Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon I remember renting this game once as a kid. I remember liking it a lot, but I eventually forgot the name. Took me ages to remember the name again. Glad this game works so well!
Sim Theme Park Oh wow! I used to love this game when it worked on my PC! Never knew there was a PSX port for it! :D
Bomberman 64 - The Second Attack! Why must this game be so expensive? 510$? That's more than a console! *is sad*
Super Paper Mario Games in the video game room can't be played on this site. If you want to play games make your way over to the retro game room instead.
Bomberman 64 - The Second Attack! Am I the only one that has a problem with Sky Planet Horizon? Whenever I go there, the arrow keys don't work and I have to resort to using the D-pad controls, which makes dodging enemies and setting bombs awkward.
Bomberman 64 - The Second Attack! For those stuck on the controls: the arrow keys= Control Stick, W,A,S,D= D-Pad, I,J,K,L= C buttons, Left Shift= A, Left Ctrl= B, Z= Left trigger/L, C= Right trigger/R, and X= Z trigger/Z. Hope this helps.
Mario & Luigi - Superstar Saga You have to get to the top of the mountain. To get access to it, talk to all the NPCs in the area
Kirby 64 - The Crystal Shards You change controls by double clicking the screen, then clicking the control you want to cahnge and the key you want to change it to.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land

Kirby's Return to Super Star
Surprise is a very bittersweet thing. Some surprises are good. Your friends just threw a surprise party? Awesome! But some surprises... they catch us off guard, throw us into turmoil and cause grief. Your best friend reveals they were using you to get close to another friend? How horrible!!
One good surprise Kirby fans got way back in 2005 was the announcement of a new Kirby game for the gamecube, Kirby's Journey. Unfortunately the game went through a bit of development hell and got cancelled and reannounced three times under different names. Finally after six years, Kirby's Return to Dreamland took a few elements from the cancelled Gamecube games and was released for the Wii in 2011. The question is, 'Was the wait worth it?'
Well... you'll see.

~Delicious Graphics~
Kirby games have this advantage where they are often made near the end of a system's life, so they have the advantage of knowing exactly what the hardware is capable of in terms of graphics and put that info to good use. You may sneak a glance at a screenshot and think I'm crazy for thinking it's anything special, but if you look around at all the different stages and pay attention to all the details in the background and tileset, you'll get an idea of what I mean. They might not push the boundaries or anything, but they still look stunning. Even the hub worlds have little areas to look around, even if nothing in particular is around.
Nutty Noon in particular looks amazing. The gorgeous sunset set in the background of some ancient stone structure... Beautiful.

~A return indeed, though it's still different~
As someone who has been a staunch fan of Air Ride's soundtrack, this game... this game blew Air Ride out of the water with its OST. There isn't quite as much variety in tone as Air Ride has, but unlike Air Ride, it manages to retain a feeling of childish nostalgia without using half of the soundtrack from Super Star. The instrument range is also fantastic, l... Read the rest of this Review
Sonic Heroes

Behold my Neenja Power!
Teamwork is actually a pretty valuable life skill. With all of the single player campaigns and free for all battles that go on in games and movies, it can be easy to forget that two or even three people can get more done than one.
That's why games that allow for multiple people to play through the story at once can be more memorable. You have someone to share memories, victories, and even losses with.
Sonic Heroes may only have a single player story mode, but it still does bring an emphasis on the super power of teamwork (and the super power of cheesy writing)! But does this emphasis work in the game's favour? Let's find out! Time to crack this game wide open! Yeah!

~A little more variety is needed~
First off, the Gamecube version of this game looks the best. The game looks pleasing enough and the textures are somewhat sharp, though not as sharp as they have been in the past. The character models are noticeably polygonal and awkwardly shiny (though not as bad as it is in Shadow the Hedgehog) and there are otherwise no graphical glitches.
You may not see much of it, but the water in particular is very well done, especially compared to the Playstation 2 and XBOX versions.
However, as for palette themes, I feel like there could have been a bit more variety. I suppose every two stages are supposed to be their own 'zone' of sorts, but the stages blend together too much when they use the same assets and textures. About the only exceptions to this are Egg Fleet/Final Fortress, and Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion where the textures and setting and such vary enough that they feel different from each other, if only a bit.

