Addams Family for NES
Thanks for reading my review of The Addams Family for Nintendo!  --kramer4077

Overall  9/10--Yeah, they're creepy and they're kooky and all that jazz!  You know the crazy TV show The Addams Family, right?  Well this is a Nintendo game based on that odd TV show.  The game is very cute and has that "classic Nintendo" feel to it.  You play the game as Gomez, the father of the Addams family.  He has to run around the house and try to find his family members--Morticia, Lurch, Wednesday, Pugsley, and I think even little old Granny.  The game wasn't all that popular, but is quite the Nintendo gem I must say!  I am just now seeing there are versions of this game on other consoles, but I can't compare this game with those.  I consider it similar to Maniac Mansion for Nintendo, so if you are familiar with and enjoy that game, you will probably also like this one!  It has more of a mission to it other than just kill all the bad guys.  You should give The Addams Family Nintendo game a try if you haven't played it before!

Graphics:  9/10--Well the original television show was in black and white, so the graphics seem like a Picasso masterpiece compared to that :)  The designs of the mansion and characters are all very splendid.  There are some intricate details in this game, and as I've previously said, the style of it reminds me a lot of Maniac Mansion.

Sound:  9/10--Um...the Addams Family theme song might be stuck in your head afterword...just warning you!  It's constantly playing in the background and there are cool sound effects.

Addictiveness:  9/10--Yes, this game is addictive.  You will want to try and save all the family members and beat the game.  When I played this game as a child, I could never beat it.  It's very difficult, yet fun, which is what makes it so addictive!  There are enemies everywhere that d... Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York

Home Alone 2 for NES
Thanks for reading my review of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York for Nintendo! --kramer4077

Overall:  8/10--First off, let me say that the first Home Alone game for Nintendo is actually one of my favorite video games of all time.  In that version you run around as Kevin trying to escape Harry and Marv in the house for 20 minutes.  The robbers chase you and you have to lay down traps that they fall into so you can run away and hide.  Despite lots of people not liking it that version, that game has lots of excellent qualities that I enjoy.  This version is very different from the first Home Alone for Nintendo.  If you didn't enjoy the first Home Alone, you might prefer this version.  In Home Alone 2: Lost in New York you play as Kevin but this time you are in various places in New York City.  You begin your journey in a hotel and there are many cut-scenes explaining the story.  Basically Harry and Marv, the robbers, are trying to find Kevin in New York City. You, as Kevin, have to run all over this hotel trying to escape.  Then you end up in Central Park.  Along the way you can pick up a stun gun and shoot people and slide into things with your knees to destroy them, so the whole concept is different than Home Alone, where you lay down traps for the robbers to fall in to.

Graphics:  7/10--Not really the best graphics for a Nintendo game.  At times the color schemes make it difficult to see objects that you need to jump and get.  However, that may be the way the developer intended it to be for more of a challenge.  There are lots of nice colors, but things aren't as detailed as I've seen in other Nintendo games.

Sound:  8/10--Lots of entertaining sound effects and music going on in this Home Alone game.  Very decent for a Nintendo game.

Addictiveness:  6/10--This game can get a little frustrating, especially when you lose ... Read the rest of this Review

Puzzle Star Sweep for PlayStation
Thanks for reading my review of Puzzle Star Sweep for PlayStation!  This will be a short review, since this game is not worthy of too much of my time or yours! --kramer4077

Overall:  2/10--First of all, I'm mainly writing this to warn you NOT to waste your time by trying out this game.  The game title sounds really cute and all, so that's why I tried it out.  Also the game description says it's similar to Tetris, but don't let that fool you!  I love Tetris, and this game is nothing like it!  You know those big long annoying skinny rectangles you get in Tetris that you never know where to put?...Well, those are the ONLY types of pieces in this puzzle game!  Also, when they show you the "next" piece it's actually not that piece...you have to remember the piece that was previously in that square.  It's like a horrible memory puzzle game that I do not recommend playing!

Graphics:  6/10--The colors are very nice and bright.  Everything looks fine in this PlayStation puzzle game, but nothing is too extraordinary.

Sound:  6/10--It had some decent music and sound effects playing in the background, but nothing special.

Addictiveness:  1/10--I turned this game off after about 5 minutes, so I did not find this game at all addictive.  I even tried all the modes the game had to offer.  The difficulty made this game not worth my time.

