series of games that brings out the awesomeness in the Super Nintendo with classic side scrolling fun. Donkey Kong Country Competition Edition was a specially made competition for a blockbuster event back when Donkey Kong Country was released. Unfortunately, I was only 4 years old when I was given the actual game for my birthday and I knew nothing about this until I found myself on the Vizzed site. This special edition to the series is only a competition starting with the first level and jumping around other levels for the purpose of competing for a high score in 5 minutes.

Overall: 10
So this review is going to be somewhat unlike any other review I've typed up because this is a special game. Special game equals special review. To add to that, the competition for this game is going on while I review it so it's kind of like calling it a live review because I'm competing while reviewing (See what I did there? :) ). Anyway, what I like about this game is that it's a fairly simple competition but at the same time, fairly difficult too. All you have to do is rack in the points as fast as you can in 5 minutes by repeating the same actions over and over again or by completing as many levels as you can. It's as simple as that but still very difficult to compete. I give it a 10 overall because there aren't any other games (That I know of) that are like this game. It's pretty unique and it's still very simple.

Addictiveness: 10
I find myself competing during this Vizzed competition to get the highest score I can. Knowing I've already earned the highest score on Vizzed (currently at this point in time), I still find myself trying to best it. I know that other players are attempting to make their mark and if their method is more successful than my method then I might fall behind and I don't want that. This rating is based solely on the competition. Knowing that rcarter was 1st place with 100 points less than my best score... Read the rest of this Review

Mario Party 3: Let's Review This Party!
Mario Party 3 is my favorite and what I think as the best of the Mario Party series. The Mario Party games are well known as family games and within my family, it was a tradition to buy the new Mario Party for Christmas each year. In this 3rd installment you're given a nice selection of characters including the 2 new additions Waluigi and Daisy who prove troublesome when playing the main game. In fact, each Mario Party is unique in some way and that's no different for this.

Graphics: 10
There's absolutely nothing wrong with these greats, in fact, I think they're some of the better graphics the N64 had to offer. What I like about these graphics is that they help pull you until the game. They're easy on the eyes and it helps keep you entertained. The animations are the same way. Personally, I liked the Snow Board the best because I thought it looked cool and it was probably the most fun for me. On top of that, the items were a couple steps above the items created for Mario Party 2. They look cool and they did cool things. Honestly, I felt that the items in this game are the best of any Mario Party to do this. These graphics are perfect for a Mario Party game.

Sound: 9
I've always loved Mario and the music that comes with it is addicting. The music of this game is definitely party based which really adds to the concept of playing this kind of game. The game offers plenty of different songs for the different mini-games and for playing the actual board. I consider that a thumbs up for offering so much. The one thing I dislike it that it seemed like the sound effects were louder than the music. Personally, I like to hear the music because I already know the sound effects are going to be repetitive especially if we end up playing the same mini-game again later. If the effects were turned down a bit then I would have easily given this a 10.

Addictiveness: 10

Banjo-Tooie: A Whole New Review
Banjo-Tooie is an absolutely wonderful game and we have Rare and the prequel: Banjo-Kazooie to thank for this. Banjo-Tooie brings out a whole new adventure centered around evil Gruntilda the witch and her 2 sisters who help Grunty escape from certain death. This action packed adventure brings out a whole new set of moves you can learn, band new story, all star cast from the first game with new additions and the humor you enjoyed from Banjo-Kazooie. I recommend you play Banjo-Kazooie first if you haven't done so already because this game is a direct sequel to the events that happened in the first game. Playing Banjo-Kazooie might help you understand some of the events that take place in this game.

Graphics: 10
The graphics are absolutely amazing, even for the Nintendo 64. I'd have to say that the graphics put into this game are potentially the best, if not THE BEST. Graphics are clear, detailed and offer much to see. What's great about this game's graphics is how cool the game looked. Compared to Banjo-Kazooie (which was also great), Banjo-Tooie took this to a all new level. Each level or area presented great new wonders to explore and discover. To be honest, it kind of added to the excitement of playing. I remember as a child actually feeling nervous to play Witchy World because it was creepy and I couldn't figure out everything at the time. It made the game more challenging, fun and exciting all at the same time.

