The moment we've all been waiting for, and... ope.

Chapter 22

When will you ever show up? Blinky thought. We’ve been floating at this building entrance for like two hours. C’mon Slack-Man! You want your cherries fresh don’t ya? Get over here and knock on the door!

“I can’t wait to finally meet that yellow fellow Pac-Man…” Greeny told the others excitedly.

“Are you sure? He’s typically pretty hard to catch,” Clyde warned him.

“I hope he smells the cherries when he comes in the doorless doorway to the maze,” Violet said.
Five minutes later, the ghosts jumped. The two knocks on the door were quite loud.
Violet, figuring Pac-Man wouldn’t think girl ghosts exist, called out to him enthusiastically in her normal voice,

“This is Violet. Who’s here for the new maze?!”

“Hi Violet!” Pac-Man answered in his usual cheery, high-pitch voice. “This is Pac-Man! I’m ready to take on the CHALLENGE!”

Pac-Man wore a round, red hat with an orange stripe in the middle. He also wore red boots and orange gloves.
Well look who showed up ready to be caught, Blinky thought, grinning.

I did not expect Pac-Man to sound like that. I thought he’d sound tough like me! Greeny thought, shocked.
Violet turned around to make sure all the other ghosts rushed into the maze room, hiding themselves high above where Pac-Man would stand. They did the second she started turning around, so she replied to Pac-Man, “Alright, come on in!! We’re ready for you!!” She opened the door, hiding herself behind it.

“Wow, painted just like the maze I’m used to!” Pac-Man noticed. “I’m hungry and ready to make those ghosts work hard!” He walked straight ahead down the hallway, not noticing the other hallways because this one provided a clear path for him. He entered the pitch black room and stopped. All the ghosts (except Violet, who stayed at the door so she wouldn’t be caught) immediately saw his bright yellow color through the blackness.

Ha there he is! All that work leading up to this satisfying moment… Blinky thought.

“Wait, where’s the maze? What just happened?” Pac-Man yelled. He looked behind him and saw the hallway he just used to arrive there.
Yep, TRICKED! Pinky thought.

“Huh. Maybe I have to first find the maze! How interesting!” Pac-Man thought aloud.
Nothing to find except those cherries you surprisingly haven’t noticed yet, sitting right in the middle of the
room, Inky thought.

“I’ll start looking around. Eventually I’ll find it,” Pac-Man convinced himself.
You already did. I see everyone else creeping towards you, oh yay! Clyde thought, peeking around Blinky. He was too scared to move to a spot in the dark not near anyone else. Pac-Man began to search around the room for any hint of a maze entrance. He paused his search to chomp on the cherries he just found.

It’s go time! Blinky thought as all seven ghosts raced towards Pac-Man. They surrounded him the best they could. Pac-Man didn’t bother to look around; he darted out of the room. The ghosts chased him down the other halls that Pac-Man previously didn’t know existed.

“Surprise! You fell for it,” Blinky chuckled.

“Welcome back to the chasing game, Pac-Man!” Inky giggled.

“VIOLET!!! COME JOIN US!” Greeny screamed, far away from her. She searched for them and joined in when she saw them whipping through the hall.

“What the… who are you?” Pac-Man asked, not looking back.

“I’m Greeny, and this is my ghost team! Meet Silver, Bronze, and Violet!” Greeny shouted.

“A girl ghost?? Oh man, this is weeeeeird,” Pac-Man sighed, having looked behind him for a split second. Many sharp and abrupt turns later, the ghosts were still close to Pac-Man.

“THIS IS FOR ALL THE YEARS OF CHOMPING ON MY FRIEND BLINKY HERE AND HIS TEAM!” Greeny roared.

“Yeah. What did they do?” Violet added.

“Wasn’t the painted hallway a nice touch?” Silver asked, not expecting an answer.

“WE KEPT THOSE CHERRIES FRESH JUST FOR YOU!” Greeny screamed.