Story:  1/10--It says there is a story mode, but it just seemed like an opponent trash-talked you and then the puzzle game starts up.  I feel like that mode was falsely advertised...

Depth:  3/10--This game has lots of modes...one-player mode, story mode, vs. mode, and attack mode.  You would think with all those modes this would be a great game.  However, each mode moves right into the same tricky puzzle game.  The story mode had no real story at all, which was very disappointing.  ... Mario Party 2

Who Wants to Party?
Thanks for reading my review of Mario Party 2 for Nintendo 64!  --kramer4077

Overall:  9.5/10--Who wants to party?!  Have a Mario party that is!  I have played all the Mario Party games and this is my second favorite one to play.  Mario Party 3 is just a tad bit better for the fact that you can hold three items instead of just one.  I just love the original Mario Party games better than the newer Wii versions.  Those are fun in their own way, but there was just something so cool about being able to play a game like this with four players on the Nintendo 64 console.  Previous game consoles like NES and Super Nintendo only allowed for two players at a time.  Anyways, Mario Party 2 is quite simply a great game to play with real friends since you can play with up to four people.  This game came out in the days before you could play against another person online...you actually had to have the friend with you in the same room!  Can you believe video games used to be played that way? :P  The object of the Mario Party games is to be the player who gets the most stars on after 20, 35, or 50 turns on the game board.  You collect coins as you go by landing on blue spaces or you can win them in the mini-games.  You need 20 coins to buy a star.  You can also get helpful items as you go through the game.  For example, a mushroom item will give you two dice blocks instead of one and a golden mushroom will give you three dice blocks so you can get further around the game board.  In Mario Party 3 they allow you to carry three items at a time.  In Mario Party 2 you can only carry one item.  The game-play is pretty straight-forward and easy to follow along with even if you've never played before.  Make sure you try Mario Party 2 or one of the early versions before you try a more complicated Wii version.  The Wii-mote adds a whole different element to gameplay tha... Word Munchers..tricky to think so quickly!
Thanks for reading my review of Number Munchers for Apple II!  --kramer4077

Overall: 9/10--Similar to Number Munchers, Word Munchers is probably a classic game you played in elementary school if you were a child of the late 80s or early 90s!  In Word Munchers you play as a little frog-like creature and you run around a game board trying to munch up the correct answers before you get eaten by a "troggle."  If you get caught or choose a wrong answer you lose a turn and you only get three lives.  This version of Munchers is a very challenging one.  It involves finding correct answers to vowel sounds in words.  If I was sitting in a classroom taking a test it would be no big deal to get the answers correct.  However, the game of Word Munchers is fast-paced and you must choose the answers correctly before the troggles get you!  All in all, this is an addictive, exciting game of...words...yes, I said words :)  If you never played this game in school, you need to try it today to see what you've been missing all these years!

Graphics:  9/10--The graphics are really amazing for early technology!  This game has a nice color scheme and everything is very clear.  You can clearly read the words and see where your character is moving.  It is too bad that the screenshots for the game come out really small and hard to see.  During game-play you can see everything just fine, and I'm not sure why the screenshots come out that way for Apple II games.

Sound:  10/10--EVERYBODY knows the classic sounds in these Muncher games!  You would live for the moment your fourth grade teacher told the class you were going to the computer lab that day!  It's as though you could hear that enjoyable beep, beep, beep of the muncher eating the correct answers.  Look out when the troggle gets you because it plays a little tune that will stick in your brain for a lifetime!

Bases Loaded for NES is a Homerun!
Thanks for reading my review of Bases Loaded for Nintendo!  --kramer4077

Overall:  8/10--This certainly is one of the great classic sports games out there for Nintendo.  I think it was the first sports video game I ever played as a youngster.  The game understandably has it's flaws, which is why I scored it 8/10.  However, there is something so refreshing about just being able to throw a pitch or swing a bat with the "A" button instead of having complicated controls.  I recently tried playing MLB '12 for Xbox 360 and it's a whole different ballgame, literally!  The controls for figuring out what to pitch are so complicated it really takes away from the fun of the game.  That's not the case at all with Bases Loaded.  It's one of the original baseball video games.  The person pitching the ball can hold down the arrow for where they'd like the ball thrown and the batter can swing up high, down low, or right down the middle.  These controls can limit game-play for those of you who may like the ability to pick which pitch you are throwing like the newer baseball games offer.  One issue I have is that my outfielders never seem to be in the right place at the right time and it's difficult to control your outfielders.  On the other hand, the computer opponent's outfielders can catch almost anything I hit at them!  All in all, this is an awesome game that you should try if you haven't played it yet.  Here is the breakdown of categories I've scored:

Graphics:  9/10--Compared to other Nintendo games, this game has a very classy feel to it.  The graphics aren't gimmicky or fake.  The graphics are trying to be as realistic as possible to create the impression that you are actually using real players and watching a game on TV.  The colors are nice and it's easy to tell the white from the gray uniforms.

