Problem is, I didn't say anything contrary to this:

- "but we can't "protect" them from sex forever."

Or this:

- "The ramifications of no knowledge or street knowledge is much worse than being told the truth."

Or this:

- "I would rather teach them how to do it safely rather than not teach them anything in some attempt to shield them from it."

Or this:

- "Sex is going to happen and we can't blindly hope that hiding it from kids will make them safe."

Or this

- "once they show interest you need to give them an appropriate amount of information."

Or this

- "If you refuse to tell them what they want to know"

In fact, my post started in the first opening lines with: "Girls must be encouraged to be open about sex..."

I agree with what you're saying but I'm not sure why you're saying it to me.

I'm not replying to this thread again so if you want to continue down this path of accusations and have the last word, that's fine with me.

geeogree: "I understand where you're coming from with wanting to protect young girls.... but we can't "protect" them from sex forever. Once they become teenagers they need to know what sex is and understand it's consequences. The ramifications of no knowledge or street knowledge is much worse than being told the truth.

I have 2 daughters and as much as it would pain me to know if they were having sex as teenagers I would rather teach them how to do it safely rather than not teach them anything in some attempt to shield them from it. Sex is going to happen and we can't blindly hope that hiding it from kids will make them safe. Of course you don't expose them to it too young but once they show interest you need to give them an appropriate amount of information. If you refuse to tell them what they want to know there is more than enough information available via friends, TV or the internet that may or may not be true or what you want to teach a child."

---

Ok. I didn't say any of that, but I agree.

(Trouble getting quotes working properly.)

That's not the case. I removed my replies the way this discussing was heading was upsetting me.

I wanted to contribute something positive to this thread and it turned out horribly. I didn't mean the things you insinuated and I felt like your "challenge" was more like putting words in my mouth. Even having to explain this here feels like a flame war. I don't want to be a part of this on Vizzed. This is not why I came here.

Is it possible to remove my account/posts from the forum and still keep a log-in for the games? Thanks in advance for your replies.

This is what I posted:

* Girls must be encouraged to be open about sex, but understand that it's not something they have to do.

*People need to realize that sex isn't a game...it can have lasting consequences.

*We need to start treating our girls like children again and protect them from the bad messages out there.

The final statement, in the context of the statements around it and supported by the elaboration followed, was referring to society. It was about how wider society perceives young girls and the objectification that is occurring. It was not to be taken as a support for "keeping them in the dark"

The immune system isn't an example of evolution. The immune system was designed (by nature or God, whatever you believed) to create antibodies against certain invasive cells. That doesn't mean the entire immune system has evolved or that the immunity will be passed on to your children.

Nope, no way! Recycling (as far as I'm aware) is a good thing. We have a recycling bin provided by the council...we just throw our cans and bottles in there and they are taken away with the garbage each week. I don't see how not-recycling is a better choice, unless someone can prove that recycling is harmful to the environment.

The ONLY 100% sure-fire way to avoid ALL unwanted pregnancies WITHOUT altering your body's natural function is to avoid sex. Not advocating a certain position here, just stating a fact. Now, waiting till marriage won't completely guard you against all sexual disease (as they can be passed on from birth), but one would assume that the chances of catching a sexually transmitted disease from someone who has never had sex and who's parents were aware of the situation of their health would be almost zero.

Christians are basically the new version of Jews, who believe that Jesus fulfilled the "Messiah" and gave a New Testament of God's will for man.

ChosenDagger : "The Church as a whole has far too long been "anti" anything before they are "pro" anything else."

Although I totally agree that Christians are just as guilty as anyone of deflecting attention away from themselves onto the easily marginalized gay community, I would argue that Christ first attended to sinners. While I think Churches should put aside their self-righteous prejudices when dealing with sinners of all types, I think explaining the urgency of Salvation still needs to be a Church priority.

All the time...I often bash myself on something and then underestimate the damage I've caused or look at myself and see I'm burnt or cut in a place I wasn't aware of. I get easily distracted from my pain at work.

I guess that's up to individual opinion. I wonder what the original coiners of the term thought though? (Ie. the ancient Japanese and/or Chinese).

What's sandwich posting and when/why is it against the rules? I'm not trying to be difficult, but I thought that was a mature, miniature debate that was on-topic and in the right forum, being that this is a sub-forum of "Debate / Logic / News Discussion".

I understand what you're saying but I don't agree that short-term natural selection can be applied to explain evolution in the wider sense. It's just a difference of opinions, that's fine.

Thanks for looking into it. I don't think it's that, 'cos I tried a few different names...simple one-word ones too. I just had another similar error when I logged in just now. Not sure what the problem is but I'll report back if I can't get it to work on a different computer.