~Rockin' around at the speed of sound~
Sonic Heroes has just the type of music you've come to expect from the franchise: catchy Rock tunes with a bit of synthesizer mixed in here and there for a slight techno feel.
While each stage obviously has their own theme, each 'zone', as I put it, still has their own uni... Read the rest of this Review
Legend of Zelda, The: The Wind Waker HD

Only bother if you haven't played the original
It takes a special sort of creator(s) to make the player feel emotions for a game. Story is an easy way to make a player feel part of the game. Graphics seem to be pretty common too. But what if a game could give you a sense of adventure and accomplishment through gameplay alone? I think that's a special sort of achievement.
Nintendo has done it before, as have many Indie and third party developers. The question is, does Wind Waker HD live up to this sense of adventure? Let's find out!

~Shiiiny~
When the original Wind Waker came out, it was controversial for a very simple reason: The graphics. Unlike any Zelda game before it, it went for a more cartoony cell-shaded style that turned many off and charmed others.
While I found the graphics of the original amazing, does the remake do them justice?
For the most part, yes.
The models for enemies and NPCs alike are much smoother, the draw distance for islands is far better, but one of the greatest improvements is the lighting. My goodness, is it ever gorgeous!
The glow that bright things like lava and larvae give off is simply amazing to see, even for a WiiU game.
Just like others for the system, Wind Waker makes sure to use colour absolutely everywhere. Even dark places like the Earth Temple use more of a grey-blue as opposed to the dark brown we get used to seeing. Despite all my praise for the graphics, there's one thing in this game that bugs me: Some of the more important characters look like they're made of clay at points, especially Link.
Something about character textures is a little bit off, so in certain lighting (Like, say, Link's classic 'You got a thing' pose) the model looks lifeless.
But considering that's my only real gripe, I'd say these graphics are still nice.

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity

Wish Upon A Shooting Star
Wishes are interesting things. People all have different wishes based on priorities, and some don't do it at all. Like praying, many ridicule it and say it's a matter of luck. It's often called childish, cheesy, clichéd, any manner of derogatory term like that.
And yet, there's something magical about finding a four-leaf clover and frantically scrambling for a desire, or spotting a shooting star and desperately wishing for your dreams to come true.
And really, if you mix in hard work with a bit of luck, can't you help your wish come true?
Whether you're a little kid that wants to beat his friend at something, or a lost traveller that just wants to go home, wishing can be a good comfort. Even if it isn't technically granted, you can get the motivation and hope needed to get things done.
While wishing isn't necessarily the most prominent thing in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity, they make some interesting allusions to it. For instance, the Japanese version was actually called Shooting Star, making an interesting reference to the age old wishing tradition.
But enough about that, let's make a wish to learn more about the Sonic Riders' sequel for the Wii!

Graphics 7/10
Alright, this game came out for the Wii in 2008, and all things considering, they aren’t anything too special when compared to other games that came out around that time. Sure, they’re perfectly serviceable and you can clearly see what’s going on at all times, but the models are a tad blocky, and lack the amazing lighting details that Sonic Unleashed has (Although Sonic Unleashed admittedly came out roughly 9 months later). Even the CGI doesn’t look quite as good, though it still looks quite nice. I personally wish all the cutscenes could be CGI, because it looks so much better than just using in-game models.
The courses themselves for the most part look very diverse, even from their counterparts. They aren’t exactly the most detailed cours... Read the rest of this Review
Super Paper Mario

Saving the World... One Love at a Time~
Love is a powerful force. It causes us to hike across mountains, sing songs thousands of times, and create horrible poetry all for the sake of that significant other. However, there's a darker side to it as well. It can make you destroy worlds, rob others of their happiness, and make you do many other unspeakable things.
Pardon? What does this have to do with Super Paper Mario? Well! Love is a very prominent theme in this game! Right from the opening sequence where Peach and Bowser are forcefully married for a very grim purpose (not that Bowser minds, of course). Yes, it is definitely present in many places and forms throughout the game, even if it isn't fully apparent in the beginning. From brotherly love, to family love, to your typical couple love and everything in between.
But enough rambling. Let's look a little deeper at what this story has to offer us.