“They did taste lovely,” Pac-Man laughed.
Three minutes of chasing later, Pac-Man felt a rush of adrenaline. He powered ahead of the ghosts, confident that if he could survive this long, he’d be fine. He navigated through the pitch black hallways, attempting to find the painted one. He found it, rushed out the door, and slammed it behind him before the ghosts had a chance to catch him. Unfortunately for Pinky, he was in the middle of exiting that door.

“OWWWWW!!!!” Pinky screamed in pain.

Guess who got their Pinky stuck in a door? Pac-Man thought to himself and chuckled. He kept running.

All the ghosts gave up, staying at the doorway to comfort Pinky. Once Pinky calmed down, they all decided to lock the door. They didn’t want to process how much effort had been wasted. How much energy had been wasted. How much planning had been wasted. Clyde couldn’t help but think about that and how he felt about Greeny, so he cried. The other ghosts stayed silent. Violet felt some of his pain because she knew how much fear he endured to be a part of this mission. Clyde didn’t have any words to say. He crashed to sleep after wearing himself out too much. Everyone else stayed awake, shocked that their combined efforts still weren’t enough to catch Pac-Man.

Nice clickbait with that all caps title... just kidding.

I've almost always eaten my bananas in the "barely ripe" or "ripe" stage since I don't like my bananas to be overly squishy.

Chapter 21

“GOOOOD EVENING!” Greeny boomed, starting off their next meeting, this time during the dark night. They had an action-packed day of shopping and door removing. Refreshed from another dinner together and some free time in Greeny’s house, they felt ready to take another step forward.

“Whatcha got for us, Greeny?” Pinky asked.

“Well, I came up with a great idea!” Greeny boasted. “We will design a flier and stick it on Pac-Man’s front door tonight.”

“Cool!” Blinky approved. “I don’t see any better way we could get him over to that building.”

“Right,” Greeny grinned.
Violet rolled her eyes. Keep soaking up the attention, Greeny, because tomorrow… the attention is on Pac-Man, she thought.

“Any suggestions?” Greeny asked.

“Nope,” Blinky answered confidently.

Silver got to work designing the flier and making sure Pac-Man would take this as a challenge, not a threat. The finished result read, “WANT A CHALLENGE? BOOMING CITY HAS CONSTRUCTED A NEW MAZE! COME FOR PLENTY OF CHERRIES AND DOT-CRUNCHING, GHOST CHOMPING FUN, FREE OF CHARGE! 1762 ORIGINAL STREET!” Silver decorated the flier with cherries and a drawing of Pac-Man almost chomping Blinky.

“Nice drawing. I hope it isn’t predicting the future,” Blinky chuckled.

“No no, I hope not!” Silver replied. “We didn’t want it to look like a ghost was challenging him. For all he knows, Pac-Land construction workers could have chosen to make one in Booming City!”

“Lead us to Pac-Man’s house!” Greeny yelled to Blinky.

“What if Pac-Man sees us?” Clyde asked.

“I doubt it. He’s an early riser,” Pinky reminded him.

“I’m pretty sure he, Ms. Pac-Man, and Jr. Pac-Man are all asleep.”

All the ghosts rushed out of Greeny’s house and into the night. They traveled to and through Pac-Land in stealth mode. Pac-Land, normally a bright and colorful city with a decent amount of activity, looked entirely different. The only lighting was on each Pac-citizen’s small, gray house. All the businesses were closed. Bushes and houses were the only scenery very visible to the ghosts. They didn’t know if any other Pac-Men stayed awake at this time, so they sneaked around the bushes and houses.

“What am I seeing?” Clyde whispered. Everyone else instantly looked over to their left.

Inky squinted, trying to make it out. “Huh… I think that’s a construction site. I wonder what they could be building,” The darkness outside prevented them from seeing the huge, halfway done maze right next to them.

“Slow down guys. We’re approaching Pac-Man’s house. Silver hold up that flier,” Blinky whispered as quietly as possible. Silver held up the flier, and once they arrived at Pac-Man’s house, he smoothly and speedily slapped the sign onto Pac-Man’s front door. They paused for a second to make sure the duct tape was effective, and then they took off. They contained their excitement until they returned to Greeny’s office.