Sound:  9/10--There are lots of good baseball so... Read the rest of this Review
Paperboy 2

Paperboy 2 for Game Boy
Thanks for reading my review of Paperboy 2 for the original Game Boy!  --kramer4077

Overall:  6/10--Well for sure this version doesn't live up to the first Paperboy for Game Boy, the NES, or different versions.  You cannot see everything you need to on the screen at the same time.  It's probably easier to see on the computer screen than the teeny, tiny Game Boy screen.  However, the game expects you to watch where you're going, throw newspapers to the houses, and avoid obstacles all at the same time.  This is very difficult because if you make a wrong turn or steer your character the wrong way there could just end up being a blank screen.  I found myself wondering, "Where am I?" several times throughout the game as the screen went to total white.  The game isn't all bad in that it is very challenging to deliver the papers to the correct houses. There is one plus, that you can choose to be a paper-GIRL instead of the regular paper-BOY, although the pictures look similar since you are seeing the back view of the character.

Graphics:  6/10--The thing about the original Game Boy is that there's no color--just black, white, and grays.  I know I'm judging it compared to other Game Boy games, and I have seen better use of the graphics in other games.  The developers left too many places where you can't see what you're doing and you end up on the wrong side of the street or can't see the houses when you need to without riding right up to it.  So for those issues, I have to down-grade the graphics.

Sound:  6/10--There's some decent sound effects, but nothing too fancy in Paperboy 2.

Addictiveness: 3/10--I don't desire to play it again. It's not nearly as good as the first Paperboy.  Some people might like the extra challenges of riding right up to the houses.  I like the original version where the paperboy stayed on the sidewalk and threw th... Read the rest of this Review

Skate or Die for Nintendo

Thanks for reading my review of Skate or Die for Nintendo!  --kramer4077

Overall:  9/10--I just rated Ski or Die for Nintendo as well.  Skate or Die is very similar to that game since it involves playing a series of mini-games.  You skateboard around to enter the different games and there's a shop where you can buy and view things.  The mini-games all involve some kind of skateboarding.  There is a Half-Pipe, Downhill Jam, and Pool Joust among the games.  All the mini-games, especially the Pool Joust is very fun to play against a real opponent.  If you aren't playing with a real friend, you can have a computer opponent in this game.  Skate or Die goes very well with Ski or Die or Skate or Die 2.  I suggest playing one of those games after this one to add to the competition between you and a friend since you are limited to just a handful of mini-games in this game alone.

Graphics:  8/10--Comparing the graphics to other Nintendo games, they are all right for a NES game.  Not the best, but not terrible either.  You can see the images and numbers in the scores pretty clearly if playing on a normal-sized computer or TV.

Sound:  8/10--Sound and music are all very nice.  The theme song can get stuck in your head for days...skate or die, skate or die, die, die, die...

Addictiveness:  9/10--Skate or Die is a very fun game, especially if you play against a real opponent.  It can be a great challenge against someone good.  My brother and I used to play this all the time as kids since there weren't many Nintendo games that allowed you to compete at the same time.  The Half-Pipe mini-game can definitely be addicting, since there are many different skateboarding tricks you can do to increase your total score.  As I stated before, this game is similar to Ski or Die or California Games.  If you enjoy the types of games that ha... Ski or Die...Winter Fun!

