It aint badder that all the other low-grafic rpg's, like on nes for example. But it has a few game-intern bug's i think. I moved from one screen to antother and my figure was blocked in every 4 directions!! It sure makes fun, if you don't walk in such
Bahamut Lagoon

My first impression about it is really positive. I like the FF-like battles. I never played Final Fantasy tactics but i suggest it's quite similar to this. Great to play with such big teams ...
Ultima - Quest of the Avatar
10-30-10 07:56 AM
I just startet playing. I don't know the serie's, but they say, it's the 4th Part of it. Grafic's are real detailed for a nes-rpg, but i played one's with better music so far. I'm excited, what soundtracks are up to come in this one ...
Shin Megami Tensei
10-28-10 05:27 PM
Yeah, that one's really hard ... and it's to late now to continue playing ... i'll try it again tomorrow, hehe ... But even with it's low grafics, it has a really interesting, creepy athmosphere. Good Game
Buck Rogers - Planet of Zoom

It's enormously oooold ... but i loved the Buck Rogers Titel on Sega MasterSystem, so i had to play it. For an Atari Game, i rate it 7.5 - okay
Phantasy Star II
10-22-10 08:29 PM
I bought that one along with the parts III and IV of the PS-Series with the "Sega Megadrive-Collection" (EU) for the PS 2. I played them all, but number 4 is the only, that really flashed me. I don't like the stiff battle-system in this one. They update
Phantasy Star III - Generations of Doom
10-22-10 08:25 PM
One thing, that's really anoying, is, that the player's char is moving terribly slow. I only played part IV of the Series ... but this one has really monotone grafics! I did'nt expect that ...

Lufia & The Fortress of Doom

1st part AND sequel oO?
I'm very glad and grateful, that nobody else released a review for this game yet.

As a lil' kid I played Lufia II, not knowing, that it's the sequel of this game here (Lufia was never released in Germany & the second part was released just as "Lufia"). I thought of it as one of the longest and - because of the sometimes very hard puzzles - most difficult rpg's on snes. I kind of discovered this game by searching roms for my ZSnes emulation-programme and I was overwhelmed by the fact that it deals 90-100 years AFTER the second title. So, I was actually abled to play the story in its chronologic order, hehe. I like game-series that allow you to start with any game of the series without having any problems in understanding what the story's about. You won't find much series that offer you that opportunity.

Be sure that I will write this review, well knowing that this game was released a few years before "Rise of the Sinistrals", so I wont compare those two titles with each other. That wouldn't make much sense. I'll try to rate it as fair as I can, and I hope, true fans of the Lufia-games wont be offended too much, if I make a bad rating at one point.
Non-equal to the game-reviews I wrote before, I'll start by giving some basic information about this game before rating the single points such as graphics, story etc. ...

The game starts telling the story of the four sinistrals, who attacked humanity with their flying fortress over 90 years ago, throwing the world into chaos an destruction. You see the four heroes Maxim, Selan, Artea and Guy in their final battle against the four demons, lastly defeating them. After the sinistrals are defeated, the fortress erupts, killing Maxim and Selan, who are not able to leave anymore. Guy and Artea warp back to earth, telling the people the story of Maxim's and Selan's honorful sacrifice.
Peace came back to the world, and the tale of the four heroes and their last fight against the sinistra... Read the rest of this Review

Chronicle of the Radia War - another pearl dug out
Holla everyone!

What I have to say first is, that I'm a huge fan of the older final fantasy titles and retro-rpg's in general. So I'm always looking for games with depth, a good storyline, well-composed ingame music and unique battle-systems. I can proudly tell you that I found exactly what I was looking for ... in this game.

So let me tell you some more about it:
This Review deals about the game "Chronicle of the Radia War". I discovered it by searching good nes-rpg's here on vizzed. I never owned this game as a cartridge, but I would have definitely bought this one, if it had ever been released in Europe. I'm actually not sure, if it was released in the US, but the fact is, that we can play an English translation here on vizzed! Thanks for that, by the way ...