The animations are no joke either and like the graphics these too added to the excitement of playing the game. What's awesome is how many animations that were added into the game. There's also plenty of scenes where Banjo might walk into an area where the camera backs out and you can see how much there is just in that area alone. Compared to Banjo-Kazooie, this game went above and beyond what you'd expect from a sequel. I might even go as far as stating that this sequel could be better than the first. For the Nintendo 64 era back almo... Read the rest of this Review

Majora's Mask: Review This!
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's mask is a sequel to the Ocarina of Time. This time around Link leaves the land of Hyrule and sets out to Clock Town. Unfortunately for Link another adventure begins for the young hero with new temples, different weapons, a whole selection of masks to discover and you only have 3 days to do everything. With all new puzzles and a great adventure waiting in store for you, you'll see why I gave this game a 10/10.

Graphics: 10Much like Ocarina of Time this game also brought out the best in Nintendo 64 technology and by adding more to it. What I like about this game's graphics starts with the masks. I really liked the transition from Link to the Deku scrub in the beginning of the game. In a way, it kind of hooks you into the game to see more and find out what the game is about. I also liked the quality of the colors and the structures seemed to be more colorful in this game. For me it's the small things that make the biggest differences. I also liked how the graphics made Majora's Mask really look like it was consumed by evil. That stare that the mask gives was pretty creepy.

Animations were pretty cool and I was surprised by the random hand in the toilet. As a kid I remember laughing at it and thought that there had to be someone trapped in there. One of the coolest aspects the game had to offer begins with the water tornado surrounding the water temple. When I saw that, I thought it was nothing less than awesome. This goes for the same with the masks too actually. before I go any further I always want to add that I liked how each of the temple areas change the surrounding settings which offers more to do and more to discover.

Sound: 10I have to say that I loved the music of this game and compared to the Ocarina of Time, I'd have to say that the music here is possibly better. Majora's Mask, compared to The Ocarina of Time, seemed like it offered more and the music play a bigger role within the game. In Majora's Ma... Read the rest of this Review

Legend of Zelda: Review of Time
Beginning with the Famicon Disk System, The Legend of Zelda has encountered many Legends and undergone many journeys. In this version, The Ocarina of Time marked the world of gaming as one of the most anticipated games of the Nintendo 64 era and possibly the most anticipated game of all-time. There's no doubt in my mind that Ocarina of Time is the best Legend of Zelda to this day. On top of that, in the wonderful world of Vizzed, Ocarina of Time is the most popular N64 game. Released November 1998, I remember having this game per-ordered for Christmas and when I first saw that gold cartridge, I thought that was way cool. I was so absorbed into the game when I finally had an opportunity to play it. This legend is the icon and the pinnacle of The Legend of Zelda series.

Overall: 10
One of the many joys of playing this game begins with the controls and game play. It was easy to master the controls which left out a lot of the frustrations that games, to this day, still have trouble with. The game play was a cut above anything I had ever seen. This took Legend of Zelda to an all-time high and even higher than the Mario games with it's flawless quality. I'm also going to add that when you played Ocarina of Time, you jump right into the fun and it keeps you hooked until you defeat your long time rival, Ganon. You're not bound to any tutorial and if you know what you're doing you can make a mad dash for the things you need to do with no effort.

The quality of this game is legendary. Taking into consideration the quality in graphics, quality of the music compositions, the story and much more, Legend of Zelda is the game to beat for this franchise. It set the bar high. Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword of the WII fell short of that bar. They were still great games but they weren't equals to the Ocarina of Time. One of the reasons I say this is due to the high expectations set from playing Ocarina of Time. After completing Twilight Princess and Skyward ... Read the rest of this Review

Donkey Kong Country: King of the Jungle
For my 4th birthday, my parents bought me Donkey Kong Country. I remember jumping up and down and fighting to kick off whoever was on the Super Nintendo moments later. Donkey Kong instantly became a gaming icon among my family. This game was brilliant. Who would have thought a side scrolling game with a guerrilla and a chimp could be so fun and so popular? This game has wonderful music, it's very addictive, competitive and it was a great buy at the time. It was well worth having in my collection and well worth the time spent playing.

