MAFIA 20 - Mafia Legacy

Mission Statement/Goal (wrote before the game) - This is going to possibly be the last Mafia game I hold for a while, as two things have happened recently that make me want to stop hosting the game. The first of which, is a lack of interest in continuing the game at the time being. This will be the first game in about a year, and that's not a mistake. I still intend to host other games, at some point or other, but I feel like 20 is as far as Mafia needs to go on Vizzed. It's possible the game (this one, not the "other" Mafia) will continue with a different host, but it's possible this is the last game played.

In that vein, supernerd117 opened a Mafia forum, which I think is annoying. So that's the second reason. Yep, a more selfish reason, but I personally don't want to host games while that is going on. I think it will only lead to confusion in my games, which will bring the quality way way down. This is also why I am only allowing veterans (and Furret) to play this game. Veterans can be counted on to understand the game.

Ultimately, this is the ending of an era. We, in Innocent Town, aim to end it with a bang, and we hope the story we came up with brings a sense of closure to the series. It's possible a new series will begin, but not guaranteed, what with the lack of a good host.

Potato Rule - Two Mafias. Working together. Can only win if the assassin is dead.

Hidden Potato Rule - Any Bystanders alive with under 10 Town become either a Governor or an Insomniac

Hidden Potato Rule 2 - First day round is a double killing. Any night hereafter with three deaths results in a double kill day round (Leggy gets bloodthirsty with many deaths)

Final Post - Awards/Fallout/Etc

Alright, so this game is over.

First things first, I'm not giving out any awards for this game. In my opinion, it was a sloppily played game by everyone outside of the Mafia, and I'm not going to give them credit for playing well, considering all they did was be active. It makes me happy someone cared, of course, but to be an MVP, you have to play the game in a way that actually made it felt like the game was being played.

There are plenty of LVPs, namely inactive players, and one specific player who will remain nameless, but I don't want to honor or dishonor a specific user.

With that all said, on to the one thing that needs to be said, this is definitely the last Mafia game held in this forum, by me, for at least a year, and possibly ever. Mafia is a beautiful game, and this entire round has made me very sad. No one seemed to care, people dropped out left and right, and I don't know whether it was something I did, something I said, or something that should have been done differently or by a different person. With so little engagement, I can't even tell what the problem is. Is it that people don't like Mafia anymore? Is it that the ones who did were killed off early? Was it because I limited the game to only veteran players? Speak to me here. No one did before, or during the game, only telling me it has been boring.

What more can be done to enhance your experience in a way that I clearly have overlooked?

I am incredibly disappointed. I had a story written out. One that I had planned greatly for. Had the town taken the lead, I could have worked with it and it would have made sense. Had the Assassin been sneaky, I could have made the story work. The only way I couldn't make a story or progress it in reasonable fashion was through outright stagnation.

I didn't keep track, but this has been a record for no-kills in one game, a record for power roles not sending in PMs, a record for no votes and inactive players.

It set just about every bad record in one single game, and this easily combines into the single worst experience that I have ever been apart of. If I sound like a baby here, it's because I've afforded myself this moment to vent my frustrations out on you. I take time out of my busy schedule to try and make something for people to enjoy, something people have literally begged me to return to, since there hadn't been a game in about a year. I sacrifice the little free time I have, to bring joy to a small segment of people I consider internet friends, and I get complete inaction in return.

I wanted this game to be one that I could be proud of. One that when I left it behind, there would be no regrets about how Mafia was handled in its time on Vizzed.

Instead, I leave this game with ONLY regrets, and nothing positive to show for it.

That is pretty much it for now. My closest friends know exactly how much this hurts me, personally, and that's enough.

I've been following this entire game while being dead and I must say that aside from a few day rounds this whole thing was pretty disappointing. Quite a few users were inactive or just didn't say anything at all. A lot of users who actually wanted to play died early.

It baffles me since this game was so hyped up, and people just didn't seem to care near the end. 

Still, it was an honor to be here
I hope Mafia will return one day but a long break is definitely necessary.

Also thanks for putting so much of your time into this whole thing despite how the game turned out. Always fun to read the narratives you come up with.

You guys really suck at this game.

I'm really sorry about my inactivity, I really am. I have been insanely busy. And with a lot of refused, then killed alliances, there wasn't all that much I could have done. I really am sorry this Mafia ended this way. I hope eventually you host another one that goes a lot better. .-.

I've somewhat expressed my frustration in an earlier post, but I'll say it again: This was just sad to watch, the way things played out left me with the feeling that people treated this game as a shore rather than a way to have fun, which is the opposite from the outcome desired.

I'm probably one of the least active people on this site myself and trust me when I say I have a ton of good reasons for that. Still, even though I was dead since Day 1 and could just not bother with the game whatsoever from that point onwards, I could still make some time to check the status of the game every now and again, after all it is nothing more than a couple of minutes of my time and attention. Sadly, a lot of people who were alive couldn't bother doing that themselves.

We all have our lives and priorities, some of us have more than others, but as the saying goes. where there is a will, there is a way. Sadly, that was not the case here, otherwise this game would've played out very differently. Anyways, it's been (mostly) fun while it lasted but it's time to say goodbye. Thank you everyone who have played, for even if yours was a s***ty participation, playing Mafia wouldn't be fun (or possible) without players. Also, thank you for all your efforts leggy, we never really talked much to each other but you have my appreciation nonetheless. 

I won't deny that it's hard to be optimistic with all that has happened, but hopefully IT's future isn't death by innactivity, it'd be sad to see that happen.

Sadly I have to mention my disappointment too.