Thanks for reading my review of Ski or Die for Nintendo! --kramer4077Overall: 9/10--What's a young girl to do on a cold, snowy night in Wisconsin?  Stay home and Play Ski or Die of course!  This game is a classic for the NES from my childhood!  There are five mini-games for you to try.  You can play them individually or group them together in a tournament.  However you play, Downhill Blitz, Innertube Thrash, Acro Aerials, Snowball Blast, and the Snowboard Half-Pipe games can keep you busy for hours.  It's fun to try to beat a friend!  Snowball Blast and Downhill Blitz were my two favorite mini-games in Ski or Die.  If you have played Skate or Die, you will enjoy this game since they have a similar mini-game tournament style to them.  I hope you give Ski or Die a try!  Here are some specifics about the game:Graphics: 8/10--The graphics are pretty decent for a Nintendo game.  There are lots of snowy backgrounds.  The other kids and creatures looks pretty funny in the Snowball Blast games.  You shouldn't have any trouble seeing your score or images during game-play.  This is coming from someone who used to play this on a 12-inch TV :)Sound:  8/10--The sounds and music are great for a NES game.Addictiveness:  9/10--Well, I wanted to play this every year in the chilly winter around Christmas when I was a kid, so yes, it's rather addictive.  I love games where you can compete with others.  If you're competitive, you will love Ski or Die as well.  It's more fun to play against a human opponent if you can find somebody.  The one-player mode can be fun as well.

Story:  There really is no story since you are competing in those five different winter events.  You can play a tournament mode and try to win the tournament, but there isn't a story with it.

Depth:  7/10--The five events are Downhill Blitz, Innertube Thrash, Acro Aerials, Sn... Read the rest of this Review

Overall 7.5-- I'm going through some PlayStation games looking for ones without screenshots to submit to this site.  I never had a PlayStation, just a PS2 so I'm finding some great games that are new to me!  I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this Power Rangers game.  It was really pretty good to play!  You choose a Power Ranger (I picked blue) and you go through different levels fighting bad guys and trying to rescue hostages.  It reminded me a lot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 for NES.  There aren't bad guys popping up all over the place, which is nice.  The one gripe I have is that the jumping was really strange.  At times the Power Ranger could jump just fine onto something and at other times he could barely jump off the ground.  Also, it's like the game just expected that you'd know where to go next (like fall through the floor or hop on the elevator).  Sometimes an arrow would appear to help you, but other times when you needed help there was no arrow.

Graphics: 8--The graphics were nice and colorful.  The backgrounds were set in lots of different locations--on top of buildings and in parking garages.  I liked that there was no way to fall off the sides of the building during game-play.

Sound: 7--I'm guessing the sound was all right, but I had to mute it since my computer lagged a bit on this game.  There was some background music and voices that would tell you the missions.

Addictiveness: 7--Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised at this game.  It was good enough that I'd play it again to try to finish beating the one-player mode.

Story:  8--There was a story that some other characters would come talk to you in cut-scenes.  The Power Rangers had to find the hostages and beat the bad guys.  The... Read the rest of this Review

Dr. Mario will cure your boredom!
Thanks for reading my review of Dr. Mario for Nintendo 64!! --kramer4077

Overall:  9--Oh, Dr. Mario!  He has cured my boredom on many rainy or snowy Wisconsin days!  I had this game on the original Game Boy.  Yes, that's right, I played this before there was color on the Game Boy and that version was very difficult!  The Nintendo 64 version is my absolute favorite version, and definitely in my top 5 favorite games of all time!  There is something highly addicting about wanting to clear germs off your game screen.

Graphics:  9--The graphics are very nice for a Nintendo 64 game.  Everything is very colorful and there are many different backgrounds you can choose to have behind the game during game-play.  I prefer the lighter backgrounds to the darker ones, but there's a good assortment to choose from!

Sound:  10--Wow, are the songs totally addicting!  They offer the traditional tunes from the original Dr. Mario like "Chill" and there's even some new tunes to try out!  It's like I hear the music in my sleep from this game sometimes.  My brother and I even made up lyrics to the original songs because the tunes are so catchy!

Addictiveness:  10--Once you start killing those germs you won't want to stop!  Just like I hear the music in my sleep sometimes when I close my eyes a game board with colorful germs appears in front of me!  This game is definitely addicting!

Story:  8--The other versions of Dr. Mario don't have a story, but this version has a one player mode with a little story to it.

