And that's the thing, the PS3 is more of a nerd system for those who are mostly into RPG's. Xbox 360 does have a lot of exlusives though and the Xbox 360 has more games rated 9 and above than the Playstation 3.

I've never had the chance to play any XBOX game so I can't say too much about it. Other than that, I can be a fan of anything that has a game I like. Nintendo has the Zelda series & Sony has the MGS series. It also has some good RPGs but Nintendo, in my opinion, has almost always been geared more toward a casual gamer. They're trying to get as many customers as possible. Sony is trying to keep the customers they have by making more hardcore games. Each system is doing a decent job of what it was designed to do yet people complain because systems other than their favorite don't do what their favorite does.

Who cares about under and overrated. The wii and Xbox are the same it dosent matter.

okay so if you like one thats fine but i dont think that either gets to much hype. people who have them reaaly enjoy them so i dont see what the fuss is. its just people wanting to put down other people for having something they dont have/ dont want/ cant afford

I've played games on both the Xbox and Wii and I have to say they bored me after I had finished a couple of games.
On xbox I've played: all the halo games, gears 1&2, fable 2
Wii: SSB brawl, zelda, metroid prime 3.

So I say the xbox is overrated, and the wii deserves to be underrated.
I'd rather continue dishing out cash to upgrade my pc or replay some of my PS2 games (mind you I haven't tried the PS3 yet).

Most of those NERDS are in Japan, so of couse American companies don't include their opinon when it comes to rating games. OR they are proper gamers and know not to rely on what the mass casual gamer majority thinks is a good game as a GOOD GAME.

Thus only games that jocks, 12 y/o and casuals like are rated 9. Those games I've played and found crappy and made for people with short attention spans or bullies who have a hissy fits when someone who's actually good at games kicks their ass online (so then they get all their buddies to mass spam microsoft to get the person's online account banned, with no way to argue that they didn't do anything wrong).

DH: The 360 itself may not have many exclusives, but it has PLENTY of console exclusives, which is why many gamers prefer 360, console-wise at least. The PS3 is awesome when it gets a game that utilizes the hardware. Most developers find it difficult to develop on the PS3, making games generally look worse. However, some games (Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII) use the hardware greatly, and makes teh games look amazing, and those games ARE amazing.

Hmm, well about the PC thing with the XBOX 360 - the PC version being better, a lot of people won't use PC for gaming. I rarely buy PC games, except for Sims which I haven't in a few years, and Fish Tycoon.

I know I would much rather have a watered-down version of a game then having to play on the PC, idk why but yeah. Like, with the Sims, I never really compared the PC to the console versions, even though I usually liked the console versions better for some reason.

I'm not trying to defend the XBOX 360; I do think it's overrated a bit, and loads of crashes.

But, the WII UNDERRATED? Nah, it's graphics aren't very good compared to others out there, and I find most of the games on it boring, unless it's a online game as well. My Wii is somewhat of a dust collector, to be honest.

ok i ghave and original xbox and it had the most amazing games fable halo morrowind it blew ps2 and gamecube out of the water then the next gen came out and i played the new games and they sucked every one oblivion blew halo 3 sucked ass and fable 2 was a joke i still dont get the big draw is they even charge for thee internet to play games online

the wii on the other hand is amazing sure you lack the high quality graphics but the games are so much more fun and original and addictive

X-box is highly over rated. The Wii is more or less understood. Nintendo released the Wii as a family friendly system not only to boost sales but also as to be a testing ground for a whole new design for the controls.

I think the Xbox 360 is overrated, but the Wii isn't underrated. The Wii is universally accepted by the casual gamers and old school nintendo fans, so i think that it's definitely got enough attention, if not overrated. The Xbox 360 however, is overrated too, and it doesn't have much variety on there either... at least in my opinion. Sure, you've got console exclusives, but how many of those are made by Microsoft Studios? barely any. The third party games are their best and popular games, and most of them are on PS3 too, except for games like Halo and others.
I'd actually say that the PS3 is extremely underrated if you would compare it to the others. It's got great games, great hardware, and free online(not as good at XBL, but still... free online that works well, unlike the Wii, which still needs a lot of work lol).
I'm not a Sony fanboy, in fact, I'm more of a Nintendo fanboy lol. Though I'd think that the Wii doesn't get enough respect from the hardcore gamers who basically live off of the 360 and those annoying little kids that think they're cool playing MW2 or Halo, it's not underrated. I love the games that Nintendo makes for the Wii, and their trusted third party developers, I despise their mindset of making the game seem more like a casual gaming system however. I believe that Nintendo has always been true to family values, but that doesn't mean that the Wii should be more casual or easier to attract the "next generation of gamers".

I fully agree with you that the wii is under rated. Sadly, in my expeirences in life, i have seen that oftentimes nintendo games are stereotyped as being "kiddy". Just like rpg games are oftentimes associated with utter nerdiness, mario and the gang, along with pokemon and many others are thought of as kiddy. I have no idea where this idea came along, but it is completely false, there are plenty of adults who play and enjoy mario games. The people (adults or kids, doesn't matter) who consider themselves gamers, but refuse to pick up a mario game, or even a final fantasy game make me angry. To me, a gamer is a person who loves to play a wide variety of games. NOT JUST FPS. Am i right?

I've owned all three current generation consoles - hell, I'll take it one step further. I've owned every Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft console and handheld... sometimes more than once. Right now sitting on my entertainment center are my PS3 and 360 - the perfect gaming compliments. I've owned a Wii once before - and I have to say never again when it comes down to it.

