Pokemon Fire Red Omega

Review Of Fire Red Omega
Pokemon Fire Red Omega is meant to be a difficulty hack. It's not flashy and it's not incredibly different from the normal Fire Red. Most of the areas, if not all of them, are exactly the same. The things changed though, are the enemies and what they use, the levels, and even how smart they are.

Graphics- 10/10: Graphics are the same as Fire Red. Which is perfectly okay, because it's just meant to be a harder version of the normal game. Also the hack is pretty old.

Sound- 10/10. Sound is exactly the same. I wouldn't expect it to be different. Even a lot of the new hacks don't change the sounds.

Addictiveness: 7/10. I liked the game a lot. Every gym fight was challenging, and I always wanted to play to the next one. Grinding in this game actually doesn't ruin how addictive it is. Certain trainers in the game give you lot's of experience, and you can rematch them all you want. When ever I was behind in levels, it took me only about 20 minutes to catch up, so the pace was never ruined. Every trainer is using something different and is a little stronger in some way, it made me always want to keep playing. The map though, is mostly unchanged, besides a few spots with extra grass. If you've played the original Fire Red, you won't find much new to look at, as far as areas go. Also the dialogue is unchanged, besides when you get free stuff.

Story: 10/10. Literally nothing changed from Fire Red. Which is better than quickly coming up with some random story that doesn't make  any sense.

Depth: 6/10 I noticed some small things I liked. When they made Fire Red, they took out some of the trainers from Red/Blue and made them weaker. In this hack, it brings back every difficult trainer. An example of this is the level 16 Raticate in the first cave. Everyone in the game has a changed team which is nice. Although besides the different battles, you won't find anything else new to do. The starters are all different, and actually aren... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon - A Grand Day Out

A Grand Day Out
Pokémon: A Grand Day Out. This is a short hack, where the goal is to find out why Team Rocket is planting bombs in random places. Even though it takes only an hour to beat, it's still made worth playing.

GRAPHICS: 10/10. The graphics are the same as the FireRed/LeafGreen. It's a short, small hack, which like the creator said took a short time to make. There would be no reason to change the graphics.

SOUND: 10/10. The sound is already okay, the same as the original FireRed/LeafGreen and isn't necessary to change for this hack.

ADDICTIVENESS: 4/10. This game is worth playing once. It's basically a short story, and with one play you see everything. There's no reason to play this game again, because with the grinding, it's not worth it and would be repetitive. Since the game only has a few areas, and battles, You're limited on what you can use as a team. You also don't pick a starter, the game does that for you.

STORY: 8/10. This game really does play out like a short story. It starts like a normal Pokémon game, but you find out early on Team Rocket is using bombs to blow up different places, such as routes and forests. You track the Team Rocket leader to find out why. It's a simple story, but it has funny dialogue, and almost everybody says something different than normal. It has some grinding you need to do, but it's not enough to get in the way of the story. The story is Anti-climatic though.

DEPTH: 6/10. The game only takes you through a few areas. But, the dialogue in every area is new. As far as I know, the game has no glitches. You're free to explore it as much as you want. The map is mostly the same as the original game, but it has a few extra areas, such as the bomb hut, and an extra cave. It does well enough for a short game.

DIFFICULTY: 7/10. This game has grinding, and it's painful in the beginning. Early on you start fighting against level 12's. The only area you can grind in is against ... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Rebirth

A small hack, a bit less than a "rebirth"
Pokémon Emerald rebirth is a very small rom hack. This actually isn't too much different than the original game. This hack took an hour at most to make, but that doesn't make it a bad thing. Actually, the only things different are the wild Pokémon encounters. The creator also made some areas possible to skip.

GRAPHICS: 10/10. Nothing is different about the graphics. The graphics, like the majority of hacks, are the same as the original game. And the original graphics still hold up well.

SOUND: 10/10. The sound is the exact same as the original game. Nothing wrong with this, the original sounds and music are good enough and don't need to be messed with.

ADDICTIVENSS: 3/10. Simple isn't a bad thing. That's what this hack is. But it's so simple, I'll probably never play it again. This hack only has small changes to which Pokémon you find. That's all this hack really has to offer. It's fun if you want something a bit different from the original Pokémon Emerald, but one play through of it and I've seen everything. I have no reason to come back to this.

STORY: 5/10. He didn't change the story, or any text at all if I recall. Since the story is the same as the original Pokémon Emerald, which I already played, I found myself skipping through all the text. The original story wasn't bad, but being the exact same as the original and nothing else, gives me less reason to come back and play this.

DEPTH: 3/10. Not really any depth for a game called "Rebirth". Like I mentioned, very little changed in this hack. It went on a while like the original Emerald but had nothing really unique about it. Emerald is a decent sized game with a lot to do, but this hack didn't add anything to that.

DIFFICULTY: 2/10. This game is very easy. Actually, it's easier than the original Emerald. As I said, the Pokémon you find are different, and better. The trainer and gym Pokémon are the exact same though. You ge... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon Fire Red - Backwards Edition

Pokemon - FireRed Backwords
Pokemon Fire Red Backwards Edition. This is a very unique Pokemon hack, and as far as I know, the only one of it's kind. Like the title says, you go through Pokemon Fire Red backwards. There is more to this game then just playing through backwards though. Towns are slightly changed, along with a few moves, and trainers, and wild Pokemon. Dialogue is also changed to make it more funny. (Although it can be slightly offensive to some.)

Graphics: 10/10. It wouldn't be fair to rate the graphics for this hack. The creator obviously didn't intend to change them and they are the same as the original Pokemon Fire Red.

Sound: 10/10. The sound is the same as the original as the original Pokemon Fire Red. The creator obviously didn't intend to change them like with the graphics.

Addictiveness. 6/10. I thought it was really cool to play this game backwards, and I really enjoyed seeing all the changes. In-fact, that's the only reason this game is in anyway addictive. This game forces you to grind or struggle, which I didn't think like at all. This isn't a game I will replay, and if I do, it won't be for a long time.

Story. 2/10. The original Pokémon Fire Red never had a great story, and this hack tried to add it's own little story. The story is Team Rocket trying to capture the 3 legendary birds. It is really lazy and doesn't go into depth at all. There is also a post game story, which is really short and supposed to be unbeatable.

Depth. 10/10. The slight changes to every town kept me playing this game from start to finish. Of course playing the game backwards, it makes everything different. Dialogue to almost every trainer is changed and I enjoyed all of it. Primeape which is originally a fighting type, is changed to a ground type. The move teleport is changed to explosion. Little changes like these didn't make sense, but also made it much more interesting to me.

Difficulty. 10/10. My biggest problem with this ... Read the rest of this Review