Depth:  8--This version of Dr. Mario does have more to offer than its predecessors since there is a story mode.  However, all game modes involve putting colorful pills onto germs and lining up 4 of the same color in a row to eliminate the germs.  When all the germs are gone, the level is complete.  You will then be advanced... Double Dare for Nintendo

Thanks for reading my review of Double Dare for Nintendo!  --kramer4077

Overall:  6/10--Did you ever watch the game show Double Dare?  Well, this video game has none of that excitement!  This is more of a multiple-choice question quiz.  The fun part about the TV show was watching the kids play the games and get green slime all over themselves!  You don't get to do that at all in the video game.  The mini-games that I played include throwing a banana at a monkey, putting a hole with a golf club, and tossing a ball at a clown.  Like I said, not too much excitement.  I had never played the video game until recently, so it was a fun way to relive my childhood.  It is a decent game, and worth a try since the game goes so quickly.  Some of the questions are really dated, but that adds to the fun!  "What is Pee Wee Herman's real name?"  Oh yes, good times, see if you can remember some of these answers in this trip down memory lane.  If you are too young to know some of the answers, don't worry since there are three possible answers to guess from.

Graphics:  6/10--The graphics aren't anything special.  You can see things clear enough, but there's not much detail.  You have to read the questions and answer choices and it's all easy enough to read.  There are some mini-games that aren't designed too well.  They involve selecting a speed and angle to throw something at something else, like a banana at a monkey.  The character animations are a bit boring.

Sound:  6/10--There are some sound effects to go along with the game, but nothing too great.  The ticking timer gets a bit irritating.

Addictiveness:  6/10--I ended up playing the game a couple times through to see what kinds of different questions I could get.  The questions repeated a lot though.  After I played once, the same questions were in the ve... Read the rest of this Review

Jeopardy! for NES
Thank you for reading my review of Jeopardy 25th Anniversary Edition for Nintendo!  --kramer4077

Overall:  9--I remember this game from my childhood.  This game was made in 1990, so I was 8 years old and I didn't know very many answers at that time.  Now, when I play this again I still don't know all of the answers since some of the questions are so dated!  It's a fun game to quiz yourself none-the-less!  The categories range from Sports to Children's Literature, so there's always a category that you can master easily and one that might trick you a little bit.  There are many versions of Jeopardy (practically for every game system out there) but this version brings a nostalgic feel to it that you can't find in the Facebook version :)

Graphics:  6--Graphics are all right for a Nintendo game.  The character animations aren't the greatest, but the questions come across the screen clear enough.  You have to type the answers on an alphabet that appears on the screen after you buzz in.  This was before the days of the Wii, so you had to scroll the arrow key through the letters until you got the one you wanted to click on.  All the graphics appear clear enough during gameplay.

Sound:  8--There's the Jeopardy theme song and all that jazz.  There are some sound effects when you buzz in, that kind of thing.

Addictiveness:  9--The game is fun enough and I played through two games the other day with no repeating questions.  There's plenty of content, but I'm sure the questions repeat after a while.  It was just fun to play to see what kinds of things were popular 23 years ago!

Story:  No story, just questions to answer.

Depth:  9--The game has a lot of questions to offer.  The computer players are easy to beat, so this game would be more fun playing against a real human!  You could replay this game a few times a... Read the rest of this Review

Monopoly for PlayStation

Thanks for reading my review of Monopoly for PlayStation!  --kramer4077

Overall:  6/10--This is the first time I've played the PlayStation version of Monopoly.  I've previously played it in real life, as well as on Nintendo and Nintendo 64.  The game was going fine until two issues really bothered me so much to the point that I needed to end the game.  Don't get me wrong, this isn't a horrible version by any means.  But there were some things that should have been fixed in the game.  The first issue I'm talking about is that the computer opponents would ask you to trade...they wanted to trade a lot...they wanted to trade on EVERY turn!  No, I didn't want to sell Virginia Avenue for $64, and I certainly didn't want to sell it for $67, as if adding $3 would make me want to sell it.  As if that didn't bother me enough...there was no way to skip through animations or make your token advance quicker.  So when you rolled a 12 you had to painfully watch your token advance 12 squares.  There was also no way to make the computer players go quicker so you didn't have to watch their turn.  You had to watch every time they rolled and moved around the game board...I nearly fell asleep!  In other game systems there is a way to skip through or turn off some of the animations.

Graphics:  6/10--The graphics were pretty decent.  It was nice that the board would rotate as your token would advance around it, making it easy to see.  The game didn't zoom in or do anything too annoying that some other versions of Monopoly do throughout the game.  The animations were kind of cute at times, especially the train properties animation.

Sound:  6/10--There was some background music and sound effects to go with the dice and the tokens.  The race car went zoom, and the ship made a boat whistle sound...those kinds of normal sounds.

