That is true, Pokemon is more targeted at kids. But then why bring gender into it in the first place? If they didn't want kids asking there parents questions about where eggs come from, then why didn't they keep a gender neutral thing. Why not make all the Pokemon genderless so as to more easily explain away "they are pokemon, they're magical," or something of the sort?

Actually in Japan it's not just aimed at kids but also adults. Hence the swimsuit episode that never aired in America or the episode where ash got a gun pointed in his face.

the Machop family can be female, and if you have a female Machoke (for some odd reason) this would look very wrong.

Don't be hatin'. Remember, a lot of these gender failures happened back in RBY (which feel more like a beta then a game) and GSC (The most overated generation, IMO), Nintendo has gotten a LOT better since Gen3.

I mean sereously, they recently made Probopass. PROBOPASS! How can you deny the awesome looks that make up Probopass? It has a cool hat, an awesome moustache... why, stick a monocle on Probopass and it will be the best thing you ever saw!

To be completely honest, I think Nintendo was being just plain lazy when they made a lot of the new evolutions. Magmotar, Electivire, Probobass, Togekiss, pretty much all of them suck horribly. Gallade might be able to slide if it weren't for the Gardevoir thing. Weavile and Yanmega are acceptable. But a lot of them look like they were drawn by first graders.

Probopass with a monocle. I win.

I LIKE a lot of the new evolutions. I mean, you SAY it's bad, but look at Geodude and Gastly. REAL CREATIVE DESIGNS, right? I mean, a ball of gas named Gastly and a rock with arms are great, but a giant imp with cannons (Magmortar) for hands are dumb.

By the way, Honchcrow. Mafia pimp crow ftw!

But look at the cracks, and different bumps on the Geodude. It looks, like a rock, which is the point! Gastly is not just a ball of gas. His name derives from Gas = Gas and the word ghastly, meaning scary. And besides, at least he is original. Magmar and Magby are ducks. Magmotar looks like a fat guy with his stomach painted and a cannon on his arms. LAME. Electibuzz is covered in zig zag stripes, and has crazy lightning bulb shaped hair. Electivire has boring black stripes, and looks like he is on steroids. Magnezone... you gotta be kidding me. Magnemite and Magneton are magnet Pokemon, and then Magnezone is just randomly a spaceship Pokemon? WTF

Probobass looks like what a fifth grader was doodling on the side of his paper during his math class. Togepie and Togetic were cute, but Togekiss is fat and has very poor anatomy as aposed to its previous forms, no arms is kind of a step down and what good are the legs if your upper body is too large and extended away from them for you to be able to use them?

Honchcrow, Yanmega, Gallade, Froslass, and Weavile are acceptable, minus the Gender Failure on Gallade and Froslass. But the others I find simply lacking. Just my opinon, but that's what I think.

Magnamite had a horrid design. A metal ball with magnets? Yay. I can't see where the creativity is. So you'd expect an evolution that DOESN'T fall into the generation one pattern of Snakelike (Ekens, Dragonair... a lot of stuff) or Ballish (Magnamite, Gastly, Koffing... a lot more stuff), but instead, the creative process comes up with... THREE MAGNAMITES STUCK TOGETHER THIS IS AWESOME ZOMGWTFBBQ! Yeah, really? Magnazone takes away from that, makes them different, and turns it into... sort of a magnetic flying saucer.

Oh wow, geodude has BUMPS. You know, Spinda's sprite actually changes into one of (I think it was around over 1000) patterns? Or the fact that, say, bumps don't make a pokemon creative?

Gastly? Origanal? Where do these words fit together? Now, maybe GENGAR and origanal, but Gastly? Nope. It's a ball of gas. Yeah, the name is kinda cool, but sereously: IT'S A BALL OF GAS. Nothing more, nothing less. Nosepass is an Easter Island statue, which is much more complex and hard to make into a decent pokemon, yet people don't like it because it is uncreative.

1) It is a variation of an Easter Island statue.

2) It has a giant nose.

3) It has a complementory giant moustache.

4) It has a hat much like Honchcrow's.

5) It's colors are more faded, and considering it's Rock/Steel (which is a bad type, but that doesn't do anything to the design), that works.

6) It has 3 mini noses. But unlike Magnaton or Dugtrio, it spaces them out a little bit more, making it not look to... clustery.

7) Ever imagined it with a monocle? Sereously, someone needs to draw a monocle on the sprite, it would change many views.

And besides, I'd like to see YOUR ideas for a Togetic/Magmar/Electabuzz/Magnaton evolution. No doubt they suck worse than the stuff Nintendo has cooked up throughout the years.

Now, am I saying that old gens were always bad and new is always good? No. There are a couple of old ones that are good (Gengar is completely random after gastly and Haunter, Mewtwo is pretty cool looking, and Mew get's points for creativity), and some new ones with flaws (Luvdisk, the pokemon of LOVE, is not a fire type, but a WATER TYPE. How could they mess that up? I mean, yeah it was suppost to be a joke pokemon, but sereously!), but as a whole, newer is better than older.

Matt! Calm down! I'm not trying to pick a fight! Not everyone has the same opinion as you. And since it came up, I simply stated mine. I am not saying you aren't entitled to your opinion.

And to be completely honest, I probably could make up better evolutions and names. But like I said, that is just in my opinion.

One more thing, I did not complain at all about the Hoenn generation Pokemon, or even the Sinnoh region, and if you misunderstood what I said, I'm sorry. I am merely saying that "evolution" is supposed to be related to its previous form. And I don't think Electivire and Magmotar look enough like Electabuzz and Magmar. I haven't got a problem with Nosepass, he's cool. I just would have preferred they kept him a no evolution Pokemon, because Pokemon aren't exactly attractive with mustaches in my opinon (i don't like Kadabra and Alakazam much either)

Gastly is not just a ball of gas. He is a spirit. A ghost. And I love him, Haunter, and Gengar. They are my favorites. And honestly a ghost surrounded by toxic gas is a little more intimidating than a rock with a mustache.

Perhaps I like Pokemon like Electabuzz, Magmar, Gastly, and Geodude because I grew up playing and watching the original Pokemon. In my opinion I just don't feel that a lot of the Season 4 Pokemon that are evolved from previous season Pokemon to be very good matches. I would have preferred them to have just been left alone.

If you want to talk about evolutions not looking like previous forms, I could say something about the Dragonair/Dragonite & Trapinch/Vibrava Electrike/Manectric combos. Electivire & Magmortar certainly look more like their previous forms than those do to theirs.