Overall: 10
When this game was released it was a great buy. It's fun playing single player and much more fun competing with friends. Donkey Kong Country offers a lot of good music and the levels were designed to be awesome. If you've never played this game, I'd suggest you play it right now, you didn't even need to finish this review. Just go play. It's much more fun than it is reading a review about it! If you still aren't convinced, I suggest you find someone to play with. The netplay offered on Vizzed should help find you a partner and it would be fun to try and out-do each other. Overall, the game is great and it's exactly what you need in a SNES game.

Graphics: 8
The graphics were pretty awesome with plenty of room for improvement. I think when Rare created this game, they held back a little too much. It was designed very well and it was very appealing, however, I could see the game itself being kicked up another level or 2 before they even created the sequels and even during the sequels, they could have taken their game to an all greater level. I still don't complain about the animations or graphics that were used because it fit perfectly and made the game very enjoyable. Compared to other games on the console, it didn't do so bad. I'd still hold this game's graphics above many other games and even some on the Nintendo 64.

Banjo Kazooie Jiggy Review
There is nothing less than high praises for the bear and bird in this epic adventure game. Similar to the Super Mario 64 game, Banjo and Kazooie go on an adventure to save Tooty by collecting numerous new moves, Jigsaw pieces, music notes and battling through epic worlds. This platform is a masterpiece of humor, excitement, adventure and puzzles, literally puzzles. We have Rare to thank for creating such an awesome game and collection of ideas. Like I said before, there's nothing but high praises for this game. You would not be disappointed by playing this game and it is literally one of the best I've played in my youth.

Graphics: 10
Simply stunning. When the Nintendo 64 released with this 3-D world that we could explore, it was just all around awesome. These graphics were fascinating because it took other adventure games to a whole new level. Compared to it's main competitor, Mario, Banjo could have easily become a threat. These graphics were great, everything from the opening scenes, title screen to the credits, everything about the game's graphics just pop and you see everything so perfectly. It's unique, exciting and very enjoyable.

Taking Freezee Peak as an example, the graphics are cool. The Christmas tree is all decorated really nicely, the Snowman is dressed with a scarf and top hat and just really nice to see creativity as pure as this without ripping off any other games. What's cool is that you are able to explore most worlds from top to bottom and the programmers made use of everything, even the buttons on the Snowman. Another great example is the last level you adventure to before climbing the lair to the final boss. in this level, you are able to explore the same level through the 4 seasons and it changes enough to where each season almost creates a new level aside from the main paths. The animations just add humor and fun on top of the graphics.

Final Fantasy 2: Beyond the Legend
The Final Fantasy series is an absolutely stunning and brilliant creation for any old or new console. To me, Final Fantasy 2 is an ingenious  storyline, perfectly addicting and beyond entertaining. Who do we have to thank for this wonderful game? Square Soft. I consider Final Fantasy 2 to be on my top 2 list of all time favorite games, right next to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I mention this because Square Soft also included a Final Fantasy theme in Super Mario RPG. Without Square Soft, neither of these 2 games would have been the masterpiece that they both are.

Overall: 10
I promise that it will be difficult to find a better game than this. The overall quality of this gaming art is priceless in value. This game is intelligent, challenging, leaves you sitting at the edge of your seat, enjoyable, fun and easily worth the time spent playing. Final Fantasy 2 draws you in and doesn't let you go, it's what great games do. Unfortunately for me I was snagged by this game and I have literally played it 100s of times from my early childhood to even now as a 22 year old adult. This is a game for anyone of any age and you will still enjoy it. Final Fantasy 2 opened my mind to the RPG world. It still has a grasp on me to this day! That should be enough evidence be enough evidence of what this game is capable of.

Graphics: 8
As I reflect on the quality of the SNES through the 90s, it was one very powerful console. The quality of the graphics worked quite well for this game but I'm sure that there was a lot more potential for awesome graphics. These graphics were still great and the final boss was really cool but I know there was room for better. In some ways, the graphics actually made this game more addicting. Whether you're using summon magic or just riding around in your airship, it was still well worth the time. There is no such thing as too much or too little in terms of graphics. I wouldn't complain!

