It really depends on the type of show.
Drama's or serials should be about 1 hour.
Comedy's should be 30 min.
Kid's shows should be less than 20 minutes.
That's how i'd like it.

I think that shows should be 45 minutes with ads because a 30 minute show with ads seems too short, and I like to have a little bit longer of a show, but not an hour, as that seems a little too long.

I prefer the supposed standard of 30 minutes. Though I would prefer it without ads. A perfect medium if you ask me. It is a short enough time that I can justify watching it, but long enough to keep my attention. A bunch of the shows on TV are now barely lasting 18 minutes (30 with ads) and I just cannot stand it. The ads take away from the experience, the shows are not long enough, and I can barely keep interest on them anymore, anyway.

I generally use Amazon Instant Video or online streaming, nowadays. They both can be hooked up to the TV, and I do so for AIV.

Though, once you start, you'll never want to watch regular TV because you'll get so used to it being ad-free.

It has been a while. It was littered with ads, and now I am glad that I use my computer and stream the shows online. The majority of what I watch is actually anime and foreign films though, so I am rarely able to use the TV for that, anyway. Ad-block is also a nice thing. I use it unless I really feel like giving support to the sites that I love, unless the ads kill my computer. Siliconera has so many ads that I cannot even run the front page properly without having some serious lag.

I like the 40 minute shows, but sometimes if the story of that episode is really strong then an hour would be welcomed. I like the shows that vary with the time. That way you won't be like, Oh 30 minutes in, here comes the solution to the problem.

I enjoy 40 to an hour shows but sometimes if it is cartoons or anime I am fine with it being 25 minutes. Kid shows to me should be 30 minutes or 25. Though there is some kid shows that last an hour and a half long.