Addictiveness:  3/10--I pr... Read the rest of this Review

Scrabble for Playstation
Thanks for reading my review of Scrabble for PlayStation!  Happy gaming!! --kramer4077

Overall:  7--Word games sometimes convert well to video games and sometimes they don't.  Well, Scrabble seems to be one that is fairly good as a video game.  The game gives you an opponent, prepares all the tiles, and does all the scoring for you!  Some of these tasks seem difficult when playing the real life game, especially the scoring...or finding an opponent to play Scrabble with you...mostly the scoring!  It might take some of the fun out of it for those of you who like to add up the score.  But then again you're probably a "language person" not a "math person" if you're playing Scrabble!

Graphics:  7--Graphics are pretty standard.  There are letter tiles to put on the game board.  At times it is hard to read what has been played on the board or see what the multipliers on the board are, but there is a zoom in button to make things much easier to read.  The letter rack is very easy to see and it's simple to move the letters around the board.

Sound:  7--Standard sounds that aren't too annoying!

Addictiveness:  7--I do love word games, so I could play this over and over.  There are probably more adventure-seeking gamers on this website, so it might not draw your interest for more than one or two games.  This game would certainly be more fun playing with a human opponent because it would make for a more competitive aspect.  Beating the computer is not as much fun, but you do get a pretend trophy at the end, so that's pretty nice!

Story:   N/A  There is no story in Scrabble.  Although, I suppose you could write one in words on the game board...now that would make a cool video game!

Depth:  7--It took me about an hour to play a full game, so it definitely offers enough to keep you busy for a long time.  I... Read the rest of this Review

If You Haven't Played Maniac Mansion...Play It Today!!

Thanks for reading my review of Maniac Mansion for Nintendo! --kramer4077

Overall: 10/10--Since I found this website I wanted to review Maniac Mansion!  It is truly an original awesome RPG!  I must have played this for dozens of hours in the 90s as a child trying to beat it.  The first time I turned the game on I even had difficulty opening the front door of the mansion!  But I was probably 8 years old, so cut me some slack  This game takes a lot of strategy to beat and it is so much fun to play!  If you've never played Maniac Mansion...now is the time!!

Graphics: 9/10--This game has very unique graphics.  A very creative cartoon-style mansion and characters are in this game.  You control the game cursor with your NES gamepad.  At times it's a bit tricky to get the cursor to click exactly what you want, but otherwise graphics are cool!

Sound: 10/10--The music is unforgettable and will be stuck in your head for a lifetime!  I could hum Syd's theme song right now if you asked me to.  There are plenty of realistic sound effects and eerie music as well.

Addictiveness:  9/10--I played this game a lot as a child.  I couldn't beat the game then.  Since I know how to beat the game now, I don't play it quite so much, but it is still a favorite of mine!  There are multiple ways to beat this game using different character combinations.  After you beat the game one way, it's fun to try and use different characters and beat the game a in a slightly different way!

Story: 10/10--You begin by choosing your characters in addition to Dave.  Choose wisely because each of the other "kids" has special skills .  To beat the game I recommend getting someone who can fix the phone (Bernard or Jeff) and one of the musicians (Syd or Razor).  There are other combinations of "kids" you can choose to beat the game though. ... Patriotic Pinball

Are you a patriot...try some pinball :)

Thanks for reading my review--happy gaming!  --kramer4077

Overall: 5/10--The theme of this Patriotic Pinball game is very endearing!  You play your way through American history and the pinball boards are decorated accordingly.  I can tell the makers put a lot of heart into this game, but when it boils down to it, it's just another pinball game.  The only thing to do in the game is hit the levers at the bottom of the game for the ball to bounce off of and try to score as many points as you can.  There were special spots on the board that offered a type of "mini-game."  However, there was nothing too exciting in those.

Graphics:  7/10--There are only two pinball boards for America on Duty and Road Trip Coast to Coast.  The pinball boards have neat designs on them, but are so intricate that everything is difficult to see.  When you hit the ball you are just hoping that it gets you lots of points and it doesn't matter where you hit it.  There are some special "mystery" spots on the board, but it seemed all those do is give you more points.  At least the boards do stay still while you are playing.  They don't zoom in on the ball like other pinball games do.

Sound: 5/10--It has some sound effects, as you'd expect from pinball.  There is the sound of bells when the ball hits them.  A commander-type of voice talks to you during the game.