“Well done, everyone!” Violet smiled. “We managed not to get caught, which was the most important part of that trip. Not only that; no one even came out of their house! I guess everybody was asleep. Speaking of sleep, I’m really tired. I’m gonna go back home now before all this traveling really gets to me.”

“Alright, goodnight!” Greeny shouted.

“See ya,” Clyde replied.

Violet closed the office door behind her. As she began her travels home, she thought about what she could do to teach Greeny a lesson. She had tested him enough, so now she needed to step it up. Would anything I do get Greeny extremely mad at me again? she wanted to know. Two minutes later, she decided she should call it a night when she arrived at home. Her and Greeny’s team was only one step away from completing their mission. She found comfort in thinking about waiting to act until their teams were once again separate.

Don't ask me what accent these Pac-Men have because I have no idea. Also, this is an important plot point actually, wink wink!

“This is comin’ along great, ‘arry!” Bill exclaimed.

“Oh ‘eck yeah!” Harry replied.

The Pac-Land construction workers were already halfway done building their massive maze for Pac-Man. So far, the maze didn’t have any color to it, but they were set on painting it black with red borders once they built it. They also needed to focus on going off their blueprint for the design.

“Pac-Man will ‘ave quite the fun time navigating this maze!” Harry laughed.

“Seriously, I think ‘e will too!” Bill replied. “I think ‘e always likes a good challenge. And ‘e ‘as plenty of experience.”

“I can buy all the pellets for ‘im to eat,” Harry offered.

“OK,” Bill responded. “Another thing… ‘ow are we gonna get the word out about this maze once it’s done?”
Harry thought hard while laying down another piece of the maze walls. “I think we should make fliers to put on everyone’s door.”

“Ooh, yes!” Bill yelled. “That way they ‘AVE to look at it!”

“I’m so excited! Remember that ‘uge surprised smile our boss
gave us?” Harry shouted.

“That was one of the best moments of my life,” Bill told him.

Oh, okay. Yeah, sometimes rough drafts can even make you think about 2 different projects you could make out of the many ideas that you brainstorm. That occasionally happens to me.

And yeah, I've written so much in college. I'm surprised I didn't get burned out more often XD

cafeman55 : I just checked it out! What a nice song! I've seen a lot of classic Disney movies, but I didn't realize they had lots of classic shows like that one. I wanna see that show now LOL.

SonicOlmstead : Sounds pretty boring. Who has the right of way? What do these 500 signs mean? What do you do at a red light? A lot of driving is really common sense, but yeah, there are so many laws to get used to. In my experience, it took me a few weeks to get used to driving to the point where it felt a little more natural.

The last book I really read through without skimming much was "The Gerbil Ate My Homework", which is a Big Nate comic collection. My attention span for reading isn't always the greatest, so it was great to read a comic book. I enjoyed it! Lots of good funny jokes, some of which I had to think about to get.

Chapter 19

At the DIY store, Pinky marveled at how amazing the building looked. It was very expansive in both height and width. It contained thirteen long aisles, wood floors, and apricot walls. Pinky and his team were excited to travel to more places than they normally did while working on something. They traveled a good amount when they were on breaks but mostly traveled to their parents’ houses and Pac-Land when they weren’t on break.

“As we discussed on the way here we should split up once we know where everything is,” Blinky reminded them. He asked one of the employees about the supplies they needed, such as a cordless drill. Clyde asked about the bathroom. Violet and Silver paired up, Pinky and Bronze paired up, and Inky and Blinky paired up. Greeny was by himself for now, but Clyde would be stuck with him because everyone picked their partners so quickly. He faked a smile because he still wanted to treat Greeny well to do Blinky a favor. While Clyde rushed to the bathroom, all the others took their time scanning the aisles for their supplies.

“I just thought about something else we didn’t talk about,” Inky told Blinky.

“What is it?” Blinky turned around and asked.

“Where are we gonna put that door?” Inky asked.

