It's already that time of year?

Ok, I have been on vizzed a long long time, and let me assure you, I have seen this thread about a 12 thousand times.

It usually pops up in the early summer and around Christmas; also other random times.

The reason most of you feel this way is for two reasons:

1. The biggest reason. Vizzed is fluid and goes through changes of attitude frequently. I've been on long enough to promise you it never REALLY changes that much, it just cycles. In other words there are ups and downs. Right  now the dynamic and 'feel' of the board is a little... more "blah"? that usual. But it's only temporary, give it a month or two.

2. People go through "journeys" on Vizzed, When you first start posting a lot and making friends, and discovering vizzed, your perception of it IS different from after you've been on it, and nothing is really 'new' anymore. Some of your friend leave, you get to know the mods and realize they are just other imperfect users, etc. You mature here on vizzed and the way you think of it changes, that's life, and that's why many users don't stay here forever. A few do stay, but most are born into vizzed as newbs, grow up learning and playing, become seasoned and well known, and then grow old and die as inactive elites. It's the sad but understandable truth. Yet there are always a fresh generation to follow, and often generations seem to come in 'packs'. Often users get reincarnated after being away for a year or two and then repeat the cycle.

To be honest, the current mod team is a very good one compared to many I've seen. But they go through ups and downs along with the rest of the board, posts, threads, attitude, etc.

There's always changes, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but at the end of the equation, it's always pretty equal, if not a little positive.

The only reason I have not yet permanently abandoned this site is because of my special friends who are more dear to me than nine tenths of the people I have met in real life.

To cut a long story short, without A user of this, sonicthehedgehog57, Eniitan, greenluigi, Mecha Leo, Matthew2321, Mr. Zed, and other beloved friends there is not enough time to mention, I would have gone AWOL months ago.

I don't need to summon any of the above to see this 'wonderful, heartwarming post NintendoFanKimmy made' for them. They should already know I care about them, and I am pretty sure they do.

Just thought I'd let some of you know that there still are some love-based friendships on this site, and 'the new wave of newbies' is not completely helpless.

I love you all. And without that love, there would just be no reason for me to stay here anymore. That's why I haven't gone yet. This probably doesn't mean much to any of you, as I have had my reputation screwed several times over the course of my registration to Vizzed, and I probably don't mean much.

I just hope my example friendship can rekindle the flame of hope in the hearts of those whom have yet to have a spark.

I agree on all points with what you said. But I mainly try to improve the RGR and VGR, with somewhat modding.

I think that Vizzed has taken a turn from what it used to be, but also a turn for a better website.

Back in the day I was more active on the forums and stuff, specially your "ask me" thread which holds a 1/4 of all my posts (which aren't that many anyway). I was fueled with the wonder of how this community was, because I neglected it for quite a long time.

Now I only come here to collect my daily Viz. I don't even make reviews anymore, which was like the thing I liked to do the most here on the site.
The main problem there is probably the fact that I don't have any friends here. Heck, the only person I directly talked to (and that's a bit stretchy) was you on your "ask me" thread.

But the community as a whole hasn't changed much, but from I've seen from my little peeks from time to time was a decrease in numbers (in the forum that is, the RGR looks pretty full) To give you an idea, in this random RGR search, there are 10 users. Guests? 505. They just don't bother to make an account because the community appears unappealing.

It has been like that since my days of being a guest. I assume that they came here for the same reasons, which was to play. That's what shows up first on a Google search: Play Retro Games. Not Talk With A Lot Of People And Have Fun With That. Not even the tournaments can change their minds, I mean the hell do they care if they get viz? They don't need it for anything and once the 5 games expire they just go away and come tomorrow.

Also, I don't know much about personalities due to my lack of involvement, but it doesn't seem all that bad...when it's not Tour de Vizzed. Then posts start to feel funny and dead.

tl;dr if the same number of people who go to the game room went to the forums it would be a whole lot better.

It's nice to see so many varied responses. I'm glad this thread had the effect I wanted.

This wasn't merely a "Vizzed used to be better in the past thread", or "I remember the good old days with my now inactive friends"

This was never a thread about the decline of the Site. After all the site's features have improved. It's pretty hard to argue it hasn't.

Regarding the state of the Community. It depends on the view of the person judging it. After all you are unlikely to see a moderator saying that the moderators aren't very good, Neither will you see a newbie telling people how good the olden times were,

I mentioned in my first post about threads that make people think and feel things.. This was my aim for this thread.. I'd consider it to be successful.

Essentially, It's always nice to see things from other people's perspectives. If everyone felt the same it would be a very boring world indeed.

Scohui, your post is obviously going to set off a chain reaction of aggression. Think about the possibility of flaming in the end result before posting.

UFC : Not for this type of thread, when Sonicmcmuffin is looking for serious thoughts on this thread. Your first post is fine, but the rest afterwards were off topic, flame baiting, and inconsiderate of other people's opinions. If you don't like other people's thoughts, just say you don't like it and why. Don't go attacking on people's character. Also with how descriptive your posts were, it goes beyond joshing. Just go by this thought next time you post: "If I have nothing constructive to say, don't say anything at all"

I will have to be honest here, most people who thought that our community should become better also liked Yoshi his post in the staff apps thread, which surprises me. Is that the way we should change?

I don't really know, vizzed hasn't really looked like it's changed for the worst. of course, it might be that I've only been here since last September.....
