Stopped by for a moment to play a couple of games. I thought it might be fun to create a thread like old times. Come here and post a small nugget about yourself. It will probably be fun.

These days I'm sort of interested in the older Dungeons and Dragons games In the RGR. I may try some out from time to time. I've been playing a lot of Tabletop Role-Playing Games at local conventions, in the neighborhood game stores, and thanks to this pandemic - I'm also playing at www.roll20.net

What do you do for fun?

Elrinn: Game profile was like a blast from the past. I found my way to what I wanted from that clue. Thanks!

I've noticed that the entire setup of the board is all switched around. Kindly direct this old timer to the layout editor. Id like to look through ALL of my old post layouts to find a misplaced CSS code.

That's pretty impressive! What are your favorite of most memorable screenshots? Understand I wouldn't just ask this of anyone. You are the exception.

Don't know how long my phantom self can hold this Internet form!!! Seriously, I'm back for a quick minute. So, what did I miss? Did anyone die or get married? (Pretty much the same thing, jk)

Any amputations? Lost pets? Why the heck does the board look like this? It's not very easy for old people like me to accept this much change, you know? Be gentle...

Two and a half years ago, I was sobering up after being a substance abuser for the better part of 2 decades. I was prone to long periods of irrational anger and depression. I was unemployed again and separated from my wife and kids.

I found Vizzed shortly thereafter and it helped to give me something to focus on which eased the anger and depression.

Two and a half years later I'm a much changed person but I find that the personality/psychological problems I had when I was a teenager and drank the first beer that started me on my lifelong addiction struggle, are still there. They're there but with a vengeance. I continue to battle them on a daily basis but have managed to remain sober for almost 3 years.

I find it very difficult to make and maintain friendships with other people. It's painful for me. But I won't make this a pity party because it's much more complex than that.

What I will do is say that I came back today after 103 days of inactivity because I had a longing for some feeling of fun that I remember from before but... I think those days are lost now.

I'm not making a "returning member" or "I'm leaving" thread. I'm not returning to play bunches of games in the RGR or go on some posting spree that I was terrible at anyway. I came back briefly to return a handful of profile comments, say "Wow, it's been almost 2 years since I signed up!" and probably go inactive again in a few short days.

This post is a "why I do the things I do" moment for the few that I felt deserved an explanation. They know who they are and will find this thread without a summons, I'm sure of it.

zanderlex : Thanks for bringing me in on this.

I looked at the code on this page to see if it was what I wrote. dougie, the layout I created for you does have a slight error. I'll correct it and send you an updated version in just a sec. I don't think it's the problem though. My error should have nothing to do with the summons.

Honestly, there are errors all over this page. I love Vizzed but some of the coding is antiquated and has issues. When the summons failed, Vizzed made the failed summons a div instead of a hyperlink like it should have. Why it did that eludes me. Sorry.

My final advice is to ask Davideo7 in his official ask Davideo7 anything thread. Ask why some summons fail for no obvious reason and whether or not it matters if there is a space.

Sword legion : As always, thanks for summoning me to things even though I've been pretty aloof lately. Sounds like you guys had a blast and are learning strategy for next time. I know you and your brother will do well next tourney. I just know it...

bombchu link : Congrats on placing so well!

Thanks everybody for replying here.

Singelli : My eye doctor explained that algae thing to me once but I honestly can't remember why it happens. Yes, it's common for all prescription eyeglasses with nose pads and it's kind of disgusting.

That pink scarring patch might also be caused from the "temple" (part that goes behind your ear) needing to be adjusted for a more snug fit. Perhaps the nose pads are simply bearing too much of the weight of the frames. Another indicator that the temple needs to be adjusted is when the frames are constantly slipping down a persons nose or if, when they bend over, the frames try to fall of their head.

endings : I'm newly divorced so I can't help but acknowledge the part about getting dates. I suppose it indicates some sort of vanity in me but I don't care - It's just one more thing on a long list of reasons why I want to be rid of them. I do appreciate you and Singelli's reminder that stuff could go wrong though. I hadn't really given it much thought.

Brigand : If I went without glasses, I would have to live under a bridge or panhandle for money because I would be totally handicapped. I can't see anything clearly without then unless it's right in front of my face.

gamerforlifeforever2 : I agree.

I just got home with my new humidifier. My sinuses have been so unbearably dried lately that there were times I thought my face might crack open from my mouth to brow.

Later I plan on cuddling up with my new found love and whispering sweet nothings into its rotating mist vent.

Singelli : carter has some pretty solid advice that I'm struggling hard to add to.
...I know what I can add that he didn't address - nutrition. Our bodies need a lot of nutrients to endure those types of work outs. When I looked into a similar program about a year ago, I remember that it came with a menu to help plan meals. That menu wasn't just to keep calories low, it was also to provide you with the protein and carbohydrates to help you get the most from the routine and keep your energy up.

If yours didn't come with a menu or you think it may be too difficult to get ingredients or prepare for those meals, at least try eating one of those protein/workout/meal replacement bars available at your local convenience/grocery store every 2 or 3 days.

The one that I eat is the MET-RX BIG100. It has 28 grams of protein and although it's 380 calories it has almost 50% of your daily vitamins in it. Also, remember that with strength training you're converting fat to muscle... I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't be too afraid of those calories unless your simply dieting without exercise, which doesn't really work anyway.

