Fire Emblem - Tactics Universe 01-25-16 02:31 AM |
A New Competitor for Fire Emblem Fire Emblem: Tactics Universe, game by FireBlazerx17, review by Macman3 Overall (9.3/10) Such a great game, and considering it was one person who made an entire story from scratch, using an outdated engine. Blazer did a phenomenal job with his creation here, the story has a great tone to it, that just makes you want to keep playing. Graphics (10 /10) The graphics on this game are amazing, as they made many custom animations for each character, including a miss animation, a striking animation, and a critical animation, for almost all characters (healers cant critical, nor miss) and they look amazing, no words can describe how great these graphics truly are. Sound (10/10) The music for this game is very easy to listen to, it fits perfect with the way the game plays.I think it just adds to the overall feeling you get while playing through the game. You can simply sit and take a listen for several hours not even playing, I'll sum this up in one word, Flawless Addictiveness (10/10) Warning: this game will force you to play for hours. I had to stop only when my arm started to get tired from pressing A (I have it set to Q) so much. Something about this game makes me want to play more. Would recommend to anyone who wants to play a good long strategy game. (game length varies based on what the user actually wants to complete, more in "Depth" category) Story (10/10) Dear God this story is fantastic, you can easily pick it up, learn the story, and play through it to the end. The story is very comedic, with many one liners that make you chuckle. In my opinion, it rivals the quality of the real releases for fire emblem, I hope to see more custom stories from Blazer. Depth (8/10) There is quite a long story, with plenty to do. When you try to be a perfectionist, and complete ALL chapters getting ALL playable characters at the highest possible stats, it can take tens-hundreds of hours. However, the problem is, unless... Fire Emblem - Fuuin no Tsurugi (english translation) 01-20-16 12:58 AM |
A Good Return of a Classic Game Having played all other Fire Emblems released in America, I was a fan, I loved the story of them, the sound is catchy and fun to listen to while killing enemy troops, and it was all in all a very fun experience. This game follows this, the story is phenomenal, no spoilers but it plays with the players emotions. A good story is a story that you never want to put down, it encompasses you into wasting 7-8 hours just playing to know what happens, and what the end of the game is like, and this game (in personal opinion) accomplishes that better than any other fire emblem. The sound is very catchy, once the player listens to it for a couple minutes, they can start humming it to themselves, which is exactly what a games soundtrack needs to do to be good. The difficulty is hard to rate, the better you are at strategy, the easier it is, and (for those who have yet to play) once the main character dies, its game over, but if someone other than him dies, you never get to use them again, which makes the game much harder if you make a mistake, such as taking a risk and getting burned for it. This game may be great, but it does have some flaws, such as the fact that its such a small game, compared to others in the series. The graphics themselves are really generic, however, they get a high score because of all of the animation which for 2003 standards were amazing, and even more with the restrictions of the GBA. Now, this game is addictive, if you re-play it, you notice things you didn't notice when you first play through, and you there are some characters who you can only recruit during battles, as an enemy. The problem with this is that you have to have a specific person talk to them, without killing them, which is risky because unless you look it up, you don't know who you need to talk to them with, so you can sometimes sit there and play through the mission 10-20 times to get that one character. This game requir... Read the rest of this Review |
Pokemon Crystal All (hack) 01-19-16 12:25 AM |
A New Cut on Things Great mod which makes it much harder to play, unfortunately, not everyone likes a challenge, as seen with many other games which tried to be hard (dark souls, fire emblem, etc). This mod specifically targets strategy gamers, and changes how people play overall. The main change is that for the most part you're fighting Pokémon that are actually STRONGER than yours, which is interesting and quite frankly fun, it makes you think of a way to beat it without just beating it with a stick. (change being about 3 for default game to 8 for this mod) this also applies to trainers, making gyms much harder if you don't have the proper types to get through it. So, in all, its either hit or miss whether you are fine with a harder game, which is respectable either way The graphics are generic for a 2d Pokémon game, and decent for a game-boy game, nothing else to really say The music is very catchy, and it's possible to listen for hours on end to it, and it makes the experience much better for the player. The battle sounds are decent for the year of release (2001) and the fact that the music is so good, The game is much more fun to replay, and the higher difficulty makes much more challenges seem much harder and require much more thinking ahead to accomplish, such as a 6 Pokémon max run-through, forcing you to think what 6 Pokémon can defeat all 8 gyms, elite four, AND champion without help. The story, it isn't really there, it doesn't really do anything special. The game is typical length, 10-11 cities, victory road, and the Pokémon league, then all you have to do is finish collecting as many Pokémon as you'd like, very overused. |