Everyone that I've talked to who has owned one has the same story as me. Yeah, there's some great exclusive content - there's stuff that you will never see going cross platform and I am sure that the Wii would be great if that's all that you had. But I've always had my 360, and there was just no reason to buy a multi-platform game on the Wii. Ever. And there just aren't enough exclusive to keep me going. The Wii cannot do DLC and it just isn't as entertaining to browse around as the 360 is - hell even the Avatar's that borrowed from the Mii idea has taken off and done far better than its inspiration. All of these fun little aspects coupled with a great game library that is more stable than PS3 and Wii equivalents makes the 360 entirely worth its praise for me. I've never had a problem with mine - since launch, it's still in use albeit a little bit less since I picked up an Elite (simply for space concerns).

The Wii lasted a single summer and after I played everything exclusive on it - there was just no reason to hold on. Something might catch my eye every once in a while, but Nintendo has flat out stated it is quite happy with the casual gaming audience that it has drawn, and intends to keep it stuck around. Which is good because I think you need that aspect when it comes to video games in the mdia and what not, but it's never going to be for me - looking back at the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube it's just been the same thing, since the days of the SNES ended.. the ol'tendo has been just one step behind the current trend in the gaming industry when it comes to the people who play video games every day, follow the stuff, etc.. weak game libraries have been their downfall for a while now - hardware and what it can or can't do doesn't matter when this is your issue.

I would just like to make a quick point, and that is the reason many people might prefer a 360 over a PS3, which is, quite simply, affordability! The 360 may not have many exclusive franchises, but as you all have stated it has most games that the PS3 has, yet the system cost a great deal less! Why pay so much more for so little in return? sure it has great hardware (why else would they charge so much) and a few great exclusives, but the 360 achieves almost as much for quite a lot less, back when i was deciding which to buy it was either, 360 all of its accessaries and a couple games or the ps3 and one game. Because of it's low cost it quickly dominated the market and has created a huge fanbase, people who look over at the ps3 owners and think "what snobs! they just HAD to go with the most expensive console they could find!" this mindset makes them quickly lash out against anyone who so much as sneezes in their direction and hype their system beyond its actual capabilities. when in actuality, it simply does a little less for A LOT LESS. this unfortunately has led to the 360 being very overrated, and its fans being quickly labeled as "jocks/12 yr olds" it is really just a vicious cycle when you think about it.

btw my 360 has been working smoothly for over a year and a half of constant (and somewhat abusive) usage, yet still no RROD... quite frankly the RROD is not a big problem, its just caused by dumb people who don't know how to maintain their system, (see price discussion above) and has also been hyped into this almost mass hysteria of "oh god! when will my 360 finally give out?" "i don't know, i was too scared to even buy one!!"

oh and i got a wii about 2 months after lauch and loved most of nintendo's games to death (any mario, zelda, and the like) but i have to say, most developers (outside of a select few at the top, who can actually afford to devote whole teams to making games compatible for the system) can't make wii games that are any good at all(at least back then)! controls, terrible; graphics, awful.... and for a good year and a half or so, there were no good hardcore games to speak of, it disappointed me so much, i pretty much trashed the whole console.... underrated? no! an unfortunate mis-use of great technology that could easily advance the hardcore gaming world? absolutely

Overkilll : People keep forgetting that the PS3 received a price drop. And it wasn't even that recently. Now, I believe it costs the same as a 360... I think. Not like I'm tracking prices on those systems .

I should have clarified that i meant the prices at launch, i realize that all 3 systems have recieved price drops since then. and not many people would be willing to wait almost a year or so just for the price drop, which was matched by xbox(at least i believe it is still cheaper), but i am getting a tad bit off subject now!

I don't know if the xbox is overrated cause I've never had one but I think the wii is ok. It's not as good as the ps3 cause the ps3 and xbox both have game demos but the only demo I've seen for the wii is pokemon rumble.

apsham : Actually, the Wii can do DLC, look at Mega Man 9/10, they just prefer not to, for who knows what reason. I'd really love DLC for SSBB.

mrfatcat : you got the two consoles mixed up. 90% of PS3 games can be played on the 360. There are more games the 360 has that the PS3 doesnt, then the PS3 has that the 360 doesnt.

And the Wii is way OVER rated. How many people do you know who played their Wii about 15 times a day the first month they had it, and no no longer touch it? EVERYONE. just my input on it. i think the wii would be better if more people used multiplayer on games such as COD, etc.

I love my Wii, and even with this computer, this website, my PSx, and my DSi, I still find time to play our Wii often, and I know LK likes the Wii too. And I think that Nintendo should have never used Friend Codes, it makes it such a hassle to play Wi-Fi games together .

wowtylerspl0xin : This makes me one too, like bignatealpha. You can't just say that just because you probably haven't played your Wii after a month, that means everyone does . That's ridiculous, just tell that to all the casual gamers out there. I find it sad that Nintendo decided to take this route into a more casual gaming focus, but I still trust that they dish out some great games. Let me ask you, have you seen a single bad review about a Metroid, Zelda, Mario, or SSB game that Nintendo has released on the Wii or the consoles before them? And I mean the mainseries games, not the spinoffs, but usually those are alright too. Nintendo is one of the only companies, if not the only company that still has more than 5 absolutely successful franchises running for more than 10 years. No one can diss their hardcore exclusive first party developed games. If you do, then you must be one of those dudes who just like games for the graphics or shooters.
And the PS3 has its own exclusives too, I don't see why you'd think that Xbox 360 has more exclusives than PS3. Can you say, Final Fantasy, God of War, Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, among many others? I think you should get your facts straight before totally dissing something