Command & Conquer

N64 Command & Conquer Reviewed
Nowadays when gamers see Command and Conquer they're seeing Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 and Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars and other titles which are all offspring from games like this. This particular game is a 1995 title released for the PC and N64. Personally, I really enjoyed this game through the years which I possessed it. The game has a lot to offer, but this review will be reviewing the game as if it were 1995 and not 2012 with an obvious 17 year difference. This was a great strategy game for it's time! This game is the classic Command and Conquer for Command and Conquer lovers!

Overall: 9
First off, I loved the additional Special Ops features added to the game. These were, arguably, the best part of the game. In the main campaign itself you were forced to play each mission with a restricted set of building and military. Once you began gaining victories you would sometimes earn something for the next mission because your opponent would too. The game itself is very enjoyable although a few components of the game are annoying or repetitive.

Graphics: 6
The quality of graphics was not nearly the best they could have done at the time. With great quality SNES games, where graphics are still really desirable, I figured this game would easily have matched that at least. Truth is: this game's graphics really didn't put me into awe. The animations are pretty decent for the most part. They work but they're just simple movements. The landscape is very repetitive, it's either always green or always brown. This is the weakest part of the game, but a real gamer understands that graphics isn't everything! The game play is a different story.

Sound: 7
There might be a few tunes on here you might like. I personally favorited 2 of the songs in the game, but with a soundtrack of 15 or so songs, you don't have any variety at all. Some of the sounds can be repetitive but it shouldn't be too annoying. Things like "yes s... Read the rest of this Review
Aerobiz Supersonic

Aerobiz Supersonic: Strategy Gaming!
I have to begin this topic off with KOEI. KOEI is the mastermind behind a majority of the strategy games found on the SNES. Aerobiz Supersonic is another one of those pretty cool games given birth by KOEI. This time it's a game about airline business planning. You take the role of the new airline CEO of whichever city you choose to create your hub or base from. In this game itself you compete against 3 other airlines to boost profits while expanding the business. The goal of the game is to rank 1st in 4 parts of the world for a year. If you manage that much, you win the game. It is pretty cool and far from a bad game, at least for the strategy seekers.

Overall: 7
As previously stated, it isn't a bad game at all but it also isn't the best game. The game itself can present some difficulties that might leave you feeling like the game is dead-set against you. Most of the aspects of the game work fairly well, but also seems pretty weak, even for the SNES. Overall, the game can be fun.

Graphics: 5
Graphics, to say the least, are somewhat weak. The definitely work for the game, but the overall quality does not amaze me. One concern of mine is the amount of graphics, everything is basically still pictures and nothing ever really changes. Whenever you open a new route you can see a plane flying to and from but overall animations are limited to a star flashing, a plane moving back and forth and a plane showing you in comparison to other players. Graphics do not make the eyes go wow but they don't totally suck either.

Sound: 5
Ha ha, music... Music can be really annoying sometimes and other times kind of cool. It can really get on your nerves when you're on the main menu screen selecting all the different settings before you start your game. During this part of the game you'll really want to crank up your stereo. After you get into the game, it's not nearly as bad. I could probably trade some of the music they had for this game for ... Sim Ant: Colonized Review
Would you play a game where you control a single ant who leads an army of ants for total dominance in the yard? Sim ant is that very game! In this game you lead your army of ants to combat the ferocious red ants. Classic racist game of black vs red, just kidding. There isn't too many details to get into with this game because it is really simple, so this review may be rather short.

Overall: 6
The game has very few complexities and it's really full of repetitive death. If it's not the spider, it's the lawn mower, foot or red ant on a kamikaze mission to kill JUST YOU. Considering the game has been played 17,000 times, it is slightly popular despite some of it's simplicity. Although it lacks just about everything, it can be entertaining I you're bored and searching for something to do. Personally, I remember this game from my childhood. Even now I ask myself "Why did my parents purchase this game in the first place? It's a random game about ants???" and I still have no answer. Overall, it isn't a horrible game.