I do have to admit sometimes I get into certain events on Vizzed (such as tournaments) and I simply completely forget about it and end up getting banned from joining, but this was pretty much the first time I EVER completely remembered to check the game frequently, I was interested in at least trying to play.

Seeing the game head this way, made me feel completely sad, I can only imagine how Leggy would feel seeing so much hard work go to waste like this, he probably won't really care about how I feel, but there you have it.

What makes me feel worse is that so many vital people DID visit Vizzed but simply did not care to participate, I'm pretty sure reserving a few minutes wouldn't hurt anyone.

I did terrible? Yes I did, but if it wasn't for me I would be willing to bet the game would only lead to "No kills" and the game would have actually been WORSE, completely lifeless, sadly there was not much I could do.

I'm sorry.

Though I still would like to see Leggy host a new mafia game, hopefully with people who actually tries to cooperate.

I do want to say, now that my anger has subsided a bit, thanks to finally being able to truly vent my frustrations, that I do appreciate all of you, and that I've hosted 15 of the 20 Mafia games, NDND, and all my other games entirely because of you guys.

You guys are all some of my favorite people to be around, as infinitely frustrating as it is to have this game end the way it did.

I don't know if more Mafia lies ahead. If anyone is interested in hosting, I'll take applications, and consider signing over Mafia for a game or two down the line.

I took a break after Mafia X, and passed it on to silverthundr and the_casualty. I would be willing to let someone host 21 if I make a 21.

What's next for Innocent Town, some may ask. The answer is, it is games hosted by Zlinqx, Galacta, et all. I need a break from hosting, and I want you all to enjoy what they have to offer without my shadow looming. The next game I host will either be a return to NDND (another thing people have begged for) or Murder Mystery (since I have some ideas about how to change things).

I think I did good considering what I was going up against. It was disappointing that the town power roles didn't even bother trying to out and lead the rest of us onto a lynch. Maybe its because they didn't really understand the game. If there were more town members with power roles I think that would've helped with activity.
I think maybe if the inactives were killed off and replaced with players who died early would've helped with activity. Or maybe some people were afraid to post because they were afraid of dying and never being able to play again.
I was really hoping this game would turn out well. I tried to post and make something happen, but I didn't get many responses. It was disappointing for me because I knew all I had to do was not post and just send leggy pm's on who I want to kill and I would've won anyway. I guess I'll have to stick with Epic Mafia or hope supernerd's game works out if I want to play mafia again.

It's not that people didn't understand the game.

Everyone here is a veteran. Everyone. The only exception was Furret, but I made sure he had a solid knowledge of the game BEFORE I let him in.

This game had the highest amount of players who knew how to play, which should have been enough to make it a great round.

Instead, it was just people not caring about the end result.

Things went well for the Mafia, but it could have gone even better. Gamin'Gal, the other Godfather, did nothing.

Two active power roles were lynched without even trying to defend themselves so I assumed they didn't know what they were doing. For example deggle could've simply voted for a "no kill" to save himself, but didn't. 
I also think whoever made "alliances" could've worked together better to find out who was mafia. And it should've been obvious that on D9 one of us were mafia.
We knew Gamin'Gal was mafia or an assassin most of the game and it was a disappointing that we weren't even able to work with or against her. I think that would've made the game more interesting.

Its kind of funny that this has more activity now that the game's over than it did on some of the day rounds.

Town was embarrassingly shortsighted and passive. That's all I have to say on this matter.

We tried to make an alliance with Gamin'Gal but we didn't even get so much as a response and she didn't seem to do anything.

All we had to do was send our votes at night and win which was disappointing. Eventually we were able to lynch whoever we wanted because no one would even defend themselves. There were many times in our posts where it should have been obvious we were mafia.

We could've just confesses and no one would have responded at that point...

I'll say this much. As an observer, it was not obvious you two were Mafia until around D7/8 for me. Even then, there was doubt. I usually keep an outside look at things, and try to remove what I know from the equation, and it works out pretty well.

Once D7/8 rolled around, I got all the information I really could have until the final day round or two. Once it became clear you were lynching without regard, doubt was eliminated.

It took so long for it to become obvious who Mafia was because everyone else refused to communicate. The Mafia's biggest weakness is discussion, and this game had none of it.

We love you, Leggy.

Well, I mean, not love love, more like a deep platonic respect. We respect you as a person and as an IT monarch.

I also have a question. If there were two mafias, which mafias were mlb & I a part of since I don't see a 1 or 2 by either of our names.

Technically, you were in neither Mafia. Since you could both help whichever Mafia you chose to, you were basically Mafia Free Agents.

So that's it, huh...? Let's just hope that things go a little better in whatever Mafia game we go on to play. I was inactive most of the time, and the few times I did attempt to act ended in complete disaster...I can only hope that I'll be more active and more useful in the next game. I'm sure that Leggy can figure out something to do with the next Mafia game that'll be better than the premise for this one.

Hmph, this was a disappointing end for all of us I guess. Fun fact, I actually found Blubcreator suspicious (but not earthwarrior and starwars293) and was actually thinking about changing my vote to get him lynched the day before I died, but then Seishiro was acting faster than me, but even if I had changed my vote I think mafia would have won as they were forming alliances and had more active people on their side. Anyways, good job mafia.

Leggy, you pretty much did what you always did, so you can't be blamed for inactivity, it's just that some players have gone inactive or didn't care much for posting and discussing. Even though I lost I enjoyed a part of it, and I would like to participate once more. I understand that this has killed your motivation though, so I hope that if you don't want to host the games any more you can pass the role on to other guys. Thanks for everything you did!
