I think I might go with the original that started it all, Super Mario Kart.

For me its Mario Kart Wii but somethings I miss like being able to have to people riding on one kart and some characters were exchanged. What I like about Mario Kart Wii is finding people friend codes and going on the internet.

Wii version by far...it has tracks from previous versions and many unlockable characters and vehicles. not to mention the bikes! the online feature is also amazing. I own the wii version and the gc version (double dash) and i bought double dash after the wii version just so i could have some more options. my second pick would be super circut...i had a lot of friends with this game and we used to link up about 4 GBAs and play...it was the closest you could get to online play with a hand held back then and it was awesome!

I think that Mario Kart Wii is slightly better than Mario Kart 64 cause Mario Kart Wii has awesome levels, good music, Motorcycles and it's really fun to play online!

I have to say that Mario Kart: Double Dash is my favorite Mario Kart game. You get to choose a pair of the driver and the gunner, or the person who destroys the enemies with the items. There are many different pairs to choose, many different viechles, and places to defeat your opponent. Eventhough it lacks the variety of characters to choose, I still like the game. I remember playing it with my cousins. It brings back the memories.

Mario Kart Wii is also awesome. The graphics were Not mind-blowing, but charming and polished. Some decent effects, nice model work, mixed offerings in track design, and nice retro worlds. Core gameplay is great, with tricking and bikes adding a whole new level. We could use a faster cc class though. Annoying rubber band AI makes 150cc a chore, and cheapens GP. Local play is fun, but online rocks. Rankings, full ghost integration, reliable online play, smooth connections, Wi-Fi tournaments, and more make this game more interesting.

I'm a fan of all of them, and even have Super Mario Kart for the SNES, but I'd have to go with Mario Kart Wii. Its beautiful graphics and playability makes it the win for me.

Of all the Mario Karts, I would say Double Dash on the Game Cube for absolutely sure, although after playing it for a month recently on a friend cube, I unfortunately started to get bored by the lack of circuits and and variation within the game, now this problem is not restricted to this version, and this one just so happens to have the most choice and variety of any of the games, but I did get tired of it quite quickly.

I therefore decided to re-visit my childhood memories and play the SNES version, for that all important playability factor, and soon realised that after the Game Cube there really is no looking back, I switched it off after only one lap.

It does seem to me that retro gaming is therefore abit of a mixed blessing, I don't know about other members here, but I used to play all these consoles when I was young and on the whole had a great time, sure there were loads of "s***ty games that sucked ass" as the AVGN would say but on the whole I used to rent mine and only bought those I knew I was destined to play over and over again, the only one I regret buying was Landstalker for he Genesis, ironically this was also the game I spent longest on, but in the end its sheer lack of playability and weird diagonal controls meant that I got to a point where I was playing the part of the dog and found it impossible to continue by being unable to jump in the direction I wanted too, that was one tough game.

So when I re-visit old games I don't now have the innocence and sense of wonder I had as a kid, Road Rash was one of my favourites, here it is a piece of well road-trash. I used to love playing Super Mario world, but here its not the same, without the SNES machine, which now has long dissapeared into the vaults of history, in the room with the comforting smell of warm plastic it gave off after many hours of satisfying game play and the amazing 6!!!! button gamepad!!!!!! yes 6 button (+start and select) we were hypnotised by it. It was a lovely time and I remember fondly playing Mario Kart for the first time and thinking it cannot get better than this and the wonderful split screen that enabled me to race my cousin. She used to get so angry when I beat her. The sheer frustration of the higher cc model (I recall there were only 2 in those days).

I hated the GB versions as the screen was too small for my liking for this game and for me it lost its charm and then there was the N64 version which I kind of liked and sometimes play here, but its not great.

The cube version as I said, has the most choice, can't see too much point in having 2 riders, it does double your bonus box selection, but you can pick up new boxes as one player as you go along anyway, I find the animation great though when they swap over and when you drift, but this addition really adds little to the overall game.

I found the battle a bit boring, but I guess if tou had over a few mates (more than the 2 of us in my case) things could start to heat up.

If anyone can recommend any racing games here that are worth a look, that would be great. For now then I have been mostly posting rather than playing, its been more fun reading replies to threads and contributing to others posts.

Memories are wonderful things, think I will sign off now and watch a cartoon or two.

It was a hard choice to vote between Wii and Double Dash, but in the end I voted for MK:Wii because of it's wider range of characters and funner more interactive gameplay. I liked double dash because of it's unique design and cool easy use of two characters simultaniously.

I did seriously enjoy Double Dash, but Mario Kart Wii was just so much fun. The Miis were a nice addition to the list of racers. Maple Treeway is my favorite course. Rainbow Road was a bit better in Double Dash, but one race track isn't enough of a redemption.

I love Double Dash (aka the only mario kart game i was ever decent in) and I absolutely hated Mario Kart Wii. I can see how people liked it with the motion steering and online play and other stuff, but I found it way too hard to master. Double Dash it is for me.