Graphics: 5
These graphics are what you would expect in the early 90s. They're not horrible, but don't expect anyone from a newer generation to have the desire to pick a game like this up, mostly because of the graphics. As I reflect, they do stand out as weak. This is nothing like the Super Mario Bros 3 even on the NES or the Super Mario World. I question whether or not there were more than 5 different people back then capable of producing higher quality graphics with what they have. Sadly, this game had the potential to look and feel much better.

Sound: 4
Annoying. You are repeatedly moving your yellow ant around and around and around and sometimes with no other sounds. You might hear a lawn mower go off in the distance and the resident do a half-(insert swear word here)ed quick job on the lawn where your ant is now sprinting for it's life (population control) and generally, you die again and again and again. Mario RPG: Legendary Review
Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is what I have described to be the best game ever devised by any Nintendo affiliated company or Nintendo itself. Hands down, this is my number 1 choice of any video game of any console. You might think I'm crazy, but I promise you, I'm not. Mario is off to another adventure in this game to save Mushroom Kingdom from impending doom. Incorporating the old fashioned style gaming into new ideas brought forth a whole new world of Mario, the role playing side. Incredibly, Mario worked out astonishingly well in this genre and style.

Mario RPG brings out a whole new game with awesome enemies, new twisted story, great new friends, fresh new levels and another incredibly well orchestrated series of music. The world of Mario RPG will not bring you disappointment. It is purely fun, exciting and keeps you coming back no matter how well you have memorized this game!! I guarantee this.

Overall: 10
Masterpiece. The quality of this SNES game is a cut above the rest and you will quickly find yourself loving almost every aspect of this fine tailored video game. Many gamers asked Nintendo to create a Mario RPG 2 because the game was such a success. A game like this should represent  what gamers were looking  for. Some of the newer games "Mario Superstar Saga" began their debut as the expansion to this genre. That was Nintendo's answer to an expansion for what was a remarkable game. I was somewhat disappointed in Nintendo, but never disappointed in this game. I will die, one day, knowing this game was seriously the best in my list.

Graphics: 10
You will never be disappointed with these graphics. The sprites are crystal clear, spells have awesome animations and ideally, this game was the picture perfect health of the SNES console. This role playing game seriously rose the limits and capabilities of the SNES beyond every game sprung forth. I still love these graphics over Call of Duty and Hal... Read the rest of this Review
Rampart

Rampart Review
Rampart is a unique and simple strategy game. Basically, you own a kingdom, which you are able to place, and you earn cannons. These cannons you use to fire at incoming ships who fire back. After each round you have the ability to repair, build and create more cannons depending on how quickly you build over other castles in the land. Unfortunately, the game is rather simple and there isn't too much complexity but it is a challenge to play.

Overall: 4
This is rather a weak game. Of course it was a SNES game, but there was much more that could be added to a game like this even at the time of creation. Unfortunately, the game can be addictive but not for long and even if you do play it, you don't play it for long. I grew up with this on my SNES, so I was very familiar with it. There isn't much to say with a game that has so little to offer.

Graphics: 3
The game is played in DOS, as far as I know. There isn't anything exciting about looking at this game or watching it be played. With how the graphics were developed, they completely hindered the already low quality of the game.

Sound: 4
Again, nothing special. It isn't the most annoying set of sounds you'll ever hear. Nothing in particular to point out either.

Addictiveness: 5
Rampart can be sometimes addictive. When you're on a roll it can be fun, otherwise, most of the time it's not. It wouldn't surprise me if you tried this game and never picked it up again because it's really not something you'd expect players to par-take in often. I gave this game a generous 5, let that be known.

Story: 1
There is no story. You go from level to level battling an onslaught of enemy ships to the point where it's just boring anyway. Just assume there is a story and that there are foreign invaders trying to conquer your lands.