Graphics 9/10
When a game has unique graphics like this, it's hard to try and compare them to another game. The closest you can get is with the prequel, The Thousand Year Door. Even then, the developers went for a slightly different approach. The big thing is that the paper feel is almost completely gone. Super Paper Mario still borrows from the 2D character designs of the previous two games, but the background is more reminiscent of a flat cartoony background than a full on 3D background. Unless of course, you flip into 3D. For whatever reason, the backgrounds look more fleshed out when you flip. All that aside, it still looks wonderful, though it's nothing too special.
The characters themselves look so much better too, with brighter colours and smoother animations.
The items are a bit subpar. They're easy to tell apart, but they're pixel-y.
Speaking of, the pixl partners actually look awesome. All that's ever visible are the coloured outlines and eyes(bar Tippi), yet somehow they rarely ever blend into the background. This creates a cool mini visual style for them, and them al... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario 3D World

I'm a Caat~
Repetition is something that's been used a lot in the video game industry these days, particularly with Nintendo. Every
mainstream game that's come out lately either seems to be a remake, a bland sequel, or a borderline copy-paste game. This is my big problem with the New Super Mario Bros. series. They all feel the same to me. But this isn't about those games. This is about the first game to come out in a while that feels fresh. Super Mario 3D World. Is it the same basic premise of most Mario games these days? Yes, but it executes the idea much better and gives a much needed update to the formula. How so, you may ask? Well let's just find out, shall we?

Graphics 10/10
This game looks amazing. The models are clean, the animations fluid, and the background is clean and colourful. Nintendo is 100% aware of it too. During various points in the overworlds (and a good chunk of stages) there are little points that serve no other purpose except to either: A) Show off the graphics (This is mostly in the overworld) or B) Give you an idea of what's ahead (Pretty much just the stages).
They have a right to be proud, though. Even just watching the final boss is quite something. It might not be hard but
it is beautifully cinematic.
One of my favourite places to look at however is probably the final overworld of the game (bar the bonus worlds). It
is incredibly vibrant and just so much fun to look at, especially if you stand by the entrance and turn the camera so that you have a third person view of it.
Even such small things as the power-ups and enemies look perfect. I cannot find a pixel out of place in this game, and
Nintendo deserves some applause for it.

Sound 10/10

Shadow the Hedgehog

Shadow! I... am your father!
Poor Shadow. The hedgehog gets his own game, and then it gets slammed into the ground with comments like 'Omgz, why does my Sonic games have guns?', and 'Swearing? NO WAY'. I'm here to say that these things shouldn't, and don't determine whether a game is good or bad. There are other things for that.
For those unaware, in Shadow the Hedgehog, you play as (gasps) Shadow the hedgehog! He's still suffering from the amnesia introduced in Sonic Heroes, but in return for the Chaos Emeralds, a mysterious dark figure offers him a chance to restore his memory. It's a pretty good deal, so now, we're off to to take part in a new war between aliens and humans! Which side will you choose?
    Let's observe, shall we?

Graphics 9/10
For a gamecube game, this has amazing graphics. The environments are, for the most part, all different and lovely to look at (Sky Troops and Glyphic Ruins in particular look suspiciously similar). The character models all look colourful, clean, and clear (Except for minor clipping issues with Vector's mouth). The animations are all smooth as well.
The guns, while fun looking, are typically so huge, that they clearly clip though the ground, which just makes things look a little ridiculous.
Another thing I have to give credit for is the pre-rendered cutscenes. They look absolutely GORGEOUS, even if there are only four or five of them.
My only complaints are the gun clipping, and the final cutscene, where there is so much red, that it's REALLY hard to see what's going on without hurting your eyes.

