Oof... Didn't realize I'd been away from here for about a year... Guess I've been a bit busy and stuff for awhile... Recently saw news of rom sites getting hit by Nintendo and such, so I figured I'd check back and see how things were here and make sure one of my favorite retro game sites was still doing well.

Just noticed this thread, and I'd love to offer my opinion as well!

I just recently got back into playing Pokémon when I got Pokémon Moon. I'm in love with it so far, and it's easily one of my all time favorite Pokémon games already! The thing is, I love it because it feels so different from the previous games, so I don't recommend it unless you want a more current feel of Pokémon and want something to discuss with the newer kids on the block.

The Generation 1 games are available on the Nintendo eShop now, so if you want to start at the beginning, there's never been a better time. However, they do have their drawbacks from newer games, most notably, the less than stellar sprites for most of the Pokémon... I believe the Yellow version does update some of the sprites, so if you do go with a Generation 1 game, I highly recommend Yellow. It also lets you have all 3 starters as you play instead of just picking one. You just have to start with a Pikachu that follows you around everywhere (which isn't a bad thing if you're like me and love Pikachu).

But, as zandrlex said, Generation 2 (or their remakes) is probably the best place to start for you. It's where I got my start almost 20 years ago (ah, memories of being 7 and not knowing what the heck I was doing XD ). They feature the region from the first games, are better looking than the originals, and, because you're getting a second region to explore, offer much more gameplay overall. I also would recommend getting one of the remakes (Heart Gold or Soul Silver). They are very well made!

Just want to verify that the recent items that nakina has up on the market are good (at least the two games I bought).

However, I noticed something funny after buying the second game: It told me that I received the 17,000 I spent on the game, but would be getting it after a few days, or something odd like that... O_o

My biggest flaw would have to be my incredible social awkwardness...

I've lived a sheltered life you could say (I was home schooled, so I've rarely been away from my home without my family). Growing up, I had a couple of friends, but, unfortunately, I didn't do much with them since I was usually pretty shy around people, especially people my age. I never went over to anyone's house, and never invited anyone over to my house. The only time I really got to hang out with anyone was maybe to hang out with them after Church (since Church was one of the only ways I could actually meet people my age). There would be other places I'd go, like the library, but I tended to stick to myself or close to my family usually in more unfamiliar places. I just was at home, either with my family, or in my room, just doing my own thing.

Now that I'm an adult and have a job, I've gotten somewhat better, but I'm still incredibly socially awkward... I'd say I have more friends now than I did when I was a kid, but I still usually only talk to them when I'm at work (since I usually still stay at home unless I'm at work nowadays). I want to be more outgoing, but, at the same time, I usually just want to stay in my room and be by myself...

I know I'm not going to get far in life if I keep to myself like this, but...I still feel uncomfortable in social situations. Even worse, I tend to get incredibly nervous in places with a lot of people I'm unfamiliar with, so I just seem to be going nowhere fast...

Yep, definitely have done this a couple of times, and especially more recently it seems.

One girl was someone I worked with, and we'd talk occasionally when we'd be working together. Honestly, she's like the opposite of what I would want to go for (a bit wild let's just say), but something about her just really got to me, and I just couldn't help but feel something for her. It drove me nuts too until I just finally came out and told her how I felt. Unfortunately (or, I guess fortunately for me), she was already in a relationship. She's moved on to another job, but I still see her now and then when she comes in to the store I work at.

Another girl was someone I was (and still) good friends with. This was definitely one of those "I shouldn't be liking her like this" situations. Don't take that like she's a bad girl or something. In fact, she's the exact opposite of the previous girl I mentioned, just all around perfect, nice, sweet... I could go on and on about her... But the thing is, we only know each other online, and I knew she wouldn't be okay with an online relationship. I also knew I wasn't the kind of guy she would ever want to be in a relationship with. Still, I went ahead and told her how I felt, but also told her that I knew we were just friends and wanted to continue to be friends. She understood, and we're still good friends. I still like her obviously, but I just keep moving on.

There may be other situations like these, but I think those two are pretty good examples for me.

Now I gotta figure out something new to build... Doesn't help that I keep forgetting about this competition...