Depth: 5
It's really not even that in depth. The game is simple.. blast and build and that's all. Strategy itself is at mercy in this g... Read the rest of this Review
Uncharted Waters

Uncharted Waters SNES
There's only one word needed to describe this strategy game; KOEI. Having been a KOEI fan most of my life, I enjoyed many of their still great strategy games including Uncharted Waters. I own the Sega Genesis console and still play this great game today. This game places you in the role of "Leon Franco" whom you have the option of changing the name. There is only 1 way to win this game, but there are multiple objectives you can accomplish as an explorer of the game itself. You may also go about winning this game in different ways as well, which makes this Koei game unique to the others.

Overall: 10
The RPG/Strategy behind this game is wonderful. You have the option of building fame through trading, exploration, battling or doing favors for other merchants. You have many ports to search for with the entire world as your boundary. Even though this game is almost 20 years old (or could be) it is still a cut above strategy games we see now within our more modern era. If you think this game isn't worth playing, you're wrong. I ask that you try it once and give it a fair chance. You may agree with me. This is a KOEI strategy game, nothing goes wrong.

Graphics: 5
I personally have no problem with the graphics, but I ranked them half-way because of the comparison between today's graphics and Snes capable graphics. This game could be a perfect example of trading good graphics for good game play. Which would you prefer?

Sound: 7
There aren't many different sounds you find throughout this game, but of the music and sounds you do encounter, they are pretty decent. These are mostly related to regions which is a decent way to go about the music. I would have asked the developers to add something different for the sailing portion as you sail around the world and add more region based music as well. Overall, the sound isn't bad.

Addictiveness: 10
There's nothing wrong with having an addiction for a game you enjoy. I ranked... Read the rest of this Review
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV - Wall of Fire

SNES: ROTK4 Review
Second Review - ROTK4

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a KOEI historical simulation strategy game based on a divided China, after the fall of the Han Dynasty, giving rise to several emperors taking rightful claim to a divided throne. These factions fought each other for many years until one faction unified all the lands of China. You take on the role as one of many Emperors but it's no easy task. With only a small portion of China under your command, you must build yourself a powerful war machine to set out across the lands of China and claim your rightful place as Emperor. You'll need to recruit many generals, negotiate alliances with friends, build weapons, develop infrastructure, train armies, conduct espionage and withstand nature before war consumes all the far corners of China.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms is not for everyone. If you're a big fan of strategy games, especially games with a lot of depth, you'll enjoy the many possibilities this game will offer. Your strategic genius will be challenged and put to the test, especially if you create your own Three Kingdoms Dynasty.

Overall: 8
Romance of the Three Kingdoms provides a unique strategy core element that doesn't exist in many of Koei's older titles. Some of these elements allow you to micromanage your faction on a great scale. Many of these older titles allow you to scratch the surface of strategy but Romance of the Three Kingdoms goes much deeper. ROTK offers flexibility within it's options for each general. You can command your men to carry out several tasks including, but not limited to, espionage and war. Espionage, alone, offers several options like Commit Arson and Bribe so that you can weaken your enemies. Generals also have abilities, which is one of the earliest games I noticed that offered a clean set of abilities that make some generals more powerful than other generals, even if they don't have better statistics. If you haven't noticed, strategy depends en... Read the rest of this Review

Mario Paint: Dream of Creativity
First Review

I created this review of Mario Paint because I was severely disappointed with the reviews I read for this game. Unlike many other games, Mario Paint offers a variety of options for creative minded gamers with the ability to create music or paint, as the game suggests in it's title. The overall purpose allowed children of my generation something different to look forward to. Instead of running across the screen grabbing mushrooms and finishing levels, we were able to create our own "pretend" levels, music and so much more. In my youth (meaning I was a child long ago), I would use my imagination to create imaginary Mario-like worlds beyond the game. This imagination I possessed allowed me to scribble my non-creative talents to draw up worlds and make music that I thought could be like Mario. As it stands, this Mario Paint Rom, is probably the most user-friendly design I've ever seen. As a child, this was an amazing look into the window of level design.

