The Ultimate Time Killer
This is one of my all time favorite Genesis games. It's easy to learn, easy to get the hang of, and easy to play over and over again. However, it's pretty difficult to master. The greatest thing about this game is the replay value. You could literally play this game a thousand times from the beginning and it'll be different.
The premise is simple, you start as one of 4 charac
ters (it doesn't really matter which you pick) the only difference in each character is their starting "Leadership" and starting army. After choosing you character you just wonder around gathering armies, hunting treasure and of course, fighting. The battles are pretty simple. Up to five armies on each side of the field and you move them into position to battle. Pretty simple, but different armies or higher numbers can spell victory or utter defeat.
The graphics are right up there w/ everything else on the Genesis if just a little off so I give graphics an 8.
The sound, while the sound quality itself is just fine, the ENTIRE game runs the same soundtrack on a loop and gets EXTREMELY old EXTREMELY fast. Because of this soundtrack from the depths of hell I give sound a 3.
I give addictiveness a 10 because I play this game daily while doing nothing at work for 3-5 hours at a time and still love it. Along w/ the fact that it's always different and has varying degrees of difficulty every time you start a new game.
It has no story really other than you learning that you have to capture "villains" and find some magic scepter.
I give depth a 7 because the game is surprisingly large for a Genesis game and really takes a long time to get through even though you're kind of on a time limit.
Finally I give difficulty a 7 for all of the above reasons including dealing with the soundtrack.
In conclusion, if you need some time killed and have a lifetime to kill it in, I highly recommend this game. You won't regret gi... Read the rest of this Review
