Scyther uses a Sun Stone, Porygon evolves with happiness, Clamperl evolves at level 10 depending on whether attack or defense is higher, and Onix is also level 40.

Yes, the fossil cave is where you would get Treecko. Since there are so many different Pokemon you can get there, it's tough to find one sometimes. As for the Pokemon that normally need trades, Machamp and Alakazam need to be level 40.

Both Latias and Latios can be found in Artisan Cave, like most legendaries. But if the tickets work for you, they can also be found on one of the islands you go to. These don't seem to work for everybody, though.

On VERY rare occasions, you can catch a Milotic using what I assume would be a super rod. It looks like I forgot to change the encounter rate, so it's only 1%, so it's probably easier to level up a febas.

Ninjabread Man
10-18-14 12:26 PM
You can't catch me, I'm the Ninjabread Man!
As most people probably know by now, the Nintendo Wii was littered by many crappy 3rd party games. There were many things that makes so many of the bad. Some of them have controls that try to use the Wii Remote to its full ability, but forget to make it work. Others have horrible graphics and overall quality put into the game world. And in the case of many platforming games that were bad on the Wii, it involved terrible cameras. And the game Ninjabread Man nails all of these issues right on the head, ending up as one of the most infamous games in the Wii library.

Gameplay: 2 – So, what this game seems to be going for is some kind of platformer like Banjo & Kazooie, but fails in practically every way. The basic gameplay of the game is “exploring” the levels in search of finding 8 pieces to fix a machine, which is only used as a means to get to the next level. The game pretends like it has an open world, but the levels vary from a linear path with a split where you have to go from one path to the other, to just one big circle mess. The lack of a helpful map was eminent pretty early on as well, as it’s easy to get lost.

It isn’t like the actual platforming is good either. One level is pretty much a joint of similar looking rooms with random mushroom-like objects around. Nothing interesting; it’s all copy and pasting here. Other levels aren’t much different. There is nothing to change up the gameplay at all. It’s the same bland thing all the way through.

Difficulty: 6 – The game provides very little challenge in the sense of level design and fair enemies. The real difficulty in this game is fighting the horrible controls and camera. Starting with the camera, it feels the need to swing around randomly, and does a really bad job of showing depth, resulting missing the platforms half the time b... Read the rest of this Review
Yoshi\'s Island DS

Yoshi's Island returns on the DS
Yoshi’s Island DS is the sequel to the game of the same name on the Super NES, without the DS of course, which was an amazing game. It had great platforming, a terrific art style, and was one of the best games the SNES had to offer. But how good is the sequel to it? How does it compare to the original? Although I haven’t played the original enough to compare how “good” it is comparing it, I do know some differences.

Well, the game is still the same basic idea. Yoshi can flutter to get higher, and eating enemies can get you eggs to throw at other enemies, or other places that can unlock hidden areas. Although, there are also some new features added into this game. You start off with Baby Mario again, but this time, as you go along your journey, you can find more babies you can use throughout the game. All of the babies have different special ways to play.

First, Baby Mario can go faster, and has a good flutter. And his eggs can bounce a few times before breaking. Baby Peach also has a high flutter, but her eggs crash as soon as they hit a wall, and are slower as well. Her umbrella also allows her to fly up if there is wind. There are some others, and they are all fun to play with, and each has different areas that are designed for them. It’s nice to see the change of gameplay, and keeps it fresh.

The other babies are Baby DK, Baby Bowser, and Baby Wario. They are all fun to play with, although unfortunately, Wario is only used in a few levels, and the difficulty never picks up with him. Besides him, the rest can usually be used in old levels before you get them, which was cool, because you could maybe find a secret that wasn’t available before.

Gameplay: 9 – The gameplay, like the SNES one, is a 2d platformer, and a great one at that. You can defeat enemies in a few differe... Read the rest of this Review
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem
10-20-13 09:35 AM
Mini Land Mayhem!!
No matter who you are, you most likely know who Mario is. Mostly known for using his high jumps to defeat a Koopa King to save Princess Peach. However, in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini Land Mayhem, this is far from the truth. Mini Land Mayhem is a puzzle game instead, and instead of Mario, you will be controlling small, toy versions of Mario, as well as toy versions of Toad, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong.