Overall: 8
Thinking entirely of the creative aspect of the game, you won't find anything better than this. Your abilities allow you to create music or paintings that are Mario-like. Imagination is the driving force behind your desire to play this game. Mario paint is very unique in the sense that within 2 decades and on, there has not been a newer version of the Mario Paint game created by Nintendo. I don't even think there is any other game on the market that works anything like this. Although the Mario Paint game works like a computer program or series of programs, it does work quite well when you know what you're doing.
One thing I like about Mario Paint being on Vizzed is the ability to present unique competitions that you will never be able to find elsewhere. I haven't seen any other music producing games or painting games that work quite like this one does. Given that Vizzed has already held competitions using this game, I'd like to see Vizzed offer more. The competition swir... Read the rest of this Review

[OFFICIAL] Fix Super Mario RPG Guide
Introduction
Welcome! If you're here and reading this, it's because you're experiencing problems with Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars. I'm dedicating this thread to fix all known problems for the ROM. Posting in the comments or creating several threads over the same issues is counter-productive so I'll be combining everything I find and adding it here. I encourage anyone who has problems to post below and share. This will help a solution sooner.

Known Issues
-Freezing
-Sprites may take awhile to load (Land's End Desert Rooms and Tadpole Pond's Musical Tadpoles Room)
-Frame Rate Drops (Running through rooms with several monsters or during battle)

Freezing Points
-Sometimes when you use the menu (Items or Equipment usually)
-Sometimes when you acquire a star (2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th)
-Moleville Minecart Ride
-Immediately after the fight with Johnny
-Whenever Breaker Beam is used

Freezing Fix Method 1
The first method for fixing the freezing issues uses the Save State [F2] and Load Save State [F4]. Right before you reach any point that freezes you should Save State your place and when the game freezes, you should Load Save State to try again. If you do this a couple times, you might push the game through the freezing and can continue with no problems.

-In the process of making a short video. Will add this tomorrow

Freezing Fix Method 2
This method is a little more efficient and fixes most of the freezing but not all of it. Sometimes you'll have random moments where it'll freeze even if you've done everything right. What you do is activate PAL mode, which drops the max frame rate from 60 per second to 50 per second. There appears to be some instability caused by the 60 frame rate. Switching from 60 to 50 basically plays the Mario RPG like it's the Japanese version speed. That's all it does but it fixes some freezes.

1) Load the game

2) When the game is loaded,... Read the rest of this Guide

Suikoden: Guide of Destiny
WarningThis Game Guide is designed to provide insight into all of the elements that are found throughout this game. There is a pretty intense story line that follows the plot of this game and if you're a player who doesn't want to read spoilers, this guide is not designed for you. Most of, if not all of, the information provided on this page will contain many spoilers. The actual game will begin after the Introduction Section, in which the guide is designed to follow the game all the way until the end. Most spoilers will be listed in the Character parts of the Introduction. The information provided in the character section is found both in the game and from external sources. Some characters have so little information regarding their existence that they're only a name in the game. Other spoilers relate entirely to the True Runes, in which there are so few details about specific Runes that these details were also acquired from an external source. All of the game play is my own work, generated out of memory from having played and finished this game multiple times over the years. These details have been checked for accuracy.

Each section of this guide will contain several parts and a lot of information to read through. The length of the game is actually quite short and can be finished in full within 8 hours if you are very experienced. This might not seem to be the case due to long scenes and talking scenes but that's for the purpose of following along with the story. The entire story may have some minor changes if you were to replay the game differently a second time through. Depending on the results of your game effects it's ending and may change what happens after the game has ended. In order to complete the game 100% you will need to obtain all 108 Stars of Destiny. If you complete the Suikoden game with all 108 Stars of Destiny, you'll be able to load your data for Suikoden 2. Loading data from Suikoden 1 to Suikoden 2 will result in some dialogue cha... PS1 Theme Hospital Game Guide
IntroductionTheme Hospital is a casual strategy game revolving around the concept of running your very own hospital. You're required to invest your money in different ways to improve your hospital. While you're investing, so are 3 competitors in the surrounding area of each level. You can hire staff, customize floor plans, purchase hospital expansions, research and more. Your main focus is to help patients become happy and healthy. If you fail to make your patients happy, they'll die and your reputation will suffer. You'll need to balance your budget so that you don't fall too far behind the competition and too far in debt. If you don't think ahead, your hospital and reputation will plummet.