Addictiveness: 4--I probably won't play this game again.  But if someone out there loves pinball this could be a neat little game for you!  The Patriotic/American History theme is really a nice concept.  I suppose it would be fun trying to find all the special spots on the board, like I found the Battle of Gettysburg.  It offers a fun way to review historical information.  Maybe someone studying for a history test would enjoy this game :)

Story: There's no story here.  Just your basic ga... Read the rest of this Review

Munch Munch Munch-You Know You Want To!
You know, I teach third grade and my students CANNOT multiply for the life of them.  I was just thinking back-why was I so quick at multiplication but students nowadays can't multiply?  The answer hit me like a ton of bricks!! NUMBER MUNCHERS!!

Graphics:  They are ok, not the greatest, but hey this was made for the Apple II computer so elementary students could play it.  It had to be made pretty basic and simple in order to provide quick practice.

Sound:  Ah, the classic chomping sound!  Gobbling up numbers never sounded so good!

Addictiveness:  Well I just played it for an hour straight and I want to go try it again-could only get to x11 before those troggles ate me up!

Story:  Not much going on story-wise.  The little cut-scenes are so cute, but otherwise the game is meant to be repetitive math practice for students.

Depth:  The game offers a variety  of math skills and get increasingly more difficult.  It really all does boil down to munching answers though.
Difficulty:  One troggle=easy, 3 troggles=difficult (seems they always know right where you are going to move next and then they get you).  I know for sure I was able to get much further today at age 30 than I did at age 9, which is a relief!!

Home Alone Rocks!
It seems this game has a bad rep on this website.  Well, I'm here to tell you this game is very cool and incredibly addicting!  I feel in love with this game when I was in elementary school.  Know why?  Because there was no need to save your progress.  At a time when there was no way to save progress in most video games, this game was so refreshing because it was always over in 20 minutes...or less...:)  When you began the game you always knew what time you'd be done playing.  Mario Bros and TMN Turtles were other awesome games, but could take hours to complete without any saving option.

Yeah, the graphics aren't the best, but really are pretty decent compared to other NES games.  The sounds of the traps going off are like music to my ears :)  The music is catchy and will be stuck in your head long after you turn the game off.  There really is no story, I'm guessing that if you play the game you have seen the movie so you know the basic storyline.  You are Kevin the kid and you are running away from the robbers.  The depth of the game is decent because there are lots of ways to win/lose.  Granted the ending isn't that great if you can last the 20 minutes.  But this game can be a difficult thrill at times, especially when both robbers are chasing you and you only have 1 trap; you are frantically trying to get to the nearest trap to grab it and set it down quick!!  Will you get there before the robber grabs you?!!  That is the thrill of the game and anyone who is bashing this game must not have understood how to play it and how fun it is to strategize so that if you lose you can do better the next time you try.  I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes a heart-racing adventure...that will of course be over in 20 minutes...or less :)

Winning Strategies

This is my favorite NES game from my childhood.  With the NES controller I could win almost every time; the computer controls are a little difficult but I'm getting used to them.  Here are some game-winning strategies I use:
1.  When the game first starts grab the 2 light bulbs inside the front door.  Go to the right and lay them down in front of the stairs that lead to the basement.  Now grab the Christmas tree lights and TV (very long trap) and head down the stairs to the basement.  Once you are down the stairs go all the way to the furthest left corner.  There is a hiding spot there.  When I go into a hiding spot I lay a trap down right in front of me so that I'm protected when the robbers come since they run very fast at times.  I've been able to spend up to 5 minutes in that basement hiding spot.
2.   As soon as a robber is in the basement another good time waster is to run back and forth in the basement, laying traps to each end and making them chase you to the other end.  The basement is loaded with traps, so this strategy can easily take care of another 5 minutes for you.  As soon as both robbers are in the basement leave as fast as you can.  To get them to separate again I run laps outside the house to the tree house, top floor of the house, down the drain pipe, and around the front of the house.  I eventually get back down to the basement as many different times as I can using that same hiding spot.  The basement is the best spot to stay in the majority of the time since you can see them coming from up above and at one end you have a wall behind you for safety.
3.  Do you know how to get the chandeliers down?  You can only have 2 traps in your inventory in order to do it.  You need to stand directly above one on the top floor, hold the down arrow, and push whichever button you are using to collect traps.  That will send them to the 2...