You control them in a stage that could be as small as a 20x20, to huge stages, that reach 100x100. There are tons of obstacles, such as spikes, Snifts, and Thwops, trying to destroy the toys. And if they do, you have to start the stage all over. You win once you get all your toys to the door at the end.

This was released on the Nintendo DS, and took advantage of the dual screens perfectly. You get a map up top, and the game area on bottom. You tap the toys to make them start moving. Once they start though, they won’t stop until they reach the end, or die before that happens. To keep them from dying, you can place springs, conveyer belts, and girders in designated areas of the screen to help them reach their goal.

Story: 6.5 - So, Mario and Pauline are opening a new amusement park called Mini Land. And the first 100 people to show up get a free Pauline toy. Donkey Kong hears about it, and comes to get his own free toy, plowing through Toads to get one. Although, he’s too late, as he is the 101st person to arrive. Outraged, he takes the real Pauline, and Mario has to go after him, with only these toys to get her back.

Although the story never really progresses, the intro is shown in two ways at once. On the top screen, you get art panels of what’s going on, and the bottom is more like a cut scene. It’s cool to see both at once, and it’s done really well.

Super Mario 3D Land

Super Mario 3d Land review
Super Mario 3d Land is a 3d Mario platformer on the 3ds, released in 2011, and then again in 2012 in the Eshop. As far as sales go, it did really well, being the first 3ds game to sell 5 million copies, and rightfully so.

But what is Super Mario 3d Land? Basically, what it was supposed to be a mixture of a normal 2d platformer, and a normal 3d platformer. What I mean by this is it is a more linear journey than Super Mario 64, or Mario Galaxy. So it’s a 2d platformer, in a 3d world. And I actually really liked it. It was a good change from both the New Super Mario Bros. series, and the 3d platformer ones.

But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any secrets to find. There are three star coins in every level. Some will be right in your path, for some you might have to find a hidden Toad, and sometimes you will have to think outside the box to find them.

Gameplay: 8 - It’s a pretty interesting thing that Nintendo did here with the hybrid of a 3d and 2d game. But like I said, it works great. Go through the level, collect the star coins, and get to the top of the flag pole. The game works great though. There are some levels that are speed runs, where you have either 30 seconds, and you need to get extra time throughout the level, or have about 100 seconds to finish a course. I rarely died directly because of the time limit, but you will die when you are trying to rush.

The other alternate stages are where a ghost Mario will follow behind you, similar to the cosmic clones in Mario Galaxy. These will in some courses be a little challenging, but sometimes don’t really make a difference. But there’s an alternate version to this as well. This time, the clone will be much bigger, and can destroy blocks, which can sometimes help you, or destroy you, depending on the level. These I found to be really fun, becau... Super Mario Bros 3
09-13-13 10:25 PM
What all video games should strive for
Super Mario Bros. 3 was in the U.S., a true sequel to the classic Super Mario Bros. Released for the NES five years after the original. It took everything that made the original great, and improved pretty much everything.

It added an over world with alternate paths, so you could possibly pass a level you had trouble with, it greatly improved the graphics, and added tons of new powerups. Not only that, but the controls were more fluent with jumping, and the screen no longer prevents you from moving left. This made the player feel like you could explore the level, instead of simply moving right.

To add to the adventure part of the game, each world has levels that correspond to the over world. The ice world will involve stages that are mostly frozen in ice. There is a pipe world that is inhabited by tons of Piranha Plants. But best of all, there are the giant levels, which have mega sized Goombas and Koopa Troopas. It really does feel like you are in that world.

Another way this game feels more like an adventure is that with one of the new suits, the Raccoon suit, you can now fly around the world. You can find hidden areas, coins, or even extra lives up in the sky by using this item. You can also attack with your tail to kill enemies, or destroy blocks.

Some other suits are the hammer suit, where you can throw hammers like a Hammer Bro., and a frog suit, where you can swim much easier. It is pretty useless, but it is fun to use, because Mario hops on land while you walk. And last is the Tanooki suit. It is the same as the raccoon suit, however, now you can turn into a statue for a few seconds. This keeps enemies from hurting you, and can help if you have no way to avoid an attack. I never found this useful though, because the statue lasts for only a very short time, and I usually would get hit by the thing I am trying ... Read the rest of this Review