Red highlights each section.
Green highlights sub sections within each section.
Light Blue highlights other details.

Characters - StaffThis part of the guide is designed to explain the different characters who can be employed to your hospital. There are 2 main forms of character in this game; staff and patient. The role of the staff is to attend to the patients visiting your hospital. Each member of your staff has specific jobs they are required to do and can not do the work of the different types of staff. One general rule for hiring staff relates to the amount of money they make. The faster, harder working members of staff are generally paid more. These members of staff have a higher ability bar so they can do much more work in less time than members of staff with lower bars. When hiring staff you can always choose to read the description of that member. If it reads "Fast and Hard-Working" they'll be a good fit. If they read "Rude and Abrasive" then they are slow and take longer.

The other major factor that determines staff's ability to work is their happiness. You can improve any member of the staff with several methods. When designing the different floor plans, you'll want to be sure you give the room plenty of space and add plenty of windo... Read the rest of this Guide

Genghis Khan 2: Tricks, Tips and Tactics
My first Genghis Khan Guide?was created to help players understand the different functions found throughout the game and explained each option in detail. It also explained, in minimal detail, what can be done in terms of game-play and as a player. I've designed this guide to cover the different tricks, tips and tactics I use to play Genghis Khan 2 with some detail as to what each function is and detail as to what I do. I hope that I can help players understand the different elements on a greater level and create a strategic guide to success even if this isn't a walk-through. This guide will cover each element one at a time in a semi-step by step setup to build your nation.

Red indicates each different element.
Light Blue highlights each key factor of each element..
Yellow highlights other things to pay attention to. This color is bleeding through the rest of the thread and causes all non-yellow text to become yellow. Each section has "Tricks Tips and Tactics" labelled on it for specifics.

A New Game
This guide is designed to work as any nation for any of the 4 scenarios you can play. For newer/less experienced players, I recommend you play as Temujin/Genghis Khan as he is the original Khan that conquered most of the known world. I also recommend you begin your game in the Mongol Conquest Scenario. Temujin begins with access to powerful generals which will impact the game quite a bit. Other nations lack powerful generals. All AI will not use their better generals for war so they can not be captured or persuaded to join.

The reason why I recommend you begin with Mongol Conquest is because you get to choose 8 generals and an adviser to take with you to the second scenario. You must unite the Mongolian Steppes before the year 1214 in order to proceed to the second scenario. Tayan Khan would be the easiest to play on the Mongol Conquest because he begins with 2 territories. This might be the ideal choice to start but lack of general... Read the rest of this Guide
Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros Guide
Super Smash Bros is the first of a series of games that brings together the universe hidden within Nintendo's world of gaming. Smash Bros combines each of the characters from their epic games in 1 mass fighting style free for all. In this game you can play as several Nintendo characters and compete to be the best fighter. You can unlock new characters and play on 8 classic stages that represent the worlds of each character's respective games.

This game guide will be unlike my others, This won't be a long guide because there isn't much to the game other than playing techniques, moves, stages and a few other key elements. To actually describe what you need to do to perform actions like completing Board the Platform and Target Test would be extremely difficult to do and would require intense detail. In this guide red represents the titles of each part. Light Blue will highlight the different weapon items. Orange will highlight the item containers. Pink will highlight health items. Green will highlight other things.

Items
Items can be found throughout the game. Some of these are weak but other items are powerful and may send your opponent flying. Learning to use your items will help increase your chances of defeating some of your enemies.

Barrel: If you pick this up you can throw it and it will roll on the ground and break open with items in it. Attacking this may lead to an explosion and cost you a life. Be careful where you aim because it may hurt when you're trying to win without dying.

Beam Sword: One of the dangerous items of the game. This is a powerful weapon that can cause a lot of damage to an enemy and stop enemy attacks. Throwing this causes a great deal of damage and repeatedly hitting your enemy when make them vulnerable to a good hit off the stage.

Bomb-omb: Arguably the most dangerous and deadly weapon of the game. This can be thrown and explodes on contact. It deals a considerable amount of damage and toss... Read the rest of this Guide