I'm probably gonna shock some that read this but the things I'm about to mention are part of my past and I'm a different person for at least a couple of years now. However, the trend in the U.S. is to punish people for their crimes for the rest of their lives so I wouldn't be surprised if a few of my fellow countrymen have that same mindset and treat me differently. If they choose to do that, I'm fine with it because they aren't people I care to associate with anyway. People change and the self-righteous will never understand the difference between where I've been or where I'm at currently.

Worst offense(s) on my criminal record: Driving Under the Influence X 3. The second was ruled as entrapment by the judge, so only two of them actually count in the eyes of the law. That means I'm only a habitual violator in a misdemeanor sort of way. Had all three have actually stuck, I would now be a convicted felon and probably would have spent time in prison. I've never been to prison and have no plans of ever going there but I've been in county lockup close to 10 times. Having said all of that, I've had a revoked drivers license since December of 2009 and it will actually be reinstated on the 26th of this month.

Due to having my license revoked for 5 years in a city/state where having one is a necessity and for the other inevitable consequences of my former lifestyle, I believe I have now learned my lesson. I've been sober for 2 years, 4 months and 5 days as of now.

There are other more serious crimes that I wasn't caught for committing but I won't go into details because I'm ready to move on and I don't want the paranoia that comes from putting things like that into written words in a very public place. To be vague about it - numerous counts of grand theft to support my various previous addictions.

Me in my kerchief,
and I in my cap,
had just settled down,
to a long winters nap.

Yeah, that's right, I wear a cap AND a kerchief to bed. Somebody got a problem with that?

I was about to nod off and recalled that I would make a post when the orneriness died down.

12/9 I'm in love with it. My only criticism... WHERE THE HECK IS CHAPTER 2? Kelli, I'm gonna need that chapter on my desk by Saturday, January 3rd at 7:00AM.

Seriously though, I need this story to involve more food and weird animal people. Plus, I feel like the heroine(?) needs to be wearing a pink trench coat and shiny navy blue stripper boots.
AHA, there it is, more colors.

You did well.

Let's see... 12/10, 12/11 (please tell me that's not you being mad at me or something), 12/12 and 12/13 all poetry. Bleeech! Poetry is so 17th century. Dreadful times indeed. Good writing, though.

btw - I'm reading through it all as I'm writing this post.

So, this story of yours is quite the mystery and then I get to my favorite poem of yours so far - 12/22 - Is it surprising that my favorite is probably the one that makes the least sense to me?

Back to the mystery... It's good stuff and I kept reading in search of answers but all I found were more questions. I prefer reading this story in large chunks as I have tonight. Had I have read it post by post, I don't think it would have felt nearly as mysterious. I keep hoping that something Twilight Zone-ish will happen but I'm sure you have plans for where it's heading, so I won't intrude on the plot line. Good luck with this one.

I keep hoping that something Twilight Zone-ish will happen but I'm sure you have plans for where it's heading, so I won't intrude on the plot line. Good luck with this one.

Lots of games here that I've never heard of and will probably never try. I'm sure most of you can identify with this sentiment?

Imma pick one - Kageroeception II on PSX. In it you play as a sadistic human pawn of a race of blue skinned humanoid creatures in a medieval world. You build traps inside their castles to trap the unsuspecting humans that trespass. I guess I like the sadistic aspect of it.

Dolphins are very friendly and majestic creatures... you can forget that noise. This is gonna be a blood bath! Three cheers for the deadly blood-soaked Dolphins!
If you want to know if I'm competing, just check out my "title" over on the right. That should clear things up.

EideticMemory : I feel the need to reply to your quote from The Lord of The Rings with a quote from the LOTR-The Two Towers. It's From that one Orc, you know the one, I think his name was Carl.

"We ain't had nothin' but maggoty threads for three stinking days!!!"

Since I now have "Cadillac" health insurance, I'm toying with the fantasy of having LASIK corrective eye surgery.

My new health/eye insurance will pay 85% of the bill plus I get a 15% discount on the procedure. The Internet has lead me to believe that the total expense for the whole affair will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $4000.00 (pre- discount). Which would make me responsible for roughly $500 to $600. It is now an option for me because I make good money again.

Who's had it? (Any personal and/or amusing stories are a plus.) How do you like the outcome?
Is anyone out there against this sort of surgery and why?

Some reasons that I want to get it are because my eyesight has been horrible since the second grade and I've had to cultivate a love/hate relationship with corrective lenses. I'm tired of having to squint at the alarm clock at 2AM. I don't like having that to TRY and keep that green algae stuff that inevitably grows around nose pads to a bare minimum bi-monthly. Getting scratches on 1 month old lenses annoys me. When you look me squarely in the eyes, you will see a wrap-around effect of my face where my face looks skinnier through the lens. Contacts dry out my eyes and come with their own set of unique responsibilities and chores.

There are probably more annoying things about having poor eyesight that I've either forgotten over the years or slip my mind at the moment but feel free to share any of your annoyances with me as well.

Biscuits and gravy is a nice traditional breakfast and I like it but if imma go all out, it's gotta be skillet-ized.

I especially like the skillet choices at Village Inn but in mom and pop restaurants it's more commonly and tastefully referred to as "garbage". That's where all manner of breakfast foods are piled together on one plate with two over easy eggs on top so that the yokes can be broken open so as to drench the entire mess.

If I'm cooking for myself at home, it would have to be the extremely calorie laden meal of peanut butter and jelly waffles. That's a waffle with peanut butter and jelly covering the finished product and then swamped with syrup. Hello, diabetes!