What we have here is a TOP-role playing game developed and published by TECMO in 1991. In some ways it must have been bound breaking for this time. Those who thought, that the Final Fantasy titles on the Nintendo Entertainment System had the best written plots for rpg's on this console, is kindly invited to play this game and change his/her mind.
"Chronicle of the Radia War" offers a battle-system that even makes the battle-systems in final fantasy titles out of this period look lame and stiff. Most of the fights appear randomly, but once a battle starts, the screen stands still, letting you walk around freely and attack enemies in real time or give orders to your team mates (game pauses when you do this).
This is really something special, not only for a nes-game!

Graphics:
Graphics do look nice. I'd lie, if I'd say, that I saw no game with a better optic on this system. But it's recognizable, that there was put much effort in the graphics, especially when you take a look at the pictures used in story-sequences. That might be the right for people with an affinity for anime's ;)
The towns, dungeons and out world-maps look OK, nothing special. Anoth... Read the rest of this Review
Azure Dreams

Azure Dreams (GBC) - up to 100 hours of gameplay!
Holla everyone,

this is going to be the second review I write. Could be the last one, I don't know
"Azure Dreams" on the game boy was a game that took me months to play. I guess my brother purchased a used cartridge and played it a while before I found it. At first it looked short, but after reaching the top of the tower the first time, the game expanded in it's dimensions in a way, I didn't find again in a game boy game.

It deals about a young boy living in a desert town called Monsbaya. Monsbaya is dominated by the monster-tower. The boy (the player) is an upcoming monster-tamer, like his father, who disappeared in the floors of the tower long ago. As a fresh grownup, the boy meets a familiar. Familiars are tamed monsters. This one tells you, that he is a familiar of your father, and here to support you in your quest to reach lvl 30 of the tower. From this point on you are able to enter the tower. The floors in the tower are generated randomly, so whenever you enter it, you'll be confronted with unknown conditions. Your character itself can be equipped with weapons and stuff, and even level up. But once you leave the tower, your experience level lowers back to lvl 1.

Inside the tower you can move across the floors, encountering monsters and fighting them by yourself or with the help of your familiar(s). You'll find many types of items, which you can bring out of the tower to store or sell them. Quite similar to games like Dragon Quest Monsters, you're abled to breed monster's eggs to fill your monster stable. You can even make 2 monsters fusion to another, which brings a lot of fun. Especially when you create a freakin' strong monster, you've never seen, that smashes everything ...!

Graphics:
The graphics are great for a game boy game. Especially when you're using the game boy color
Battle-graphics (pictures) are nice works and the monsters designs are way more cooler than those in the Pokém... Read the rest of this Review
Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday
10-23-11 07:49 AM
Totally underrated - a pearl
Hello,

this is going to be my review for "Buck Rogers - Countdown to Doomsday" on the Sega mega drive.
Forgive me my writing, I'm German and not used to write in English since I left school. My grammar's bad sometimes, but I do this because this game was one of the best games I ever played on this console.

I purchased this game among with the megadrive in 2002, so it yet was a retro-game at this time. It's funny, because I first recognized it as a good one after playing it a second time (it's very hard, so I quited it one time, cause it turned me off).

It first appears as a quite usual rpg. You can make a team of different races, genders and professions. You walk through dungeon-like space-stations and forsaken spaceships and encounter enemies. But after you played a few hours, you may discover some nice features you didn't expect. For example the opportunity to travel through the orbit from planet to planet. Or the opportunity to battle against RAM-space carriers, etc. ... or even the opportunity to board those enemy ships and walk through them like through dungeons and fight enemy-groups the usual way.
You see, this game offers hours and hours of gameplay.

Graphics:
At this point, this game is not really comparable with the most other rpg-titles on this system. The areas you're walking through have low graphics. The battles also (though there's a nice feature: the battle-screen area is always a miniature of the area, where you encountered the fight). Dialogue-pictures and the spacefight-graphics are good megadrive-standard, some of them are really nice pixel-artworks :D
I give this game a 6 on this point.

Sound:
Well yeah, the music's a bit odd. I do some music myself and I find nothing special on it. Best example is the battle-theme, which seems to be build out of 2 different sounds (not even notes!). The sound-effects are pretty cool and funny. That makes me giving "Buck Rogers - C... Read the rest of this Review