Sound 9/10
Shadow's soundtrack... is not for everyone. It focuses very much on techno and rock. However, a very large amount of the stage songs are very repetitive, if not catchy in parts. There are some songs that, while still repetitive, manage to sound good enough that ... Read the rest of this Review
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness

A mine full of Orre
Orre. A region rife with sand, crime, more sand, water (wait what?), and forests (what? How can a region have such different climates?). Five years ago, this land was a dangerous, hostile place, with not one, but TWO evil teams, Snag'em and Cipher, collaborating with the goal of taking over the world with Shadow Pokémon (Pokémon who have had the door to their hearts closed a.k.a Brainwashed into killing machines). Thankfully, their conquest was stopped at the hands of an ex Team Snag'em member and his love interest friend. Fast forward to the current time, where we have a new protagonist, Michael, and an awesome starter (Eevee) here to stop Cipher from rising once more!
Let us go, and take a look at this new journey through Orre!

Graphics 9/10
This game looks amazing! The attacks are easy to see (The shadow moves in particular look cool and, well, shadowy), the character models look great, the environments are nice to look at (especially Phenac City with all of the running water) and most of the Pokémon are very well done.
My only gripe with this is that, for whatever reason, some of the Pokémon from the first generation had their models ripped straight from Pokémon Stadium, and it shows. Golduck is the most prominent example. Compared to everything else, the poor duck looks absolutely ugly and out of place.

Sound 9/10
This game sounds great. For sound effects, there isn't much outside of battle. Granted, the battle sound effects sound nice, if not similar. Most of the attacks are a 'shhh Bang!' sound. Barriers are a twinkle like sound, and stat buffs and debuffs are a 'twing!' and a 'neeoow', respectively.
Outside of battle the effects get a lot more cartoony, what with the sort of sound effects you'd expect to hear in a comic parody (Like a sharp 'Bang' for a foot stomp, or a quick 'Dink' when someone notices you)... Read the rest of this Review
Okami

A Brush Stroke of Art
Oh Okami. What an overlooked game you are. It was an RPG/Action game made in 2008 by Four Clover Studios for the Play Station 2 and
later ported over to the Wii. It was praised to the high heavens, but it had extremely poor sales.
In Okami, you play as the Japanese Sun Goddess, Amaterasu (who is a wolf for whatever reason), as you run around the troubled land of Nippon (or Ancient Japan, whichever you prefer) and try your hardest to restore faith in the gods and get rid of all the demons.
Now, let's take a look at the game, shall we?
Graphics 8/10
The graphics in this game are beautiful and colourful. The big thing about this game is that the graphics are all done in a Japanese Watercolour style. Because of this, every area looks unique and pretty. The weapons in this game also look great and you can easily tell which one you have on.
However, the game still shows a bit of age as all the characters are a bit polygonal. The graphics are also blurry, though not to the point where you can't see anything.
Sound 9/10
The music in this game is as beautiful as the graphics, if not more so. Every song has a wonderful Japanese flair to it, which fits, since the game takes place in Ancient Japan. Every track is different and rarely repeats in any other area or event (Except for the tune Rising Sun, as it makes itself known throughout the game via remixes). The songs range from the beautiful Dragon Palace, to the cheery Kamiki Festival, to the haunting Cursed Sei-An City to even more.
My only real complaint instead comes from the sound effects. The battle sound effects are rather generic and the game seems to love 'whoosh' sound effects. The characters all speak via Banjo-Kazooie-esque grunts and squeaks, which gets annoying fairly quickly. They aren't otherwise bad by any means, but they aren't anything spectacular....