“Oh wow uh we should just chuck it into another room,” Blinky thought aloud, hoping that would be good enough.

“Sounds great!” Inky responded.
A few aisles to the left, Pinky asked Bronze, “How did you become so resourceful?”

“I love technology, and technology makes it easier to solve any problems or answer any questions we’re having!” Bronze answered. “We looked up information on Pac-Man.”

“That’s great!” Pinky replied.

“He’s quite the interesting guy,” Bronze laughed.

“Believe me, we know all about it,” Pinky sighed. “I can’t
believe it has taken this long to catch him.”

“Right! And I can’t believe he hasn’t seemed to get tired of running away from you!” Bronze added.
Two aisles to the right, Violet whispered to Silver,

“Aren’t you getting tired of Greeny’s narcissism? Or have you at least noticed it?”

“Somewhat,” Silver whispered back. “I have noticed he’s pretty different around Blinky’s team. Which is a good thing.”

“Definitely,” Violet agreed. “Clyde has noticed it a lot. I talked to him when we were at our maze building yesterday. That’s why I was gone.”

“Oh OK. Have you tried talking to Greeny?” Silver asked.

“Not yet. I’ve just been testing him, like when I offered to carry the paint supplies bucket for him,” Violet answered.

“Hey guys, where’s Greeny at?” Clyde asked.
Violet turned around and told him, “He’s all the way down at the last aisle to your right.”

“Alright, thanks!” Clyde smiled. He turned to the right and started to head over there, but Violet stopped him.

“I’m so sorry you got stuck with him. I didn’t think about that,” Violet frowned.

“It’s OK. At least we’re just teaming up to look for supplies,” Clyde chuckled.

“Right, but Violet was telling me you’ve noticed how self-absorbed he is and it has made you upset. She told Bronze as well,” Silver replied.

“Yeah. I noticed that a while ago,” Clyde told him.

“I hope you know the rest of our team isn’t like that,” Silver pointed out. “We are a prank team, but we still care about each other. Our pranks give other ghosts a good laugh, and us too of course. We’re here for ya, man.”

“I know. The rest of you are cool,” Clyde assured them.

“Well I should get over there.” He rushed over to the last
aisle on the right, but Greeny wasn’t there. He hoped that Greeny didn’t overhear any of their conversation, even though they whispered everything.

“Greeny, I’m back. Where’d ya go?” Clyde shouted.

“Over here. I’m comin’,” Greeny replied. He came to Clyde
from one aisle to the left.

“Sorry about that,” Clyde said when he saw him.

“It’s OK,” Greeny smiled. He gave Clyde that same smile
that had been bothering him for a while.

“You didn’t find anything yet?” Clyde wondered.

“Nope. I already moved on to the next aisle. Let’s keep searching,” Greeny responded.

That's cool! Yeah, unfortunately a lot of fan-made stuff is gonna be subject to copyright. I've seen some awesome Mario fan-games be taken down due to copyright issues.

Your English teacher was right that it's good to just make a rough draft and then smooth it out later. I tend to overthink things when I start writing, but then as I go it gets easier. And I find it fun to edit my rough drafts and improve them

I'm happy to have gotten top 5 in yellow and blue jersey! And overall users! And veteran users! Also, I broke 100 points after only competing for less than a week out of the whole month

SonicOlmstead : Congrats on another TdV win! Wow, yellow jersey really did stay that close. That's quite a collection there... all 4 jerseys, rainbow, and the gray banner. :O

I am at 9,300 posts with this one. I just looked back at my last post in this thread, and I think it's pretty good that I have managed to make 100 posts in 2 months. My activity used to be way crazier, but now life is the thing that's crazier, so I'll take it! At this point, I don't expect to hit 10K posts for another year at least. But I'm still determined to finally do it.

SonicOlmstead :
AweshumeT : Yeah, I was around when the site layout started changing, and it wasn't that major of a change at first. From what I remember, it was mostly just a lot of the page links changing places to be easier for people to navigate the site. It took some getting used to, but I think it is easier than it used to be.
