I hated the Dragonball movie. It made a mockery out of my favorite anime series. :/ The original cartoons were the best without a doubt, although I liked the DB movie better than the horrible Avatar movie.....

Ellert : I dont remember anyone saying it was better than the series. i definitely didnt haha.

And I think the worst movie in the history of film-making is a bit extreme... i'm just going to tell you of a movie you may or may not know called Plan 9 from Outer Space. Or a more recent one, The room. Or for a really bad adaptation movie... how about House of the Dead? Silent Hill?

Of course everyone has a right to their own opinion, but that's my view. Haha good call about Basshunter but i think the same rule applies. My vote for worst movie I've seen goes to Twilight!

Honestly, I watched the first twenty minutes and I was done. I couldn't stand it. Seriously, from what I saw of this movie, it felt like a fan fiction written by a bunch of fan girls. Kerubi is right, if they would have just tried to make it an original movie it would have been all right. But for DB and DBZ fans like me, trying to relate this to DB and DBZ was a fail.

Agreed. Twilight blows.....terribly.

XxChaosxX : That is totally unfair to say that simply changing the title and names would have made it a good movie. The plot, action, special effects, all that stuff would have remained the same. If your complaint is only the names of the characters and the title, I don't consider your view to be fair. In fact, in my own opinion, character names and movie title are the least important part of the movie because they don't affect anything. Not even the script, except where names are said.

Good points, but it doesn't change the fact that it was NOTHING like Dragonball, Dragonball Z, or anything like that. It was more like they just took some random modern teenage movie
and added super powers. The thing with DBZ is, it's so popular that making a live action movie is near impossible to do, and it doesn't help when the fans can't recognize even one of their favorite characters.. cuz I know i couldn't. Maybe it wasn't as terrible as people make it out to be, but it's still nothing a DBZ fan would ever enjoy.

Pretty much, the same thing happened with this movie that happened with the live action Street Fighter movies.

Don_Rob : I'm a Die hard DB/Z/GT fan. I enjoyed the movie as a Hollywood movie. Agreed, making a movie on such a popular series is infinitely difficult to do but, part of it is also the fans who refuse to see it just because it's not the anime. Part of it is the company funding the movie; there's a lot of factors. All around, I think the movie was enjoyable to me because I felt like the actors were into the movie and they really wanted to do their best representation of the characters while putting themselves into it. Haha maybe a little less on the cheesy love plot... It's like they knew that it was a cheesy subplot O.o

Yeah, makes alot of sense, but I can understand the frustration of not being able to recognize whatever the heck is going on, It happened to me when I randomly caught a glimpse of the 80's live action movie. I've no doubt they gave it their all in the movie but... it's probably safe the say this kinda thing will keep happening..lol.

Yeah, personally i liked the 80's live action one because it was hilariously cheesy, where as my main problem with the modern one is that it was just plain..cheesy.

cob : I'm appalled that you mentioned Silent Hill as a bad adaption. -bans forever-

As a rule of thumb I never watch real life adaptions of anime. They almost all are terrible, there are a couple that are okay, but there are none that are amazing.

Zamiel : You have a good point, in general DB is a fair representation of how anime-based live action movies turn out. But at the same time, that doesn't make it horrible. Just... hollywood.

Noye that I didn't capitalize "hollywood" since it is used as an adjective not a proper noun. I was corrected by my boss as I post this at work.

MichaelVash7886 : I agree that Dragonball was bad in comparison to those movies but, as I said, as far as a hollywood Dragonball movie is concerned, the movie wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

The only reason I rented the movie was cause my friends told me Piccolo fights Ozaru in the end. I was kinda expecting a giant monkey, not a guy running around a tiny set inside a gorilla suit wearing Goku's clothing.

Also since someone mentioned The Last Airbender not being so bad: In the anime the Earthbenders couldn't fight the Firebenders 'cause they where on an iron ship, so they had no earth. In the movie the Earthbenders didn't fight 'cause they didn't feel like it... Yep, great story telling right there.

I for one am still looking forward to the Hollywood live action adaptations of Cowboy Bebop and Death Note.
